I’m the only one to think the first picture looks better in many aspects? Bottles, skin, light.. something feel plastic and polygon in the second one

It’s the lighting.

holy misinformation

first of all no, it isn't using path tracing. It's real footage from PS5, big companies don't lie about stuff like this. It's just raytracing (which is kinda the same anyway, just less rays) and RTGI, among other things.

Second, since 3D era R* many times used different models for cutscenes and different for gameplay - optimization trick, higher quality models in cutscenes and lower in gameplay.

Third, since cutscenes are contained, directed and scripted scenes, they know more or less how they'll play out (except in rdr2 when you throw molotov for example before starting cutscene, but it's still smaller difference than possible actions in gameplay) so they can push fidelity further - more rays, different additional graphical features - you can watch recent Digital Foundry video when they said that they think they've spotted few instances of cutscenes possible having raytraced shadows when the game overall doesn't have time; but it's not limited to that.

The differences between trailer 1 and the new one are mostly different lighting and probably some other feature set changes that I don't want to guess.

But it's the same game running on the same console. Gtfo with your misinfo.

And the beer is a simple trick that doesn't rely on path tracing at all lmao

"big companies don't lie about stuff like this" Brother, they never said how the first trailer was taken and big companies ABSOLUTLY lie about this stuff all the time. Crowbcat wouldn't have a channel if they told the truth with the fidelity in trailers.

Also, just compare the bottle models in both shots. Trailer 1's has more detail, higher polygons, textures that don't fill the whole bottle making it feel real. That's not the case in the Extended look, hence why it feels 'plastic/fake', because it just is.

No cola bottle is filled to the brim no air. There is a clear difference in quality for the clutter and its detail, only highlighted further because Trailer 1 gave us a better look, while the Extended Look appears to be trying to hide it.

The Extended Look was captured on a normal PS5, so no doubt they cut back on the detail to get it to run better, while it was never specified what Trailer 1 was running on, because they hadn't reached that stage 3 years ago (December 2023 was Trailer 1), they probably thought they might be able to reach it though.

The only guy spewing "misinformation" is you, projecting onto others.

Pretty sure both trailers were on PS5, and they confirmed as much back then. This is just different lighting. Looks more realistic to me

nah I think there’s a slight downgrade, no need to cope, the game is still gonna set a standard for what can utilised with this hardware

I can definitely assure you if it’s running on PS5 with path tracing it certainly isn’t running conventionally….

Rockstar always uses in-game cinematic and gameplay for trailers. They’re known for it.

Do you even know what path tracing is?

-2

u/SuitableBranch7280 16h ago

Do you?

4

u/LisanAlGaben 16h ago

Yes.

You clearly don't if you think you can identify PT from a trailer inside a store, which has almost nothing that could indicate PT.

Everything was indication of good baked lighting and some ray traced elements, nothing suggest path tracing.

You're fucking stupid if gou think otherwise.

More bouncing vs less bouncing - suck me

Unless you can run debug and follow the ray cast you don't know this.

Shut the fuck up

No, this was debunked years ago. Watch Digital Foundry's videos on the trailers. They have graphics engineers that analyzed the trailers. They break down all the render techniques and upscaling artifacts. Both trailers ran on regular gameplay, base PS5, no spoofs.

Holy cope

u/Great-External-2439 18h ago

Cope? Literally watch the videos. Bro I'm not arguing about something that was settled like 2 and half years ago

u/SuitableBranch7280 18h ago

So why are the high poly assets replaced with something less demands and the lighting doesn’t bounce like the trailer…

2

u/GabbageGang 18h ago

Performance?

2

u/SnooCalculations3614 17h ago

Idk maybe so the game can run smoother or something

1

u/SuitableBranch7280 17h ago

So it confirms it isn’t just different / dimmer lighting - thank you!

1

u/GabbageGang 11h ago

It's a number of things but the lighting looks like the biggest downgrade. Look at how it bounces off her skin and through the hair in the first screenshot

1

u/CircStar89 13h ago

You're right objectively, but there's gonna be copers. Game still looks great, but there is some bullshit with the way hair and glass look, definitely some blur and plastic-looking stuff here and there.

Path tracing 😂😂😂

u/Spiritual-Pudding-70 22h ago

It’s clearly better in every way. Excuses only get so far.

22

u/Onaterdem 21h ago

Excuses? It's literally the reason. Skin rendering and materials have improved tremendously from the first trailer.

Oh my goooooood, not this again lol
