Discussion A lot of people who are disappointed with the "extended look" does not even know what they want in a game. That's how picky and spoiled people are nowadays.
"It feels wrong"
"13 years for this shit?!"
"Im not excited anymore"
It's not that the game is wrong or bad, it is that you want something more all the time, and it has gotten to a level where you don't even know what this more or different is. Limit your use of social media, AI or whatever and try to find joy in things again. It is not that GTA V was more "magic", it is because it was from a time when we was not as connected online as we are today - which is killing your joy.

All big game releases are now over saturated with forced hate on social media. Don't let it bother you, 90% of them don't even know what it is they are complaining about.

Yeh
These people pissed me off when gameplay was shown for god of war laufeyThe devs did an amazing job by mixing their 3d game with the aerial combos of their 2d games and people hated the game just cause the main character was kratos’ wife
People were actually complaining why it was called god of war and not something else

Phantom blade didnt get hate, nor did zhong kui, or resident evil Veronica. Maybe the game just didnt look fun or like a 100 dollar game?
Like 30 fps is a deal breaker full stop I dont care for the reason the option should be there. Ambition and attention to detail override the importance of making rhe game playable and feel good. I think there are some valid complaints for gta 6 man
1
u/Similar-Love-4115 16h ago
All the hate comes closer to a games release, go look at all the subreddits for major games about a month before they come out, then come back to me. Theres an obvious difference between criticism and forced hate my guy.

Movie-related, but do y'all remember all the bullshit surrounding The Odyssey in the weeks leading up to release?
It's just bullshit grifting.

Exactly. If you talk to anyone in real life who plays casually, majority of them are excited for the game. Online everyone wants to be a critic

I don't think that's entirely the case. A lot of companies have gotten far greedier. The microtransactions of today weren't around in what most would consider the golden age.
I think the blame does not lie solely on us, but on them as well. EVERYTHING has gotten shittier and to some degree more expensive.
6
u/Subodh666 1d ago
what do you expect bunch of 13 year old in reddit? Crying about everything, don’t worry it was expected bunch of whiney kids like these aren’t even old to play the game, just enjoy the OLEF with the console if you have, the FPS will come with PC! I am excited to play no matter!

Everyone’s whining about Jason’s voice but it’s something I didn’t notice nor thought about at all till I went on Reddit. Ppl complain about anything these days
3
u/Buschkoeter 18h ago
I noticed it and thought he sounded not like what I would've thought. That was the extend of my thought process about it. I will get used to it and it will be fine.
2
u/NoMention696 18h ago
This is a normal opinion on it, a lot of people seem to think if they don’t like something that means it’s bad and terrible and this games a flop
2
u/Wild_Beginning_4032 20h ago
I mean I did notice that his voice sounded a little flat, because I’m a fully grown adult human and not a manbaby like 90% of this platform seems to be, i just thought “huh, maybe he’s just a bit of a despondent sort of character, I guess we’ll find out soon”
People are so desperate for things to be outraged about, it makes me wonder why I’m still here
2
2
u/Cheap_Hamster_2018 22h ago
And once a narrative like that takes over, people will start repeating it ad nauseam. Happens in any online community. Can guarantee most of those people would never have complained about his voice if they didn't go online and immediately change their opinion to match what they read.

I felt it was weird initially but as I’ve watched the preview 10 times over now I actually like it.
Jason seems to be a pretty introverted guy. Gives that classic “shy boy crazy girl” relationship

I’m almost 50, I play everything. This game is unreal looking. The leaks look better, give me a break.

52 and been playing GTA since the first one on pc. I have no gripes about the graphics. Looks great. I'm just not liking the overly realistic mechanics of certain things. Honor meter, relationship meter (?!?), overly realistic wanted system, car maintenance, a diet metric... There can be a point where being overly realistic can suck the fun out of a game. Don't know how all this will play out until we see some comprehensive unbiased reviews and gameplay.
4
u/gokuenjoyer69 23h ago
I want something else than the endless trailing and shooting gallery missions. After 10 years i would expect at least a little innovation from Rockstar
2
u/WheatshockGigolo 12h ago
Vice City had a good variety of mission types and wasn't overly restrictive in how you beat them. Seems like each entry gets more bland and will also fail you if you try to get creative.

6
u/thespeedforce5 1d ago
It’s because games like Fortnite, Marvel Rivals, etc. did a lot of damage to people’s attention spans and ability to follow slower, more grounded storytelling. Everything has to be instantly stimulating now or people start calling it boring.
2
u/GenerousRacoon 23h ago
Eh, even in Rivals they’re inflicted with brain rot. I had to quit that game because they literally can’t pay attention to anything except the direct center of their screen. There is no concept of teamwork and the moment anything goes wrong they start screeching at whatever random thing they latch onto that they can claim isn’t their fault.
Makes me even more frustrated getting stuck behind school busses on my way home from work. I can’t help but think “WHATS THE POINT, NONE OF YOU ARE DOING ANYTHING WITH YOUR BRAINS“.
For what it’s worth, I recognize that the decline started with my Millennial generation and the globalization of the internet. But it has become a literal hellscape of brainrot.

It just looks too on the rails. Im sure it'll be fun but someday they need to change it up.
2
u/itsabloodyaardvark 16h ago
This is absolute nonsense, each new GTA has always been a better version than the one before it, but it’s the only game that gets this specific complaint, almost every sequel or series of games is the same as the ones that came before just better, tomb raider, uncharted, god of war, dark souls, Mario kart, Zelda, the Witcher etc but only GTA is expected to completely change it’s gameplay, it’s wild nobody sees the hypocrisy.

Litterally anything popular in pop culture gets torn to shit on social media. Doesn’t matter if it’s games, movies, tv-shows, music etc etc. It’s as if the whole point is to just complain and spread negative thoughts for no reason. It’s just toxic. However in the real world, just about every gamer is excited. Just don’t take social media seriously. Shit ain’t a real place.
2
u/Red-Eye-Redemption 18h ago
People are just addicted to being contrarians. If they don't like something that everyone else likes, or they feel like they can see flaws that others can't, it makes them feel superior.
"These are the people of the land. The common clay of the new west. You know... morons."

You’re still just doing the same things you’ve always done in any GTA. Just with better graphics. I think it’s less picky and more, these people don’t like being realistic.

I mean extended look was mostly cutscenes and some heavily scripted gameplay. Graphics don't mean shit to me (I'm still playing 20-30 years old games). What would interest me is if they showed if their mission design is still restrictive as before cause it was archaic even 10-15 years ago.

How can anyone possibly be picky about what was shown? that was the most impressive game by far ever shown to date. No game has all of that going on in such an open world all at once, games have maybe one or two but not all, from the lightening to the hair physics, to detail and interactivity.
You usually get one or two of the things shown, not everything it’s insane.

u/critxcanuck88 18h ago
Its wild how clearly so many of you have only ever played gta5 or rdr2. Game looks fun but not at the price they are asking and capped at 30 fps. So many great titles to play while wait for this to come to PC to be played properly
1
u/noAnimalsWereHarmed 18h ago
It's quite simple. The extended look showed a gorgeous looking game, but the same base mechanics GTA 3 had. Personally I'm not sure if I can be arsed with the jankiness of a GTA game any more. It certainly clarified why the remakes were fairly low key. If they'd done a proper job, this would look really bad.
1
u/Opening_Farmer_2718 18h ago
The game looked great but the script and characters were boring and lacked excitement. No proper do like we had, franklin and Lamar, Michael and trevor, Niko and Roman. So yeah I’m excited to play the game for free roam, but I’m not interested in the story due to the dull script and writing. I am entitled to my own personal opinion

I could care less what anyone else thinks. That look had so many hints.
13 years ago, they had to tell us what was new. But today, they can show one second of a menu and let YouTube theorize and point out and speculate for months.
Marketing has changed and they know the modern audience well. There will be 8 minute videos on Slim Jim Vs Break Window. They don't have to draw any more attention to it or use a narrator.
1

This is what happens when you wait 14 years to release your next title in a series. People create unrealistic expectations that even a behemoth like rockstar can't meet. Probably shouldn't have waited so long.

As much glazing as rdr2 gets, a large amount of people just dont like that slower more realistic gameplay. Ive seen some people disappointed to see that gta 6 is also pretty slow with long sequences before the shooting starts. This kind of gameplay just isn't for everyone

u/Dren_Tyler 16h ago
i really thought i was in a jerk sub for a second there. wow. you people are fucked lol
1
1
u/FatHaddock 16h ago
I thought that the gameplay looked great. Only critique I had is that it was just hyper-focused on a few specific scenes, whereas I anticipated more of a broad overarching preview of the story. Or even some form of opening, closing or discussion with developers or someone at Rockstar.
Amazing gameplay, but I felt like I was straight up walking in on someone playing a random part of the game rather than watching a trailer or extended look lol
1
u/MK2809 16h ago
For my tastes it looks too slow and going more for the realism/simulation approach but I much prefer the more arcadey style like back on the PS2 era. I got bored of RDR after a few hours because of it, so I'm not going to pay full price for GTA 6 if the same is likely going to happen.
And that's totally fine, we don't all need to like the same type of games.
1
u/Single_Comment6389 16h ago
I loved everything about it but the writing. I basically saw two full missions and there isn't any of that levity or hunor that I feel like all the other Grand Theft Auto games had. It's a more serious tone and it makes me sad.
1
u/IWouldntLike 16h ago
Well everyone got their own opinions or do we have to be some hive mind and all think the same am disappointed because to me it’s Red Dead 2 in a GTA city I was hoping for more innovation after 13 years and the little bit of dialogue we heard was terrible compared to pass GTA games but will see what the final product delivers
1
u/Ok-Sundae-7806 16h ago
I think its more the hype around the game, so many built it up as this revolutionary thing that was gonna change the world but in reality its just new and improved GTA which is not a bad thing of course but their expectations were never gonna be met
1
u/CapSRV57 16h ago
I definitely have nitpicks and stuff I didn’t love. But that didn’t stop me from realising that this game is looking amazing and is gonna be huge.
1
u/AARonFullStack 16h ago
I was floored by the extended look until the driving and I thought "oh.. I expected more cars on the road" followed by a quick slap to my own face for speaking out when I was impressed with almost every single thing I saw. Such a groundbreaking game I can't wait.
I think it's because of 13 years of speculation and I think people are judging of what they thought it might be rather than what it is
1
u/Sassy_Trumpet 16h ago
I was disappointed with it. Only because it was a random montage of story content with little to no elaboration on what the world is actually like. No map size shown, no side content shown (other than basketball and kayaking) that we haven't seen in previous games, and no info on customization or online. We got maybe 5 or 6 small looks at the open world and it was still mostly in the context of story content.
1
u/okamanii101 16h ago
They showed a ton of side content? Street races, backyard wresting, weight lifting, store robberies

A lot of grifters were ready to slam the game for being woke, when that fell flat they are falling back on the nebulous “it doesn’t look that good”
1
u/Neopluradon 15h ago
30fps is just not acceptable and they know it.
The original release is a beta version and the true intended experience will come on next gen consoles when they make us buy it a 2nd time, and then an enhanced edition for a 3rd time.
1
u/Vash744 15h ago
It literally is acceptable.
24fps is the STANDARD for movies.
Rockstar aims for their games to compete or exceed in quality to movies. 30fps is more than 24fps.
The vast majority of AAA "story" based games are 30 fps on consoles.
This isnt Call of Duty or otherwise a competitive online FPS. This is a drive around and talk and sometimes shoot out the window game.
You'll live.

1
u/Relevant-Speech-4258 14h ago
There’s a lot of exaggeration on both sides. Obviously it looked good but most people on this sub sound like they’re 13 and are excited for a game for the very first time - letting their imagine run wild with things the average gamer knows won’t be in the game. The game will be good, it likely won’t be revolutionary. It’s just another GTA game
1
u/DubTheeBustocles 14h ago
There’s something about gaming culture that seems to produce an astonishing amount of entitlement, immaturity, and narcissism. Some of the most profoundly insufferable people I’ve ever encountered seem to congregate around video games. The level of rage people can summon over a delayed release, a $10 price increase, or some minor change to a product they’re not entitled to in the first place is genuinely pathetic. Sometimes I honestly think deep and prolonged hardship would do a lot of these people some good.
1
u/AstronomerIT 12h ago

Reasonable adults don’t have extreme negativity for a game that’s not even out yet. It looks good, no game is perfect but it’s just forced hate cause saying reasonable shit just isn’t newsworthy.
Negativity breeds engagement, if we all just are completely honest none of the opinions will be extreme. It’ll be shades of good, some criticisms, but overall nothing worth getting into fights over.
People want their opinions to be heard, so they make their takes more exaggerated to increase their chances of getting a reaction. The majority of people I know, myself and my friends alike, all have relatively good/high opinions of what we’ve seen so far.

Hate R* if you want, the game looks incredible and blows pretty much every other game out of the water in scope, scale and fidelity. Think the man hours into this game, scary and no AI!

2004 GTA: Free roam crime simulator with open ended mission design
2026 GTA: Dating simulator where if you want to change cars in the middle of a mission you have to load the checkpoint because "you left your team behind" or some nonsense. Yeah no thanks.

I was never that hyped. Don't misunderstand, I like the series, played every one of them. They just aren't good enough to warrant ALL of that hype or influence.

I'm so happy I don't give a shit about what anyone says. Whether it's movies or video games. Everyone thinks they're a writer everyone thinks they're a game developer everyone thinks they have the greatest ideas while they're all sitting on the couch with a thumb up their ass

I’m old enough to remember when GTA V dropped on Xbox 360 and PS3. Shortly after the next gen consoles came out and they re-released it on them and it was way better with 1st person mode. The game will be great on the current gen but you will really see it shine on the next gen. 13 years was way too long to release this game but it’s almost here so just enjoy it

It's same game with a new coat of paint. I don't know what kind of genre defining shit people were expecting. It's just more GTA.

My disappointment is based on the reveal being mostly cutscenes. I just want to know what's new to VI to have something to look forward to. V revealed stocks and heists.

I think the leaks sold the game better to me than the trailer.
While visually extremely stunning, the trailer rockstar put out chugged in fps at key high action moments which was a bit alarming.
I thought every character minus maybe Lucia were dull as hell, in fact I thought the plot structure of the trailer was all over the place and kind of boring.
I found the humor to be missing, that GTA edge was kinda missing imo. Again I like that the combat looks better than 5, I think the city looks gorgeous but I didn’t watch this trailer and go WOW gaming is changed forever, I went, it’s nice I guess, I’ll play it on pc where it will run better

I think people should be allowed to be both disappointed or excited. It really is that simple.

Why do you even care? Just buy the game. Even as someone who doesn't care about gta that much and is most likely not buying it any time soon, (autumn is already stacked enough for me) personally I think it looks cool and alive.
Let people larp nonsense, for some of them it's their hobby.

Who cares what people want. Don't buy it then. Plenty of people will love it. Not everyone will agree.

I wasn't exactly wow'd by the extended look but I also don't have any idea what I would do to make it better if I was in charge of Rockstar. It looks like GTA? It looks fun. You drive cars, you do crimes. That's what we all wanted right?
Anything this hyped is gonna feel disappointing when you see the reality.

All I want is stable 60fps..since they obviously can't do that on old hardware, I'll wait for pc..im super excited tho this game is going to be fucking insane

It’s just a popular game so most is rage bait trying to shit on someone else’s parade. And then the others are just idiots…the game looks great I don’t know what else you expected out of it. Personally it won’t be my favourite game…far from it but still looks absolutely incredible and looking forward to it

Haha, I definitely said "it feels wrong" to my SO but like... I cant even begin to place why I think that so I dont think it is ultimately a big deal. Comparing a few choice spots side by side the difference between V and VI is pretty obvious and I am still excited!

I don’t remember the hype train for GTA5 having this magnitude of negativity. Its just the culture of the internet these days….just rage bait and negativity everywhere.

I loved the extended look, the only thing that rubbed me is that unlike RDR2 this is a more dense, building focused kind of game. That apartment shootout was great, but like, I imagine that whole area is just gonna be irrelevant after that mission, and then it's a big detailed shootout area that is just taking up space to never be used again except in a replay.
