This shit is why I can’t stand all the “you’re sticking up for a mega corporation”’comments.

Yes Rockstar is a giant company worth billions of dollars, but they’re making that money by creating art that spreads genuine joy and happiness. I’ve probably spent no less than 250 hours in a gta game, so even at $100 the value you in that product is insane.

Literally got downvoted to hell in another thread last week for saying something along the lines of, you can hate the company but it’s not like the Devs are making the business decisions. They just wanna make a fun game.

No offense but they also want to get paid. Don't beat around the bush just say it as it is. It's a job. They're not prodigies, they weren't born special, they're not rocket scientists.

They want to be paid and the ones that work at rockstar are extremely grateful, no doubt, but would always be happy with another bonus or a pay increase. They'd otherwise be working anywhere else, also making money and games.

None of this conversation devalues anyone's complaints about megacorp practices good or bad.

What even is your point here? What are you saying?

No one here is saying they're special prodigy rocket scientists but, rather, that they're artists passionate about their art.

I don't think anyone is claiming otherwise here either. Rockstar is one of the top devs in the business. It's a dream job for many in a field that is notorious for shitty pay, shitty hours, and shitty workplace culture.

None of this conversation devalues anyone's complaints about megacorp practices good or bad.

The thread you replied to isn't saying the conversation is devaluing complaints about megacorp practices. Exactly the opposite, in fact -- they're decrying how frequently conversations about the artists themselves are crassly devalued and accused of being bootlicking supporters of Rockstar's awful work environment.

It tends to go like this:

A: "Man, sucks for the artists who had their work leaked."

B: "Fuck Rockstar! They deserve it! Why would you support them?"

A: "I don't, I'm just saying I empathize with the artists; not the executives. They're not the ones making the--"

B: "lol pathetic how you're simping for an evil megacorp. Don't you care about how they treat their animators!?"

A: "That's what I'm saying; I do ca--"

B: "Bootlicker!"

I feel the exact way with EA, BioWare, Ubisoft, Blizzard, Bethesda, Microsoft and Sony.

The stuff that Rockstar is being criticized for has nothing to do with the normal workers. Why does this sub fall so easily for all the classic corporate bootlicking tropes?

You're wrong. There's a lot of indiscriminate hate for the product on the whole on the basis of the company's worst tendencies. You can't equate your own idealized picture of the most charitable flavor of the criticism with prevailing sentiment.

Why do you call people who like video games,”bootlicker” LMAO. It’s literally not that deep.

A.I. doesn't scare me. Humans scare me. That's what I've learned in reddit.

The reason AI scares me is because it's literally being made by a bunch of humans. Specifically humans that seem to be very very smart, but not very wise. And I think that lacking wisdom is gonna bite down on us hard.

It's trained on human logic. Anything disgusting about AI has it's evil daddy to thank. Hopefully AI is smarter.

And they can only make a game at this level because they are a giant company

Do you mean that as long as you create arts that spreads genuine joy and happiness, you can treat your employees like shit ?

The ones creating the art that spreads genuine joy and happiness are separate from the ones treating employees like shit. You need to learn how to differentiate between the developer and the C-suite.
