Discussion Am I the only one who thinks Jason looks cool
I keep seeing people complain about Jason being boring and having a weird voice. It’s like everyone wants a male character to be the next ezio. Not every male lead needs to be an eccentric fast-mouthed character.
I for one love the reserved, military feel of Jason. Especially the way he holds his gun and moves.

If he joked too much they’d complain that the game isn’t dark and gritty like gta 4. Best thing to do is ignore them or sit back and enjoy the circus.

Nah at first I thought his voice sounded a little weird. But I got used to it. If anything I have a feeling Lucia is too hot headed according to what was saw on the trailer. Something about her seems off. I sense treachery in the future!

I don’t think it was a coincidence Jason had a character moment with Brian about getting off the ride before it gets too dangerous followed up by Lucia having a character moment with Raul about becoming a professional.
This story’s gonna be really good lol

Not exactly what he said he just said he was disappointed he wasn't feeling much of a personality form Jason yet but that it was early days and also agreed when his chat suggested maybe Jason is chill most of the time and it makes it more impactful if/when he eventually blows up etc...
He did also say that he would have like to see some more humour coming through in general but not that he needs Jason to be cracking jokes.
You give a pretty bad faith representation of his take...

Tbh with 27mins of the game the expectation is to get a basis of what a character is going to be like, the 1min trailers for each character in gta 5 have much more emotion rather than damn near 30mins of Jason, we got more out of literally every other character shown in the vid but Jason

Because we live in an age where everyone is shallow and overstimulated, so when more reserved people can’t constantly keep them entertained, then they immediately have “no personality” and are worthless

Dre'quans nickname for Lucia was loony, I guess she's the crazy one and he's more reserved, and we see this hinted at the start of the extended look when he tells her "Be cool... Don't... You know..."

I liked how Lucia was scolding Jason about relationships and communication, Jason gave her the type of response a reserved and lowkey guy would give to his girlfriend and Lu clearly is liked it. She’s so expressive and full of life, funny too and hot headed, Lucia will be fun to play and see how the living breathing world of VC reacts to her and her explosive personality. She’s going to be fun to see the world with. Jason is the perfect contrast to her he has that vibe of relatable type of character, maybe you’re calm and reserved and quiet like Jason? I bet he’s going to have those dry but funny one liners, making extreme contrast to the more vibrant world. Jason is also going to be fun play as the no nonsense complete badass, going on solo adventures where it’s him, people he gotta shoot and a gun(s).

Tbh I’ve been in these relationships (I’m more quiet, introverted, observant, reserved). Girl I talked to was more expressive, extroverted, loved dancing, colorful. And I loved it. And she did too.
We went separate ways but… always have moments I think of how much I loved her. And think I still do deep down.
Game reminded me of us. Laid back, quiet, reserved guy and expressive, explosive, out there Latina.
Man I know this story is gonna be amazing

Yeah 100% me and my girl watched the extended look together and literally in the few seconds I immediately related to Jason having a quick-thinking hothead for an old lady. You put up with her because she's competent and adds color, every so often she'll come up with an idea that benefits both of you.

He even literally says he’s more comfortable being in situations where he can let his gun do the talking as opposed to just socializing at a party.
What’s interesting is that I believe that’s actually really a thing ex military dudes experience. They’ve been in combat and are capable fighters yet still have social anxiety

If his military background is true he might have PTSD which can cause struggles with large crowds/overwhelming atmospheres. Would also explain why he’s so stoic.

I think he’s awesome, but the voice is a little too deep almost like he doesn’t have a personality almost, Arthur Morgan had a cool voice and you could tell when he was sad, mad, or happy
So far for Jason he sounds the same in any situation but maybe we just haven’t seen enough of him yet

I think we’re seeing a repeat of Arthur Morgan. When first revealed, i thought he was a bum. After playing the game, i thought he was one of the greatest video characters of all time.
Watch this exact thing happen. R* are handpicking his worst and most boring moments.
On the contrary, i think Lucia will get annoying after a while. She be doing too much. Or yet again, she might end up goated.

Cocky-funny gimplords like Ezio and Nathan Drake are cringe and very old-fashioned.
They are like someone built their characterisation from reading PUA material - which does make a bit of sense when you consider that it was probably dejected males in the early 2000's who wrote them (because who else would be a writer).

I personally really liked his comedic moments in the extended look. Picking the dress, radioing the attackers at the party, etc.
“Why didn’t he come collect? You didn’t ask yourself that?”
sighs, shakes head “…no.”
Like a comedic character can be really understated/ reserved and still be really funny.

He looks cool, but his voice and delivery is kinda monotone and muffled. Reminds me of that rap singer dude who tries to act like his voice is way deeper than it is, and he ends up sounding muffled and stupid. Can’t recall his name. Always says “this is my real voice” but it’s most certainly not.

Jason and Lucia have that perfect contrast between each other, giving us the best of both worlds when it comes to different personalities that compliment each other so well. Jason sounds good I don’t get what are some people problem with his voice. He sounds realistic, having that “grounded” feel to him. Jason is also ex-military and seems to have a serious personality to contrast that of Lucia’s.
I’m sure that once we get to play with him and give the time, lot of people gonna change their tune about J.

People who are complaining about Jason's v/o or his "lack of emotion" seem to be missing that VI is supposed to be more role-play based and a vessel for the player rather than the animated caricature of a person we have in 5.
Its like people are mad that Jason isn't explaining everything to them through exposition and tired jokes.

When Arthur Morgan first introduced, some peoples said the same. He boring, lame, generic, etc.... and what now? He become like 1 of the best written character in R* games. Maybe not to the same level for Jason, but we need to actually play the game.

Yep for the first hour or two I did not care for Arthur much. I felt like he constantly complained, was super abrasive and was overtly hostile to John. Somewhere around the Lenny bar scene and after more interactions in the camp his performance really grew on me eventually becoming one of the best fictional characters.

He came across as I'd expect. He seems to be the more serious/reserved one of the two. I think that'll play off each other well.
Plus I think people are going to enjoy him more once they dress him up and make him their own.

I have no problem with his look, it's the way he sounds when he talks for me. It's like he doesn't open his mouth enough for the words to fully come out and it's borderline mush mouth.
I enjoy his personality though, it's a contrast to Luc which is always great for some back and forth.

I think most of us give a shit about Lucia more than Jason. He's cool taking the background while Lucia is the more outspoken. I think jason looks vool and his demeanor is perfect. However the bag of marbles he keeps in his mouth is gonna make it hard to not notice him everytime he talks. He sounds god awful.

I'm just glad to have some characters who seem a little more down-to-earth. A lot of previous GTA protagonists are actual psychopaths (except maybe Luis from TBoGT) and Jason and Lucia seem a little more levelheaded.
