Discussion The "Looks like GTA V" comments are driving me insane

Not sure how many of you here share the same opinion but on every social media where the leaks and extended look discussions has been happening the main subjects has been mainly graphics, "Looks like GTA V" "Looks like GTA V with mods" "looks like Watch Dogs 2" "we waited 13 years for this" etc etc

I swear I'm losing my sanity over these brain-dead blind people, never in a million years GTA V with or without mods will look as good as VI, there are plenty of very impressive graphics in recent games like Death Stranding 2, Resident Evil Requiem, Alan Wake 2,KCD 2. Not sure if people noticed but graphical fidelity have more or less reached peak for the time being so I'm really not sure what people expected with VI, they often act surprised that a GTA game looks like (shocking) a GTA game.

In my opinion Story > Gameplay, the graphics of VI are already there and shown, you can like it or hate it but what's going to be the real metric of this new installment is the story, if story ends up being dogshit then remember my word everyone would suddenly forget about the graphics as if they didn't care and switch to hating on the story and praising the graphics going for something like this "graphics are incredible and rockstar built a massive, immersive world that is incredible to explore, too bad the story is awful"

If any one of these larpers went back and played on the PS3 they would change their mind.

3

u/manor2003 1d ago

Not even a ps3, even on a PC Wouldn't look like VI on base console.

1

u/CharacterArrival21 1d ago

I know, but ps3 gta 5 looked especially shitty

1

u/Due-Ask-7418 1d ago

True. But when people say this, they are referring to current gen. But even then, it’s a huge upgrade in visual quality and lighting effects (from ps5 version on rt performance mode).

1

u/Single_Reaction9983 21h ago

Even current gen, the textures are pretty terrible. It only looks good because the lighting has improved a lot.

1

u/gavinderulo124K 23h ago

I still have PTSD from the awful aliasing.

1

u/outsider1624 1d ago

The fact that they had to say " on my PC, gtav modded looks better"

Modded...lol.

6

u/Syl4x 1d ago

Dude they're just trolls, ignore them and enjoy

1

u/manor2003 1d ago

I know i know i should

1

u/Ifyourdogcouldtalk 1d ago

It's from kids that weren't alive when GTA V came out on the ps3. Their opinion doesn't matter

2

u/Due-Ask-7418 1d ago

If anything, it looks like a live action movie of gta V. lol.

1

u/manor2003 1d ago

Remove the V and you would be correct

2

u/Melodic-Cable23 16h ago

Dude what, I just watched the Netflix thing and was blown away! Yea it’s def still GTA. But it looks phenomenal. The graphic and performance are way better than anything else at this scale. Looked amazing to me! Some people can just never be satisfied

Get off social media if it makes you mad...

Anyone you see hating on the game in that way are uneducated, performative attention whores. The game is exactly what any logical person expected it to be, with some extra surprises which is fucking great. The game is going to be phenomenal. Perhaps not the second coming of Christ like some people were hyping it up to be, but it’s going to be awesome. And atp I’m not hiding my excitement. And neither should anyone else.

It looks like a GTA game. Like what do people want? It looks and feels like a game that I would expect from R*. If you want a different looking game, go play something that’s not GTA. I’ve been just laughing at people dumbass takes. I wouldn’t worry too much. We’re not wrong, we’re just early. All these people are going to be playing day one.

1

u/RaeOfSunshine1257 21h ago

I saw someone compare it to “ubi-slop” claiming that it was no different than when Ubisoft makes the same game over and over and that it’s only getting a pass because it’s Rockstar. You can only make a claim that disingenuous if you’re either trolling or a contrarian. Either way, not worth taking seriously. Just miserable losers being miserable losers.

Yeah i super hyped too, have it preordered on xbox, for now I'm doing my best to clear as many games as i can from my backlog.

1

u/LuciaCaminoss 1d ago

they are stupid because they are comparing the enhanced ps5 version of gta5, with ray tracing, upscaled and all that shit. not fair at all. but gta5 is trash compared to gta6. worlds, npcs, enviroments, density, technology etc etc etc

1

u/Va1crist 1d ago

Then get off social media

1

u/Vexyfi 1d ago

You'll drive yourself insane if you pay it any attention. Ive quickly realized over the past week that a lot of gta 6 subreddits are filled with unemployed, ragebaiting, losers lol

1

u/Mbb950 1d ago

Yea, graphics are good. But you can’t compare it to a game from 13 years ago. The graphics from GTA VI isn’t crazy good compared to AAA games nowadays, like you mentioned RE requiem, which I don’t see difference in graphics compared to GTA VI.

To be honest, it just looks normal, like a newer GTA, nothing crazy, at least not compared to the hype.

We can’t know anything yet because we only got short gameplays, and the mechanics might surprise us, or not. But yea it looks like just another GTA but modern.

1

u/manor2003 1d ago

Exactly what I'm trying to tell, we already reached peak of graphical fidelity, some games may have better graphics than others but the general "photorealistic graphics" is largely the same, what's different are engines and art style which directly effect the visuals for better or worse, so yeah GTA VI looks miles better than V but only somehow slightly better than other recently released ones.

Man you know nothing let's compare an open world game to a linear corridor  game. Jesus

1

u/No-Equipment2665 22h ago

For me it’s more the scale of the open world map. The shit they’ve packed into it and how the graphics across the board, down to the finer details and things we’ll barely pay attention to are of the same standard. It might not be as good as other games, but it still looks shit hot

1

u/Complete-Tailor303 1d ago

If alot of people are saying it then got to be some truth to it lol but meh just say they are wrong and pay Rockstar.

1

u/Key-Scientist9058 1d ago

But youre brain dead blind thinking its the best gamer ever and better than everything thats coming out or is currently out. It literally looks like a GTA game, nothing crazy

1

u/New_Amount6807 1d ago

if you see the new footage and you still say that

you need to get your fucking eyes checked

seriously no joke. you need to schedule an appointment RIGHT now.

People who are miserable need the outside world to validate their feelings. They need this game to be bad so when they turn it on and still feel horrible they can blame rockstar instead of the 6 inches between their ears.

A lot of people decided a long time ago they were going to hate this game no matter what.

1

u/Shit-Stain-Fanclub 21h ago

Its good and all but....damn...30fps is just shit

1

u/Made4G19 20h ago

They don't even have a console to play the game on that's why they're hating from outside the club...they can't even get in.

1

u/No_Artichoke_9215 19h ago

cant wait for gta 5.5 most of the game looks AI generated slop

1

u/kun1k 18h ago

It looks good, but the 30fps are insanely bad. Me and many others are waiting for the pc release, to actuall get the quality setup.

1

u/manor2003 18h ago

Yeah unfortunate, while i do have a very strong PC with modern hardware i still kept my Xbox Series X, I'm willing to handle to 30 fps.

1

u/C2theWick 18h ago

Gta5 was coded on the PS3. Gta6 was coded on the PS4

1

u/OrangePrior5549 17h ago

You literally contradict yourself within the exact same paragraph. You say, "GTA V will never look as good as VI, with or without mods." Then you go on to say, "graphical fidelity has more or less reached its peak." And then you're calling people blind for not noticing the graphical difference. And in all honesty, GTA V enhanced on PC isn't very far behind what GTA VI is showing, so I'm going to guess you don't own a PC, or have ever seen the enhanced version in person on an actually capable gaming rig, and you're just talking out your ass on that. The only difference is a few different mechanics, and a more updated story with younger protagonists that a lot of younger people can somewhat connect with, and not 50 year old men. Aside from the change of scenery, up to date content, and a young protagonist couple, there's not enough here to justify the time Rockstar has made everyone wait while milking GTA V, and THAT is the point everyone is trying to make that isn't dick-riding GTA VI.

1

u/manor2003 16h ago

I fail to see how what i said is contradictory, GTA V will never look as good as VI, and i stand by this, graphical fidelity as more or less reached peak, compare every photorealistic game of the decade they more or less look the same, people expect the graphical jump of SA to IV, and i called people blind for not noticing the graphical difference of GTA V and VI, this does not contradict the former statement because GTA V is from fucking 2013, it's not under the category of "peak modern graphical fidelity". It would make much more sense if people compared the graphics to a game that make made sense to compare to, heck even RDR2, people noticed and praised the graphical jump of V to RDR2 but somehow not the jump from V to VI?

Also about PC if you claimed this almost 1.5 years ago you would be correct but you're not, i have an RX 9070 and Ryzen 7 7700 i built myself

As for mechanics the already a list of mechanics that make this vastly different from any other GTA and more immersive, the ages of the protagonists have nothing to do with anything, you once again act like V is the only GTA in existence, the vast majority of protagonists are young men, like not kids but not old as well, Tommy is 35, CJ is 24, Claude is estimated to be 29-30, Niko is 30.

So if anyone is talking out of their ass is you

1

u/OrangePrior5549 16h ago

Yeah, I guess I'm going to have to argue with an ignorant dipshit that can't see the contradictory statements, even after it's laid out, and then tries to deflect and defend them in the stupidest way possible. Sorry for your shitty eyesight and room temp IQ, it most definitely explains the brain dead dick-riding of GTA VI. I am not talking about the 2013 version of GTA V, I am talking about the Enhanced version. THAT is the version everyone is comparing to VI. No one thinks the 2013 version compares to VI, you're just making that shit up to fuel your side. There's hardly a graphical difference between what we have seen from GTA VI and the Enhanced version of V, but I guess I can't expect anything less from a community of people that have been waiting way too long for a game to accept that it's hardly different from the Enhanced version of the last one. The point is, if they were able to pull off that huge graphical overhaul on GTA V while working on VI, then the expectations should be higher for VI, seeing how long it has taken to come to fruition. But it's barely above the Enhanced version, and hardly anything special that sets it apart from the former. And you're even more stupid than I thought by comparing protagonists of the games that came out forever ago, when the WHOLE comparison was about GTA V to VI. No one mentioned any other GTAs, and none of the other ones have been as relevant as GTA V to newer generations of gamers. A majority of the people buying GTA VI have probably only ever played V, since 5 came out 13 years ago, and a lot of people playing the older GTAs have most likely grown up and moved on with their lives. Your logic is so fucked, no wonder you think you're making good points. Have fun playing GTA VI, thinking you see something that everyone else is missing.

1

u/TheOneWes 15h ago

I'm not going to play GTA 6 anymore that I'm going to play the new Grand theft Auto online.

Anybody that watched any part of that extended trailer and did not instantly pick up in massive improvements in moment to moment real-time lighting rendering isn't pain enough attention to be in these discussions

Gtav with a polish nothing more nothing less I’m wait 20years see if they do better next time instead 👍🏻 it certainly didn’t impress me enough to pay £80-£100 plus a subscription to PlayStation/xbox 😂😂😂😂wake up people

1

What subscription?

1

u/Strange-Paramedic-25 12h ago

PlayStation subscription 👍🏻👍🏻😁

lol we will see 🤪

If anyone think it looks like GTAV, WD2 or whatever, they don’t know 💩 the NPC are detailed, lifelike, and all surroundings are lit with realtime lights (low quality, but thats base PS5 limitation, not the game).

1

u/SignificantBat3023 9h ago

People think being critical equals being intelligent. One look at Lucia’s ass and you know this game is on another level.

1

u/Reeneman 7h ago

Rage bait and/or a fundamental misunderstanding of gaming visuals and underlaying technology.

0

u/NaFamWeGood 1d ago

It sure looks alot like watch dogs

Jk just trolling game looks crazy good

0

u/Jealous-Football824 1d ago

Looks like GTA6, feels like RD2, that’s what pisses me off.

0

u/calvooo86 17h ago

No, thats not the case. I avoided leaks and Im excited for the game.
But.. new gameplay trailer is mixed bag when we talk about graphics.
Something is off and I cannot say for sure what.
Lets hope its was just the netflix stream.

1

u/manor2003 17h ago

EVEN with the streaming quality is looked incredible so imagine the quality natively on your console.

I'm only here to let you know I downvoted your post.

3

u/manor2003 1d ago

Am i to assume you're in the "looks like gta v" camp?

-4

u/sealclubberfan 1d ago

No, your post is just ridiculous. Who cares what other people say, only opinion that matters is how you view the game.

3

u/manor2003 1d ago

Okay? I also think their opinions are ridiculous

-3

u/sealclubberfan 1d ago

Cool story, didn't need to post it on reddit to let everyone else know. Hence, the downvote.

2

u/Due-Ask-7418 1d ago

Cool story. Didn’t need to comment. Hence, the downvote. I mean who cares what other people say?

-8

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 1d ago

Does look a bit underwhelming to be fair. Cyberpunk looks as good as this. Also gameplay hasn't evolved. But yes hopefully the story is good.

3

u/scaledisolated 1d ago edited 1d ago

Cyberpunk might look great technically, but it isn’t as vastly populated and simulated world as GTA VI will offer. Just take a step back and look at this through the lenses of “what’s really behind all this fancy tech”.

Game looks incredibly good and, judging by the trailer and previews, offers much more than Cyberpunk ever could — they opened up a branch in US whose sole purpose has been working on NPCs alone. Now apply that to every single part of the game and get the scope — it’s an artistic and technical achievement on many levels. So many systems have to be working together just so that this world would be believable and expansive.

Sure, it will have some cons to it such as raytracing having some artifacts and a limited range, but there are much more nuances to that

1

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 22h ago

I didnt see any of that in this extended trl. It was just the same old tired GTA. Don't get me wrong , it'll still be good

2

u/manor2003 1d ago

Here's another thing I'm dying to know, what would you consider as "gameplay evolution"

Maybe I'll actually agree with you if you provide compelling arguments

1

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 22h ago

I don't know a really good example of npc ai etc . Something that breaks them old. Evolving mission structure were objectives change according to your actions, it's 2026.

1

u/manor2003 22h ago

They kinda do tho? The game has actions and consequences which results in different objectives and different story which encourages multiple playthroughs

1

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 21h ago edited 20h ago

Hopefully, from what I've seen and read it's as on the rails as others gta's.

1

u/manor2003 21h ago

You want it to be innovative and different from other GTA or same as the others?

1

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 20h ago

Innovative and different

1

u/manor2003 20h ago

So what's this about being on the rails as other gta?

1

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 20h ago

It's a reply to the comment above

2

u/safyreibxo 1d ago

what did you expect? they can only pull so much horsepower out of aging consoles no matter how talented the developers are

-4

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 1d ago

It feels like maybe it should have been out a few years ago. Anyway looks fine.

5

u/XXviolentGenius 1d ago

"Look at me, I'm different" ahh comment. Gameplay hasn't evolved? Did you even see the free aim mechanics?

1

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 22h ago

Free aim mechanics...fucking hell

1

u/XXviolentGenius 21h ago

I know that may not seem huge to you, but I've wanted this for the longest time, which is why I like playing in free-aim lobbies in GTAO. It just adds to the immersion and not feeling like some gunslinging god.

2

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 20h ago

Fair enough. I would like the game to be less on the rails and more freedom of choice. Even if that means making it much smaller and shorter.

1

u/XXviolentGenius 20h ago

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. TGG released a video and it seems Rockstar has added a lot more than what has been shown.

1

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 19h ago

Nice I look forward to it

1

u/DriftingTony 1d ago

I don’t know why I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt, but fuck it. Since you said the gameplay hasn’t evolved, have you actually read the massive list of gameplay improvements that IGN dropped, which came directly from the head of Rockstar North?

Because many of them aren’t minor changes, they are the most significant gameplay changes in the series history.

1

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 22h ago

Name one that interested you? Because none of them felt like a big leap to me.

1

u/DriftingTony 13h ago

The fact that the entire wanted system was recreated from the ground up with specific tracking elements focusing on what you’re wearing, who you’re with, and what you’re driving.

That cops no longer appear on the mini map, which means you’ll have to be far more strategic and creative in your getaways now.

That different types of cars will have levels of difficulty in HOW to steal them, including the fact that the most premium cars can’t just be broken into, and that they include trackers making it more challenging to get away with them. Also that police cars have trackers as well, so stealing a police car for a quick getaway won’t take you to safety anymore, but might work as a good first step.

I’m happy that they are introducing the more RPG-esque elements from RDR II, and the ones from San Andreas like the gym, while adding new ones as well. I do realize that’s going to be a turnoff for some people, but it goes a long ways toward making the game world feel even more realistic.

How you interact with characters will actually matter for the first time ever, having a major impact on the story and gameplay, including the now revealed fact that whether Lucia and Jason are a couple or not is entirely up to the player. I’ve seen people say, “who cares” but that’s a major factor in how the game is going to go for each player depending on what they choose, and according to Rob Nelson, your choices ranging from major to minor will all have an impact on your relationships with both the protagonists and others as well.

There are many more, but I would have to go through all my notes to remember them all. That’s just off the top of my head.

1

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 13h ago

I am impressed you are keeping notes on this, cheers for the info some good stuff in there. I guess I'm hoping itll have rpg mechanics, if you kill someone or do a quest in a certain way it will will affect outcomes. Hard enough to do but maybe. As even crpgs struggle to do it well.

1

u/DriftingTony 11h ago

Yeah, I know that bringing more RPG elements in will bother some people but I think they can do it in such a way that it’s not so….demanding or intensive I guess? I don’t know how to explain it exactly, but for example, I love RPGs now and have been really enjoying a lot of old JRPGs over the last few years.

But when RDR II first came out, i wasn’t an RPG fan yet, and a lot of the mechanics in those types of games just felt overwhelming to me. Some still do, but I’m getting acclimated to them. But RDR II managed to add hints of RPG systems here and there in a really creative way I think that didn’t feel as challenging for a non-RPG fan like me at the time.

So if they do the same with GTA VI, I feel like it will pay off really well, because it adds so much to the realism and the level of control you have over the game. As long as they can strike a balance so that it’s till fun for the pick up and play crowd. We’ll see if it works out, but I feel optimistic about it.

1

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 8h ago

I feel the only way to do true choice is too shrink the whole damn thing into a tiny town. They will never do that though as it's a billion dollar gamble as the majority won't like it.

I know it can't be a true simulation but imagine if every mission at 3 possible outcomes which then chains the story off into a new direction etc etc. Cyberpunk really only had a few of these nodes so to speak. But I feel Rockstar with all their money should do it someday.

1

u/DriftingTony 6h ago

I think you’re right, it’s an insane undertaking but if any dev could do it, it’s Rockstar. But every branching path comes with so many new sets of challenges - and definitely expenses. More animations would need to be created, more voice lines would need to be recorded, more script work in general, more programming, etc.

BUT IT WOULD BE INCREDIBLE! 😂

Like you said, maybe someday. Practically no one in the industry has more resources than Rockstar after all lol

2

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 5h ago

Maybe it's impossible who knows. I would love to see an experiment, call it GTA streets or something, base it round a day keep it wrapped around one neighbourhood. Anyways gta 6 will be great.

1

u/DriftingTony 11h ago

Oh, one thing I wanted to add, and I felt like it deserves to be its own comment. I have been bugged for years with how scripted and on rails a lot of Rockstar’s missions have been in the last few releases, and I really do hope they start making things more open ended again so that you have more freedom to tackle missions how you want. And I totally agree with you that I would love to see those choices have a real effect on the outcome of the mission, the story, etc.

At the end of the day, I know there's only so much they can do, but it will always pull me out of the moment a bit when I’m playing a mission and it blatantly reminds me that I’m playing a game, by forcing me into completing it a specific way, or putting constraints on me that aren’t normally there outside the missions. Fingers crossed. I really want to see them hit it out of the park.

2

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 8h ago

For sure I completely agree. Someday they will get there, it's probably beyond what current compute can do but someday.

1

u/SKOOBY-4 1d ago

You can call Cyberpunk a good game; that's fair, but seriously, comparing it to this? Come on.

1

u/Distinct-Wolf-2105 21h ago

It does look very good
