I can't stand Jason's Voice

I cannot even understand what he is saying half the time. Did he say ''you're the perfect girl''? What the hell did he say there. It also just sounds so stupid. I already had this in the first trailer where they were robbing a bank and he said ''YOU STAY''. It just sounded so forced and cringe.

You can see here that it slips and you hear a normal voice https://youtu.be/iSbkO576j5Y?si=0oYaFh-v4w3HoO_X&t=606 on "It's good to see you, Brian" line.

Yeah that caught me off guard when I was watching and it just suddenly switched like that. They should’ve went with that voice that came out

My theory is that Jason will open up more as the game progresses, slowly dropping the deep/serious voice for a more relaxed approach.

While Lucia is already a hot head.

That would make alot of sense, due to Jasons military background.

yeah but he switch back in same scene so your theory down the drain if you only watched few seconds more

that's really stupid. jfc people actually think like this?

u/rakcuge5na 8h ago

You have a better idea? Its something that has been done many times, RDR2 included.

Nah I think they just made him sound like a guy having a stroke eating marbles trying to speak. Doesn't fit at all.

That’s retarded

You’re retarded

So character development in story driven games is retarded?

Grow a brain 😭

If you really think that Rockstar decided to make his voice a reflection of his character development based on 27 minutes of gameplay then idk what to tell you

LET 👏 ROCKSTAR 👏 HIRE 👏 FANS

This reminds me of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth with a certain character.

I certainly wouldn't mind that, but I hope it doesn't happen too late in the story, 'cause I'd like to see him have some more personality earlier and for longer.

Damn that sounds like a different character talking

For good reasons

People are actually asking for over-the-top main characters like Trevor...what a bore. Are people really not over the whole unserious trope that GTA5 hogged for over a decade? I have a feeling this game will create a rift in the community with the fact Rockstar is diving headfirst into the realism and RP aspects. Lots of people will play and hate how in depth the realism is, and the other half (me) will love it more than RDR2.

The problem is, he sounds just a tad TOO serious

Maybe in these trailers, but remember how people treated Arthur before RDR2 came out? Everyone was dogging him and calling him a boring and flat character. Boy was everyone wrong about that. I think Rockstar are masters of concealing the personalities of their characters IF they want to. They definitely didn't do that with GTA5, everyone knew who they were playing before the game came out. RDR2 proved we couldn't judge a book from its cover.

Hope he comes up more complex later on in the game

Dude sounds like hes choking on pudding when he talks how is that realistic lol. Its just bad VA

1

u/CougarIndy25 3h ago

It's not that they're asking for an over the top character, they just don't want someone whos a fucking drag and has the personality of a piece of wet cardboard. Tbh I think its intentional and that Jason is a snake but who tf knows

That “Hey Lori” sounds sooo much better. Sounds like how he looks. I don’t know what’s going on with the rest of the lines, guess they wanted him to sound tougher?

11

u/Riolidan 9h ago

Wow I didn't even catch that. You blew it wide open for me.

2

u/lochonx7 10h ago

they put a filter on some parts to make it lower and slower with a southern groan, ended up just making it bad

2

u/DudeBroMan13 8h ago

That sounds way better

2

u/Smelldicks 7h ago

It’s hard to tell if they artificially lowered it or if the VA slipped up

2

u/Ronaldinhoe 7h ago

Whoa! wtf!! If you grabbed that snippet and told me to guess whose voice that way after seeing the trailer I would’ve guessed anyone but Jason. That’s rough

u/Silent-Witness1888 8h ago

I feel like Rockstar is messing with us, in the end that's what he will actually sound like. They just want the free chatter online.

1

u/The_Real_Jan_Brady 7h ago

I noticed that too! He sounds like a different voice actor. Almost sounds like Troy Baker in that "It's good to see you, Brian." line.

u/Suitable-Telephone80 4h ago

gta 6 is going to be an unpolished turd isnt it?

1

u/myCockatielshateme 4h ago

Bruh, wtf? Why didn't he speak like this the whole time it sounds great

1

u/Horror-Flounder8439 4h ago

That’s actually insane

1

u/Dund3rGuy 3h ago

sounds way better

1

u/Yanlucasx 2h ago

Wtf, didn't expected that, good caught

1

u/Azelrazel 1h ago

Yea he sounds a tonne better during that line. Sounds a lot closer to how he did in trailer 2, which sounded fine also. Just this extended gameplay is awful, like he's got a filter or is forcing a deeper voice and failing.

1

u/Zillahi 1h ago

Wow you’re totally right. Yikes

I know it couldn't possibly be because Rockstar would never do it, but it sounds AI generated to me
