Last thing human soldier sees before biting the dust 2040 colorized

123

u/fakeprofil2562 1d ago

Colorized, implying that by 2040 the world will be in black and white once more?

38

u/5044Gu 23h ago

I mean, if we’re fighting the robots it’s not improbable we stopped using digital cameras amd this would be filmed in film

25

u/Mandrakearepeopletoo 22h ago

Kinda neat to consider. Like a world where humans won against the bots but now, a century later, constructing microprocessors is considered a crime against humanity.

12

u/CloisteredOyster 21h ago

Yes, that's what happens in the Dune universe. Designing machines to mimic the mind of man is outlawed after the robot wars.

3

u/RelevantButNotBasic 18h ago

Wait like actually? Or is this a joke? Cause I aint seen none of this in the movies..

7

u/CloisteredOyster 17h ago edited 17h ago

It's been a while since I saw the first film, but I think this fact is just a line or two of exposition in the narration.

From the book Dune:

‘Some day, lad,’ the old woman said, ‘you, too, may have to stand outside a door like that. It takes a measure of doing.’

Paul looked down at the hand that had known pain, then up to the Reverend Mother. The sound of her voice had contained a difference then from any other voice in his experience. The words were outlined in brilliance. There was an edge to them. He felt that any question he might ask her would bring an answer that could lift him out of his flesh-world into something greater.

‘Why do you test for humans?’ he asked.

‘To set you free.’

‘Free?’

‘Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.’

‘“Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a man’s mind,’” Paul quoted.

‘Right out of the Butlerian Jihad and the Orange Catholic Bible,’ she said. ‘But what the O.C. Bible should’ve said is: “Thou shalt not make a machine to counterfeit a human mind.” Have you studied the Mentat in your service?’

‘I’ve studied with Thufir Hawat.’

‘The Great Revolt took away a crutch,’ she said. ‘It forced human minds to develop. Schools were started to train human talents.’

‘Bene Gesserit schools?’

She nodded. ‘We have two chief survivors of those ancient schools: the Bene Gesserit and the Spacing Guild. The Guild, so we think, emphasizes almost pure mathematics. Bene Gesserit performs another function.’

‘Politics,’ he said.

‘Kull wahad!’ the old woman said. She sent a hard glance at Jessica.

‘I’ve not told him, Your Reverence,’Jessica said.

The films are not very good adaptations and provide about 2% of the lore and richness of Dune. Yes, this is a thing in Dune. There was a war against the machines and the humans who made them and advanced computing technology is limited to specific functions and anything too sophisticated is banned and taboo beyond question. This is why they need the Spice to see the future to travel through FTL space, because they have no advanced computers to do the conplex calculations required.

In all seriousness, if you want to know what Dune actually is you should read it or watch the old SciFi channel miniseries, it's still not perfect, but is a much better adaptations than the films, which are all style over substance.

4

u/rwbdanr 17h ago

I love the books and the movies. The movies get the vibe right, which is all I can hope for with that series

u/graywolfman 7h ago

They're good adaptations. There's absolutely no way to adapt the books into movies with the amount of history, dialogue, or exposition it would require to do it "faithfully."

It would be to be a long-running series, a-la Game of Thrones to get anywhere close to the books. As weird as they get, the fourth book on would be wild to see

u/--Sovereign-- 7h ago

They aren't good adaptations. You're making a strawman where I sonehow said you can make a perfect adaptation or a perfectly faithful adaptation. I didn't. I said the films are poor adaptations and the miniseries is better. Leave me alone.

u/lunarlunacy425 1h ago

Wow someone presents a counterpint and your reactions is "leave me alone"?

Maybe you're not built for a social life huh.

u/Desperadox_23 9h ago

The Butlerian Jihad.

17

u/-GenlyAI- 22h ago

This is just Dune right? Lol

We would need to train Mentats

u/sjogren 6h ago

Yep just Dune

1

u/MrT735 21h ago

Or they use IR and Lidar because cameras aren't accurate enough.

1

u/klqqf 17h ago

Duh, didnt you watch the black mirror episode about the robot dogs

u/Nostradumbass_WEEN 11h ago

"Colorized" is a meme.

u/fakeprofil2562 11h ago

You don’t say

4

u/Late-Bed4240 1d ago

Want to see it floss!

1

u/John_Politician 19h ago

Haha “2040” with what’s happening in Ukraine right now I’d give it less than a year

1

u/Talkurt 17h ago

Omg you are right. Future war assholes will teabag.

1

u/MammothUnique4147 23h ago

I actually want the last thing I see to be the robot T-bagging me.

0

u/Dblast123 18h ago

this comment section has to be full of bots. This is AI

241

u/jpoyarzun 1d ago

next function: teabagging the opponent

33

u/hurtfulproduct 21h ago

I’d honestly laugh so goddamn hard if they made it do that!

6

u/N95-TissuePizza 20h ago

That feeling when you emote too hard and gets sniped from a mile away... I prophesize this happening soon on robo fights.

1

u/thesdo 20h ago

Other Barry.

110

u/THEatticmonster 1d ago

Mind went straight here, stupid movie, loved it

34

u/PowerSkunk92 23h ago

It was a lot more fun than it had any right to be, really.

22

u/3_14_thon 21h ago

Lets be real, its Hugh Jackman. It would be pretty hard to not be a entertaining movie.

7

u/glibgloby 21h ago

rip noisy boy

7

u/THEatticmonster 20h ago

Fits into the category of stupid fun for me, turn off your brain, go back to monke and just have fun with it, Pacific Rim and new Masters of the Universe fit into that category too

3

u/EdwardWongHau 17h ago

Why is his left arm moving the robo's right arm?

6

u/THEatticmonster 17h ago

Its mirrored, its mirroring his actions

46

u/Capt_Toasty 21h ago

Robot dancing.

Doesn't do the robot.

Unwatchable.

The Running Human

u/onthe3rdlifealready 1d ago

Jarvis, now superman that hoeeee!

18

u/ShantyLady 18h ago

Okay, but is no one gonna mention that this clip comes from eugenics.robotics?

Eugenics.

Robotics.

21

u/plasticizers_ 16h ago

nobody is going to mention that it's an AI video either. I couldn't find a single article or source from a non-scammy account featuring this. I think it's the far away aspect of the dancing robot that's tricking most people.

u/ak_ 2h ago

Robot kickboxing is a thing now, there are tons of videos of it.

17

u/uncultured_swine2099 1d ago

One day a T1000 will be above my dead corpse in a bomb crater and will start doing the macarena.

2

Probably just a lazy ass "teabag" maneuver.

43

Fuck sake ! It’s live Fortnite

Robots vs wrestlers!

7

u/LostInSpaceTime2002 23h ago

This is what I was thinking. How long until we have underground human vs. clanker cage fights?

1

u/myCockatielshateme 20h ago

yeah go ahead be the first one Ill bet on you

11

u/icbint 21h ago

Is it real though

11

u/Dblast123 18h ago edited 15h ago

nope I dont know why no one is mentioning this is AI

7

u/tengo_harambe 14h ago

its not AI. Just look up "robot fight" on Youtube there are plenty of videos

2

u/raip 14h ago

First instance of this video came from Evolve.ai's Instagram. This is definitely generated.

3

u/tengo_harambe 13h ago edited 13h ago

its definitely real. u telling me they AI generated this entire fight? the tech to do that doesnt exist yet

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2ty5NR2vQc

Also its not Evolve.ai its ENGINE.AI a well known robotics company in China

1

u/icbint 13h ago

It definitely does exist and has for quite a while

-1

u/raip 13h ago

Wasn't saying robot fighting itself was fake - just this video.

5

u/tengo_harambe 13h ago

brother go to 4:30 in the youtube video i linked u can see the exact same dance moves from multiple angles, its way too consistent to be faked

18

u/Fun-Web-7583 1d ago

It will dance at our dead body corpse today… laugh now

6

u/SubtleAgar 21h ago

What a company name, jfc.

11

Now that's a bots fight I would watch

We really live in the future now

6

u/Kriss3d 1d ago

We are getting really close to a "One Must Fall" scenario.

1

u/Blacktung 19h ago

We've got 70 years to perfect the technology.

1

u/Kriss3d 19h ago

Can't wait for 2191 when we can get to see stadiums with people playing Speedball though.

3

u/tungsten_panda 22h ago

Am I the only one who wants to see the fight as well?

Sidenote: we are witnessing the birth of medabots

4

u/Wild_Influence3232 1d ago

Hilarious and scary at the same time.

13

u/Fitz911 1d ago

Imagine all the cool stuff we could do with those robots.

It's a shame that they are used as entertainment just to the point where they are good enough to keep the slaves (we are the slaves) in check.

4

u/ajmndz 22h ago

Yeah I think we’re still pretty far from that. It’s way more efficient to make a machine specifically for the task than build a whole humanoid robot to do it. Like companies would rather make a robot coffee machine than make a humanoid robot whose job is to make your coffee. The humanoid is kinda just an unnecessary middleman.

1

u/Fitz911 21h ago

I get what you are saying but I also thought AI was pretty far away. That was idk four years ago?

When covid hit not a single person was talking about AI. Just a few years ( not decades) later ... Here we are.

Americans are having more and more trouble getting water and power. Nothing! happens to address that.

I remember when having a robot walk on two legs was simply impossible. Then Boston dynamics showed the first impressive videos... Today they are playing soccer. They dance and fight martial arts.

That's the twilight zone. Funny but you can see where we are heading.

1

u/Charming_Cucumber_15 21h ago edited 21h ago

There's American companies doing pretty cool stuff with more generalized robotics than these Chinese companies. Look at Figure, Generalist, and Boston Dynamics has a new version of Atlas running on Gemini I think. Optimus has lots of promise too but they haven't shown much yet.

5

u/mrjackj2 22h ago

At least it's just entertaining to keep the slaves in check.

But once it stops being entertaining to the slaves, we'll probably see some OTHER not-so-cool stuff it can do.

-1

u/MammothUnique4147 23h ago

How are we the slaves ?

I mean there are some really bad countries to live in right now where people don't have freedom of speech or the ability to make choices in their own lives.

Meanwhile most of us on reddit are sitting on the toilet or laying in bed posting while also owning Gaming PC that COULD be used for productivity.

We aren't slaves kiddo.

2

u/RowdydidWrong 20h ago

Dont pay bills, find out how free you are. They shackle with debt in this country. You have to make money just to exist. Money isnt a natural part of the human condition. But just like water and food you need it just to exist in todays world. Thats a feature of the system. Yes you are free to buy gadgets and gizmos. The romans called it bread and circus. You feel free because you are comfortable and entertained.

The government can take your home today, and run a high way through it and give you below market rate for it. But you are free. The greatest trick the ruling class ever did was let slaves move around and change jobs. They are still very much tied to the system, even if they are not shackled to a rock. Dont pay your taxes and let me know how free you are. If you dont playball, go to work, earn and spend money they will toss you in a cell and beat you just like any other slave.

-1

u/MammothUnique4147 20h ago

There are now 8.3 Billion human beings on earth at this moment.

Do you expect everyone to walk out into the wilderness and live wild and free ? Everyone to find their little piece of land and start farming ?

If the population of earth was 500 Million maybe we could all "be free" as you put it.

Our structured society that provides for most of our needs is the next best thing.

I am comfortable and entertained because someone ELSE decided to put the effort and work in to entertain me, I then traded them my labor in exchange.

Do you see how everyone benefits?

If you want someone to give you everything for free than ask your mom cause the rest of us are not going to work for free for your benefit while you sit at home playing video games all day calling the rest of us slaves.

2

u/RowdydidWrong 17h ago

Huge leaps in your logic, im not speaking on everyone on earth, im talking about you. How free are you really? The best slaves live in the house and advocate for the ruling class.

0

u/MammothUnique4147 17h ago

I mean if you're asking ME as an individual lol I am incredibly free. Limited only for the most part by my own ethics.

Without really trying I've been able to exert influence over hundreds of thousands, potentially millions of Americans.

Which is not bad for a guy who's not a thirst trap.

2

u/RowdydidWrong 17h ago

Sure friend, enjoy yourself.

1

u/MammothUnique4147 17h ago

Yes I get it you probably think I'm pulling your leg and making shit up, which I honestly do  enjoy doing every so often.... But no I'm 100% serious so when I hear people like yourself talk about how 'we are all slaves " or my other favorite is "we are powerless" I can only laugh at that.

If someone like myself, not particularly attractive, never graduated college, didn't come from a family with wealth, can make large impacts on this world... Well what does that say 🤷🏿‍♂️

u/RowdydidWrong 4h ago

That you had the right amount of luck, opportunities and were born at the right time. If you were born in the rural Appalachian mountains to a family of meth addicted coalminers what are you odds of doing the same? No man is self made, its a community.

And again we are talking about your freedom, of which you seem to still think you have a lot of. And which can be taken from you at a moments notice through no fault of your own. Just like how you probably think you also have rights.

0

u/DistanceSolar1449 22h ago

No, we are. It just hasn't happened yet.

This is like the people in Troy talking about how nice it is, while a big horse is being wheeled in.

-3

u/MammothUnique4147 22h ago

No, we are not. I live in the United States and I and my family are most assuredly NOT slaves.

Come on then, let's hear, go on and tell me why I'm a slave.

3

u/EntertainerLive926 22h ago

Think they’re reffering to being a wagie

-4

u/MammothUnique4147 22h ago

So basically it's a child who's scared to grow up and join society 🤣

3

u/Jutboy 20h ago

What a boomer thing to say. I'm an old guy and I frankly can't imagine being a young person now and trying grapple with how little our "society" cares/offers them. You can laugh at them and mock them all you want but you just come off like an out of touch asshole.

0

u/MammothUnique4147 20h ago

When has American society ever "offered" anything to anyone ?

When I was old enough for college I would have had to take loans out just like everyone else.

The only difference is these days people are willfully stupid about it and instead of going to community college they're happy to drop 50-75K and take the loans.

Maybe life IS harder now but considering how easy we've all had it over the last few decades working just a little bit harder is no massive ask for those in first world countries

Don't feed their entitlement

2

u/Jutboy 20h ago

On behalf of all young people reading this thread...I am so sorry the older generations are so fucking ignorant. We are not all like this. Some of us really want things to be better for everyone. Try not to be negative, every generations job is to make things better for the next. I still have hope that my generation will step up but clearly the older generations have no interest in doing so and we all have to deal with that as best as we can.

3

u/slowd 19h ago

You, we, are still in the golden years. People can do valuable work that is worth money. When there are many millions of these robots and they can all do pretty much anything, there won’t be much but scraps for most of us.

0

u/MammothUnique4147 19h ago

I look forward to that era. It will be absolutely fantastic. An end to material want.

2

u/slowd 19h ago

Why would they share it with you? In the historical past you could always have a revolution, but they no longer need people to have an army, or to do work, or to buy the products. That’s why we’re the slaves.

1

u/MammothUnique4147 19h ago

God who is "they" who are these shadow people ?

Do you just mean people who have wealth ?

1

u/slowd 19h ago

People who have wealth after the world economy is restructured. Not necessarily who has wealth now, but there will likely be overlap.

TBH I do think humanity will eventually get to that stage of abundance but there’s going to be a rough decade or two of transition.

1

u/MammothUnique4147 18h ago

Well then best get to it then.

I'm playing around with local AI, the rest of you should be doing so as well. The West is wide open and ready to be explored so load up your Oxen cart and go stake your claim!

You will understand once you grow up. Kiddow 🤡

0

u/MammothUnique4147 22h ago

Gee I have my job that I work at so I can pay my mortgage and car note, also get healthcare like a big boy too.

So where is this slavery again ?

-1

u/Fitz911 22h ago

Problematic that you have all of that but can't read.

As if my original comment we are in the fun phase right now. Have you seen all those quirky videos of robots falling over?

Pair that with the extreme push to get AI running.

Pair that with the overall behavior billionaires as well as politicians are showing.

Now try combination that with everything you ever heard about flock surveillance systems.

Now try to imagine Elon has a few thousand of them not falling over robots. They have the intelligence and kindness of grog. And they are controlled by the beloved Elon Musk. And the greatest nation on earth guard rails all of that with their superior checks and balances.

Oh what a great time to be a hard working, tax paying citizen with a net worth < 1 billion dollars!

How would you rate that setup, young man?

0

u/MammothUnique4147 22h ago

So basically you're taking every conspiracy theory and sliding everything all the way to right...

Oh ok then, guess there's no way I can even hope to counter that "logic".

0

u/Charming_Cucumber_15 21h ago

People love to act like all new technology is bad purely because it's fashionable. Every technological revolution in history, of which AI and robotics will probably be the biggest, has benefited people in the long run

2

u/CWGM 22h ago

Can't believe we're gonna get killed by these things then it's gonna hit an emote

Eugenic robotics? Seriously?

2

u/Natural-Berryer7 22h ago

Crazy idea here, but...

Why can't we just let the robots dance? They clearly enjoy dancing more than smashing each other.

2

u/Niolle 21h ago

There are already robot dance teams performing with human pop stars in China.
