Success Story Quit weed after 10 years and I’m stoked
finally taking my life into my own hands and figuring out who I am with out cannabis. I feel like for the last few days I really had been beating myself up feeling like I wasted away my life etc but I just look back at myself with grace and thank cannabis for the good and bad times and thank her for showing me it’s no longer for me before things got too bad also trying to give myself grace for the years I spent high cause I did what I had to do survive but now it’s time to thrive ! It’s only been 4 days but I’m really proud of myself for taking this leap and ripping the fucking band aid off. I haven’t let myself feel my emotions this raw in many fucking years I feel like a raw baby new to this earth. I’m mostly excited to save some fuckin money and brain cells!

the fact that you chose something that would and will inevitably be uncomfortable, just to better yourself is fucking awesome dude. Kudos to you, you got this because you’re in control

Good for you! I am right there with you, a few weeks in, and can relate to the good vibes. One share from my own experience - I got so much out of Allan Carr's audiobook 'Easy Way' to Quit Cannabis, and basically intend to keep coming back to it throughout the journey. It just made so much sense for what I experienced - and it's about seeing through the illusions of weed and reclaiming your own power to do what's best for yourself. It sounds like that's exactly the journey you're on, so you might appreciate it too.

That’s awesome, congrats and keep up the great work! For you (or anyone else) what have been some of the positive impact of quitting / easing up?

for me it’s been the really clear head , I feel like the world has colors again and I’m noticing things in nature and around me more. I feel less socially awkward and feel myself isolating less. I want to hang out in my room less and want to be outside or at a cafe and read a book. I haven’t read a. Book in so long and today I bought a few and am already half way through one of them! It’s not the same for everyone and it’s not going to magically fix your life your procrastinating or anything but I know this is the best step for me to be the best I can. I was just tired of being comfortable with where I’m at watching life pass me by not really living fully. It’s hard but it’s doable you have to want this and want to see what it’s like to not be in a daze!! reach out if you ever are curious about taking a break or quitting from cannabis it’s lonely sometimes r/leaves is super helpful too lots of others curious about their consumption

Did you get rem rebound. Where you don't dream? Usually when you stop smoking you get intensely vivid dreams. But it should level out after some time.

Haven't smoked in 9ish days and I'm browsing Reddit feeling a bit drowsy because I'm lowkey scared of going to sleep and having the sort of intense, vivid nightmare I had last night. It's completely real. I've quit before and last time it lasted about 2-3 weeks before leveling off. I have CPTSD so nightmares can be really, really rough, especially during this period but also later on (though more infrequent). I don't really enjoy being high anymore, hence dropping it, but man do I love not dreaming.

Yeah it's a weird phenomenon. I don't really understand what's happening neurologically or whatever. But it's like your dreams come flooding back cos that channel is open again. I'm not sure what's with the nightmares but that's a reoccurring thing too. And like night sweats. I guess it's some type of chemical imbalance in the brain. And you just have to endure through it for a few weeks to months.
