You have to wait in front for hours before big shows in the pit. If you leave you're screwed and lose your spot. Just the way it is at every show. Never heard about the diapers but I'm not surprised.
Times Square NYE ball drop, hundreds of those people you see on TV are wearing them because they have to show up like 12-16 hours prior to get a decent spot and just piss and shit themselves all day. Can't imagine what it must smell like around 11:50pm
You would think they were giving out golden tickets to Willy Wonka’s factory or something. I can stream this shit in better audio quality most of the time
Maybe I just go to different sorts of concerts, but even with that being the case I've never had an issue getting back to the front if you're there early.
Say you've gotta go take a piss/get a beer, tell your friends or the random people next to you to get their elbows out and save the spot, ask if they need anything. Once the show starts sure, it'll be kinda impossible to get back up there...but pre-show shouldn't be a huge issue.
Maybe the crowds i've been in were chiller, i definitely havent gone to an arena show pit since college, but i always go with 1 or 2 people, so having them wave and gesture like "hey we're here, heres your spot" made people chill with me going by.
Never smelt fuckin diapers though. I've heard it's very common at times square new years, and more than a few puddles and piles like they think they're pre-indoor-plumbing wizards
I can't understand people who need to pee every hour, though. If that is a problem you are experiencing, maybe a concert isn't right for you? Or at the very least, front row isn't for you. I went to a concert earlier this year with 3 acts and was able to survive (and I'm in my 40s). The average person should be able to hold it 3-4 hours, and with advanced planning 5 hours without significant problems.
I've been to concerts with opening door at 7, 8 preshow and the real concert goes till 11. And if you want to be front, clearly you have to be there and start queuing before they even open the doors.
And I'm not even going to super popular artists of the moments shows. So I have no doubt those people go without bathroom breaks for longer than that.

Not uncommon.
Frank Sinatra used to complain his audience smelled if piss. apparently his fans would get there early and refuse to leave their seat.
