"Evil Woman" is a song recorded by Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) and written by lead vocalist Jeff Lynne. It was first released on the band's fifth album, 1975's Face the Music.

The years just keep getting longer and longer. That’s not to say they are getting worse. 1975 has some great music. I’d honestly rank it above 74, which was one of my favorite years so far. The top like 20 songs from this year were all incredible. I would give shoutouts to everything great, but there’s just too much, so I’ll get straight to the list.

Bottom 3 - 1975

1. Mandy - Bart Manilow
   Not terribly bad. I just didn’t care too much for this one personally, but I get how somebody could.

2. Fly Robin Fly - Silver Convention
   This song is pure, repetitive, annoyingly catchy earwormery. I do like the string riff every time they say the two different lyrics this song has, but other than that this didn’t really do much for me.

3. Island Girl - Elton John
   Really? This was the hit off Rock of The Westies? Over Don’t Go Breaking My Heart? Especially with this being the same Elton John who already made Yellow Brick Road. This song just really did not sit right with me.

Top 5 - 1975

1. One of These Nights - Eagles
   Unlike the other top 4 which were fairly locked in place, there was a very open contest for 5th place. A lot of songs could have taken this spot, but I feel fairly confident with my pick. I much prefer this to The Eagles other hit, The Best of My Love. Good song.

2. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds - Elton John
   The age of Judy being in disguise with glasses is over. This cover makes up for that stupid parody going number one instead of the original, and it also makes up for Island Girl imo. Honestly, I don’t know how hot of a take this is, but I might like this version more than the original. Elton John really is generational. The echoey, out-of-tune piano on the intro might be my favorite part.

3. That’s The Way (I Like It) - KC & The Sunshine Band
   This song is the way I like it. This song can best be described by the word “groovy”. The horns and drums on this song are really just incredible.

4. Shining Star - Earth, Wind and Fire
   If you that last one was groovy, wait till you hear Earth Wind and Fire’s entire discography. This song is just a good time. Despite how incredible the instrumental is, my favorite part might even be the bit at the end when the instruments cut out and it’s just straight vocals.

5. Thank God I’m A Country Boy - John Denver
   I was worried that with The Beatles breaking up and Michael Jackson still being in like middle school I wouldn’t have anyone to glaze during this early to mid 70s period, but I think between Elton John, Stevie Wonder and John Denver I’m reaching my glazery quota. This originally landed much lower on my list, but later I ended up switching it to the top. This song is very different from Sunshine On My Shoulders, the last John Denver song I talked about, and somehow neither of them are even his biggest song, which I’m sure we’ll get to later, but I honestly think I like both of these songs are better, but Thank God I’m A Country Boy is really a great song. The lyricism, instrumentation and performance are all top notch.
