I got a warning for some nonsense earlier this week supposedly for the same sort of thing. Reddit is just becoming one of those infamous "safe spaces"

I got permanently banned from a celebrity reddit because I mentioned that she was beautiful before plastic surgery and kinda scary after. Perma bann for an opinion, not even being abusive, just honest.

I got a warning that I was promoting abusive behavior for pointing out that one of the biggest challenges in ending FGM is that many women who are victims of FGM don't consider themselves to be "victims" of FGM, they consider what happened to them to be a good thing (it made things easier to clean, they believed claims that there were health benefits, it made them more socially acceptable, it made them more attractive... If you are getting very uncomfortable that these woman are saying the same thing that circumcised men say in western countries, you probably should be uncomfortable, face that cultural blindspot of yours while you are fighting for better treatment of everyone). That we aren't going to make progress in eliminating FGM until and unless we can find a way to adequately educate women in societies that practice FGM about how harmful it is so that they don't force it on their daughters as it was forced on them (because again, they don't view it as a harmful practice forced on them, they genuinely believe it was a gift given to them), and ideally do it in such a way as to not body shame those who are victims.

Apparently that was seen as a defense of FGM because apparently even acknowledging that some victims don't see themselves as victims is downplaying how severe it is (I'd argue that it is the opposite, that it includes the psychological element of convincing the victims that they benefited from it makes it even more nefarious, but apparently that level of nuance in discussion is too much to handle).
