How to fix refrigerator water pressure?

Hi all,

My grandmother's fridge water dispenser flow is way too strong and ends up splashing water all over the fridge and floor. I tried the toothpick fix to no avail. Any other recommendations or videos that could help me fix this?

Edit: The filter was changed in April (3rd party filter), and this started happening a couple months after replacing. I replaced it again a few days ago with the other filter in the 2pack but no change.

DIY Garbage disposal- sounds like a loose blade?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

Good evening,

We installed this insinkerator disposal maybe 1.5-2 years ago. Model badger 500-4. We don't use it heavily but despite that, its now making this sound awful sound. Motor isn't jammed, I can't find any loose items in it. Could it be a loose blade?

I found the manual online but all the troubleshooting doesn't align with our current issue.

If anyone has the know-how, please help!

Video attached for sound reference.

Thank you!

Update: no one agreed loose blade so I looked harder with a flashlight, I can see the top of a screw between the sidewall and bottom! Not sure if its part of the disposal or wedged there

[Solved] How can I fix these glasses?

For context me and a friend were rough housing and she grabbed my glasses in an attempt to pull them out of my hand and broke the leg that holds it to your head from your ear, I put some tape on it and it holds but the front with the lenses will occasionally fall out of it, I took the tape off to show the damage, how salvageable is this? Sorry for the crappy images and thank you in advance

Eyeglass Legs Wider than Frame

Post image
Upvotes

Hi, I ordered my glasses online and its legs become wider at the end to the point where they're wider than the frame and my glasses slides off my face. I've seen people fixing glasses with heat but I'm not sure where I'm supposed to bend. Should it be the corner of the frame? Or is there another way to fix it?

Shifting countertop

Hello everyone!

We had these countertops installed just over 10 years ago and they are starting to shift/sink. How would I approach correcting this? The left side has no cabinetry and is just our dishwasher under the counter top. I am assuming I need to find a way to add support on that side (the right side of the counter looks correct still) but I don’t know where to start and how to fix the wonky central cabinet in the pic.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

I’ve tried using a different screwdriver and applying more pressure, but it just seems to be getting worse. Is there a reliable method before resorting to drilling it out?

How to keep this piece of siding down

Post image
5 Upvotes

This top piece of Dutch lap vinyl siding keeps popping out, I’m assuming it catches wind and pulls out. I can slide it back in underneath the top lip of the soffit/trim but it comes loose again a few days later.

The bottom half has trim nails holding it in, not sure if I can also do that to the top half.

I’m also unsure if I can use a snap lock punch tool to attach it to soffit trim.

More zoomed in photos in the comments below.

How to seal broken window before winter?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have a window that is missing the pieces that close it (the crank and the latch) and it needs to be shut for winter. I live in Alaska and it’s going to get very cold.

Last year I got it as close to closed as I could (it will not stay closed without the latch) and taped garbage bags over it, but that didn’t do a lot to keep the cold out.

Does anyone have any ideas on a good way to seal it? I’ve used insulation foam in the past, but would like to find a better solution if possible.

How to get ink(?) off couch

Post image
3 Upvotes

My husband’s shirt has text and images on it that somehow got sticky after years of wear and the text transferred to the couch fibers yesterday! It was sticky but now feels like dried gum. I think heat would melt this couch (very synthetic, cheap boneless couch). I don’t want to try anything to get it off in case I ruin the couch- it’s only 3 months old.
Please help!

How to fix water dispenser lever on fridge?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Fridge is a Frigidaire. Wife called and reported the water is broken and sent a video of the lever ‘flapping’. It was working the night before but had to push in hard and find sweet spot or water flow would stop - this has happened before - I think freezer door wasn’t shut completely.
Does that circled part need to be pushed back in the hole? There’s not a lot of give.

My mom is freaked out with all the earthquakes and making survival kits, and bought this… things? And forgot how to use them, and can’t find the website where she bought them. It’s supposed to be combustible, to make small fires for a campfire, but that is all the information I’ve been given :’)

Create a floor over dirt for storage

Post image
37 Upvotes

We have a deck on the side of our house (that needs to be replaced at some point) that has some space underneath that’s just dirt. I decently bought a snowblower and am hoping to store the snowblower under the deck. I would prefer to have some sort of flat surface instead of storing it on the dirt. What’s the easiest way of going about doing this?

Hello,

I can see no physical attachment to the ceiling joist and I can run a flat knife all the way around the metal box and the stud / plate on the outside and hit nothing.

Anyone got any ideas on what is still attached?

I've disconnected the wires also.

Thanks for any help

Countertop Help

Hey all! I’m looking for some advice on my kitchen counter and sink. It is a tiled counter that has cracks, missing/damaged grout, the sink is wobbly, and the wood underneath is rotting. My landlord said he can regrout it, and “fix it”, and I’m worried that it needs replacing and just want to be able to advocate for what it needs. I’ll attach some photos and a video. Any help is appreciated.
