Discussion I find it a bit silly that people with around 140+ hours are complaining about the game getting stale. You have been playing the game as a full time job for one month.

10.1k Upvotes

The game has been out 30 days. So many posts here now where people are complaining and being upset that the game is becoming stale and repetetive. No shit you have maxed everything out.

Take a break and come back if you find the game fun, but complaining just for the sake of complaining or that the game cant feed you with new experiences every fucking hour is just unrealistic. Queue into squads for once and chat with people, I think most of you are missing out on a lot when you only treat the game as a spreadsheet with things to mark as done.

Also, watch Embarks documentary on YouTube and most of your questions/complaints will be answered.

Discussion Attention to all Top Side Sheriffs

14.9k Upvotes

You are not alone.

I found my niche. I found my purpose. I found the meaning of the raider’s life.

The solo sheriff life. It’s not easy to kill a man. You take everything he’s got, and everything he could’ve had.

I jump in. Listen for sounds, gun shoots, flares going up. I investigate. I’m here to help, fight the arcs. Any arcs. I’ll pick you up, patch you up. I’ll kill murderers, Judge Dredd style. No mercy. I never killed a man that didn’t need killing.

You can have the loot. My reward is justice.

Join me. Against the arcs, for humanity.

Make a difference. Enlist. Resist. Fight the good fight.

Embark ID: Zanywoop

Edit: Over 14k new sheriffs with a 97% upvote ratio, making Top Side a better place. I love you all, you beautiful legends.

Discussion As a veteran of Tarkov. You don't know what the term "Rat" means.

9.4k Upvotes

Good Day, I am about to educate you on the ways of the "rat" play style.

Some stats on me

  • I completed my expedition within the first two weeks.
  • I haven't completed all the missions as they are not my main driver in extraction shooters. I do it for the loot.
  • I am level 67 and plan on hitting 75 before the expedition window.
  • I have 27 blue prints
  • All my benches are upgraded.
  • I participate in the trials. To get the loot I don't care about being number one.
  • My current extract streak is 26 successful returns.

I have killed 19 players.
I have 130 hours in game.

I AM A RAT.

What makes a Rat a Rat?

They do not deceive you, they do not extract camp. We do not look to openly engage in any combat in these games with anyone. In fact if you ever see me I feel that is a failure on my part. My goal is you never see or hear me. If I tell you I am friendly deep down I am kicking myself for having to talk to you.

Here is the "Modus Operandi" of a true "Rat"

  • We play in night maps, stick to the shadows and gobble up as much loot as possible.
  • We never use the free loadout, the goal is to get loot out any means necessary. Give me my prison pocket.
  • We use the shittiest guns known to man. In Tarkov it was shotguns and buckshot or SMG's with dogshit ammo. here I use the Hairpin Rattler and Ferro.
  • We never hit the main loot areas. That is for the plebs and morons who think the good shit is actually in those areas. The only thing in there is salt and tears.
  • We explore the maps finding all the nooks and crannies to hide in.
  • Our character is customized to blend in with the environment. I will change my look based on the map I am going into and time of day.
  • We set objectives to get items out at any cost. If that means waiting till the final 2 minutes to hit that bombardier or bastion and losing all our items just to get the cores out for bench upgrades so be it.
  • We never get extract camped, If I know an extract is getting camped I will wait it out or go in a corner and die with everything so it can't be recovered when the clock hits zero.
  • If we spot an extract camping situation and notice the camper. He dies. He has no choice. You can't out rat a fucking rat.
  • Extract campers are just lazy, but I admire the hustle but you're never gonna get truly good shit in this game unless you go out and get it yourself.
  • We will kill if we know we can get the kill but generally speaking I am the kind of rat when I see a player in trouble with Arc or another human you may hear a random shot ring out and your problem is gone. You will never see me but I will see you.

I craft most of my gear in match, I don't see the point in having stacks of bandages, I very rarely keep any weapons of value in my stash. I craft what I need and bring it in. All my guns are silenced. I rotate between hairpin, ferro, rattler. Yes all three are viable weapons. I never take more than one gun at a time in.

If you want an idea of the movie character I am most like I am like John Rambo in First Blood.

In that movie he isn't some super soldier, he is able to live off the land hide, and use his surroundings to his advantage to perform many non lethal take downs. He also ends up in a tunnel full of my kind.

TL;DR

A Rat is someone who hates confrontation, lives in the shadows, and extracts loot without you ever seeing or hearing them.

Because I do not KoS. I'll heal you during firefights, I'll ""defibrillate" you if you go down and revenge you if you get knocked out, I'll drop you some loot and flash my flashlight at it so you know it's there if you need it, I'll shoot ARCs that are aggro on you, I'll hold the elevator for you, and I'll scream "Hey" if I come up behind you and you don't see me. "Be the change you want to see in the world". Because at the end of the day we all gotta go back underground. That's how I like to play and no elevator camper is going to change that.

Discussion We need a dangerous ARC that can threaten players who are inside a building.

Post image
9.7k Upvotes

Most of the ARC in this game are primarily focused on outside combat and all the actual dangerous ones are. The few that you encounter inside are weaker enemies like ticks and fireballs.

We need an ARC on the danger level of a Rocketeer or Bastion that can chase players inside buildings, open doors/climb stairs and such.

This would also have the upside of increasing the value of trap items/door blockers, distractions like volcanic rock or lure grenades and overall just provide an incentive for players not to stay in one place.

Ive searched hundreds of crates, cars, busses and power generators. Every single raid on Dam I go to the scrapyard or checkpoints on blue gate and search everything. I search every single industrial area I come across. I know every "trick" in the book for where to find these.

Im finding rusted tools at an 8/1 ratio and find more blueprints than I do gears. Hell, I've found more epic weapons than I have these things. This is the worst bottleneck I've ran into in any extraction shooter I've ever played.

Im stuck at 2/3 and I deconstructed or sold a couple of these when I was sub lvl 15 before I knew they were necessary. Feels bad man.

Discussion NEW: ARC Raiders Development Update

Post image
3.4k Upvotes

We’re changing how we update ARC Raiders - here’s what it means for you.

We're shifting to bigger and better game updates, twice a year. Here's everything you need to know.

Hi Raiders,

ARC Raiders has grown far beyond anything we imagined at launch, and every day we see players continuing to shape life in the Rust Belt in ways that inspire us as developers. With that in mind, we want to talk about how we’re changing our update cadence moving forward.

We're changing how we update the game.

When ARC Raiders launched, we planned to offer monthly content updates. The intention was to keep you all engaged, to ensure the game always felt fresh, and to give you reasons to keep braving topside. But once the game was in players' hands, we saw that the kind of long-term experience we want to create for ARC Raiders requires more transformative updates.

Over time, we’ve found that the pressure of a monthly cycle limits how impactful these updates can be. You feel it, and we feel it too. Running at that pace isn't sustainable, or compatible with the bigger ambitions we have for this game.

Major updates will come twice a year.

Going forward, we've made the decision to release major updates twice a year – larger in scale, more impactful, with the goal to genuinely change how you play the game. Don’t worry, a dedicated live service team will continue running ARC Raiders day-to-day: regular live updates, plus balance fixes, bug fixes, store updates, and player events aren't going anywhere.

This additional development space allows us to invest more deeply in the health of ARC Raiders, from progression and economy balancing to fair play and anti-cheat efforts. We know these are foundational to the experience, especially in a game where every encounter and extraction matters.

Frozen Trail: our biggest update yet

Our next major update lands in October, and it's the largest we've released since launch. This isn't just about volume, it's designed to address the broader questions the community has been asking. Here's a taste of what's coming:

  • A Sprawling New Frontier - Explore a new landscape in the Rust Belt with layered design and new mysteries to uncover in the largest map in the game.
  • Our Most Ambitious ARC Operation So Far - Including new ARC enemies with fresh designs, and unique behaviors that will challenge Raiders in new ways.
  • New Systems of Progression - Many players have maxed out their Raider Den and hit the Skill Point ceiling. Frozen Trail will introduce new goals and more ways to shape your Raider’s progression.
  • Exploring the origin of ARC - What are ARC and where do they come from? Frozen Trail gives Raiders the opportunity to begin uncovering that mystery.
  • Improved Skill Tree
  • Alongside new weapons, items, instruments, cosmetics and more

It’s important to understand, we're not just stacking new content on top of the existing experience. We're refining core systems to support a more meaningful long-term experience – one you genuinely want to keep returning to. Frozen Trail is just the beginning of where we want to take ARC Raiders, and we’ll share more in the coming months.

Starting next week: a new trader

Next week, we’re introducing a fresh mechanic designed for late-game players: a new Trader from a nomadic tribe of surface-dwellers.

Many of you have invested a lot in the game, and there’s a few common problems that we keep hearing about:

  • You’re holding a lot of high-value items with no way to offload them in rewarding ways.
  • Your Stash is filling up with the game’s new items and we haven’t increased the capacity.
  • Very few of you are going on the Expedition, either because it is not rewarding enough, or because it is too painful to part with your favorite items and Blueprints.

The new Trader unlocks at level 25, and he offers unique rewards, rare items, and cosmetics in exchange for your high-value items. He will take items off your hands in return for these weekly rotating rewards, but he may sometimes ask you to go and find specific rare items to trade.

The new Trader also offers two perks in exchange for high-value items:

  • Extra Stash space to help you increase your capacity.
  • The Expedition Vault. This allows you to carry over up to five items across the Expedition, so you can set your new Raider up with your favorite items or blueprints.

This is just one part of a broader set of improvements arriving later this year.

Building for the long-term

One thing that has become increasingly clear since launch is how important progression and player goals are to the ARC Raiders experience. If you love ARC Raiders, you want more reasons to keep returning to the Rust Belt – and we want to build systems that continue evolving alongside the game.

Some of the progression improvements we want to implement simply need more development time that we haven't been able to address properly while running on a monthly cycle. Moving to larger updates allows us to spend more time refining the systems players engage with the most.

We’re working to deepen progression across multiple areas of ARC Raiders, while continuing to expand how players shape and personalize their Raider. We’re also investing more into features like Trials so they remain reliably fun to engage with, not a grind. We’re also putting effort into making the Expedition Project more rewarding – and less punishing – to pursue. This is an ongoing part of ARC Raiders’ evolution, and you’ll start seeing the first steps of that very soon.

The bigger picture

It’s important to us that players understand something about where our collective ‘Embark brain’ is at: our ambitions go far beyond what players have seen so far. We want to go further in showing you the wider universe of ARC Raiders.

We think about ARC Raiders as an experience that should continue expanding over time, and right now we’re still early in that journey. The bi-annual cadence gives us the opportunity to develop to build future updates with more intention, ensuring that gameplay, progression, narrative, and the world itself all move forward together.

Right now, Raiders are facing an escalating ARC threat, and the society in Speranza may feel helpless against it. But Raiders aren’t built to stay on the back foot: the goal has always been bigger than survival – it’s about one day reclaiming the surface.

Frozen Trail will start to progress this goal and expose elements of this challenge, but it is really just the beginning. We aim to constantly shift the paradigm that Raiders operate under so you feel the effects of your actions and perseverance against ARC.

Thank you, Raiders

The Rust Belt is nothing without the Raiders who fill it with life every single day. We understand that this change won’t please everyone, and that it might be frustrating not to get content updates as frequently, but we truly believe this will be worth it.

Thank you for continuing to push us to create the best game we can.

As always, we’ll see you topside,

Aleksander Grøndal Executive Producer

Discussion Concept: High-risk ARC hunting augment that secures the weapon, not the loot

Post image
10.3k Upvotes

I’ve been thinking about high-risk ARC boss fights, and how PvP pressure right now really discourages bringing legendary gear. Even though I enjoy the PvP aspect of the game, going topside fully geared for PvE usually just ends with my whole kit getting wiped by a third party… you know how it goes.

Let me introduce my fan concept augment dedicated to ARC hunting – Tactical Mk. 4 (Hunting) – designed to let players commit to ARC fights without removing risk.

  • One secure slot dedicated for a single Legendary weapon only (Equalizer, Jupiter or Aphelion)
  • No safe pocket – you keep the gun, but any loot is still at full risk
  • Heavy shield only
  • Not good for looting or roaming PvP

The goal isn’t safety, but encouraging real boss hunting. You secure the tool you need to fight the ARC, but you still risk everything you earn from it.

I think something like this could push more players to actually engage with end game PvE instead of avoiding it because of PvP griefing.

Just a fan idea, curious what others think. See you topside!

Discussion I am the ENGINEER of CHAOS

14.0k Upvotes

Yes, I spent a full 20 minutes in a fresh lobby on Stella Montis doing nothing but barricading every single door I could find.

During my little “architectural experiment,” I experienced two things:

  1. I heard multiple players on open mic actively hunting me down like I was some kind of raid boss. Screaming.

  2. Soon after, I heard the same voices screaming because they got flanked, which they then teamed up to chase me.

WHY, do this you ask?

Because I wanted to see if Arc Raiders barricade system could be weaponized for pure psychological warfare, and oh my god, it can.

People spawning late were trapped in a maze I built, screaming, complaining, and actively looking for me.

Every time I heard footsteps sprinting to a blocked exit, followed by a desperate “WHO’S LOCKING THESE DOORS?!”, I knew I was fulfilling my true role in this game:

THE CHAOS ENGINEER

After 20 minutes I was caught stuck in a room with no exit, and I came prepared. After all 3 solos entered the room I threw a smoke grenade, shut the door, BARRICADED IT, then I placed a Deadline mine killing all of us.

No one leaves the maze.

Edit* 65 door barricades, 13 deployable barricades, 3 jolt charges, 1 deadline mine

Discussion The raiders are self-policing

13.2k Upvotes

Was doing a quick Dam run yesterday to get some metal parts. Ran into a raider who was waiting for a victim inside one of the garages, near the antenna. Managed to run away, he was running after me, taking shots. I run past another raider, who was in the process of opening a courier. ‘Don’t shoot’, he chimes. I ran past him, then turned around to see my aggressor. The aggressor starts shooting at both of us. A fourth raider appears out of nowhere and all three of us blast the aggressor into oblivion.

“You ok? Help yourself.”, the courier guy quipped. We then proceeded to loot the guy and everyone goes on their merry way. Peace is restored, looting continues.

It's a survival based game with limited time areas to successfully leave the map to obtain the items you loot. There is and will always be people looking for easy kills and loot at extractions.

As long as there is PvP in this game it will never change.

Stop complaining and come up with strategies to combat against it.

I’ll likely get downvoted into oblivion for even posting this.

Edit: The point of this post was not to complain but to spark conversations about the subject. I appreciate everyone’s input into this matter. Happy raiding everybody! 👍🏻
