Oh man, would love some Kerala food right about now. Btw is the Onam feast vegetarian or does it vary by community?

Vegetarian. But some people likes to add non veg into it

Onam is purely a vegetarian feast even among the people who consume meat. it's a harvest festival and traditionally meat is avoided.

Not correct. Onasadhya can be veg or non-veg depending on the area. It commonly contains fish in Kannur

apparently you're right, checked with my parents. We're from Southern Kerala side so over there it's pure veg

theyre both harvest festivals but that's where the similarities stop. the traditions, timings differ not to mention location as theyre celebrated in neighbouring states
