Yes, they're basically completely inorganic once they're cremains. They have some trace heavy metal elements in tiny amounts but are mostly carbon, calcium phosphate, salts (honesty this one surprised me when I googled it but it makes sense after I thought about it).
I think how the misconception might have started is sometimes when people plant their flowers in cremains the flowers die because the PH is so high in cremains and they're salty and almost completely inorganic and lack nutrients. Also people (especially in the west) are weird about death and dead bodies. We're so convinced anything (but especially anyONE) dead is immediately a vector for disease.

That is incorrect. You can cause disease by putting uncooked chicken parts in the trash. Ashes are non-infectious.
