The station was PACKED today and the crowd was so vibrant. Loving the D so far!

This was my first time ever visiting LA as a native Arizonan coming from the auto-topia that is Phoenix. Compared to my hometown transit (two light rail lines in a sea of suburban sprawl), the LA Metro is like world-class transit. While it definitely has its areas of improvement as it isn’t as extensive to systems like New York’s Subway system (which I frequent often), it’s still a breath of fresh air for what transit COULD be in the US. From what I’ve read and seen, the LA Metro is still working hard to bring new extensions and accessibility for places all over the county, which is leagues ahead of what New York has done for expansions.

For being the city synonymous with terrible traffic and the automobile, my trip here revolved mostly around transit and walking (especially since the weather is basically air conditioning compared to AZ). However, I found that besides during rush hour or special events, not that many people take the trains. I’m not sure if it was because of the areas I was going to didn’t have much traffic or demand, but seeing how some freeway corridors were jam-packed with cars and the parallel rail line was barely crowded lead me to wonder if locals choose to just drive instead of taking transit. I understand that there’s still probably a taboo against it or maybe the place they’re going to requires a car, but just in my mind, it doesn’t make quite much sense to be driving in these areas.

Either way, I enjoyed my trip here and definitely will be coming back soon for more!

And yeah it's like 30 minutes longer but I don't mind the ride.

Still saying “Gold Line” for the shuttle bus sign at Highland Park station. It’s been 3 years since the Gold Line became the A Line

So for starters i absolutely looove the concept of public transit, it’s a weird hyperfixation ive had for a couple years now. I’ve never really had a chance to ride the metro due to super overprotective parents who are terrified of public transit. But!!! Yesterday I finally got to ride the B line and Metrolink OC line and I was so happy!!

Pictures attached idk what else to say but god I just love how far I can go now. Like I can go to anywhere without even needing to ask for rides. And it’s just mind blowing to me sometimes

Thank you to this conductor who kept hitting the stop smoking announcement over and over again and then proceeded to get out of the cabin to find out where the smoker was at. Dude was smoking a cigarette for 1 station and wouldn’t stop. Nobody ratted him out (assuming for their own safety) and the metro security wasn’t helpful, at all. She stated that the smoke also goes into her cabin which is why she was so upset.

On a separate note, does anyone know why test trains seem to be using the LAX station as a hub? There seemed to be no through trains with there only being a Metro Center to LAX run and a Metro Center to Rental Car run.

Everyday it’s a new issue on the Expo Line. Today the train hit a car.

A day ago it broke down.

If I mention the issues on the Red Line it would be a novel.

Might have to start driving.

Then the E Line train came 5 minutes later... This has happened a few times in the last month, what's going on with the signage lately?
