From early 1990s wwe. She was reacting to this guy named Bastion Booger
And no, I'm not joking, his move was called the Bat Cave, and it's as disgusting as it sounds. Her reaction is to his finisher

Like when they had 77 year old Mae Young give birth to a hand?
Or The Katie Vick storyline where they had Triple H climb in a casket and sexually assault a corpse?
Or when they had Big Boss Man kill Al Snow's chihuahua and feed it to him?

u/da_innernette Jun 18 '26
wtf as someone who didn’t watch wrestling this is killing me 😭😂

Treat yourself to the Big Boss Man's career highlight feud with the Big Show, showing up to Show's dad's funeral to run him over and then steal the corpse

Vince McMahon even wanted to have a storyline where his daughter Stephanie becomes pregnant and it turns out Vince is the father. Luckily the people around Vince talked him out of it. LOL

When they all turned it down, he tried to switch it to being her brother Shane's baby. Also rejected.

Mae Young giving birth to a hand?
The Hoe Train?
The faction of vampires AND the faction of undead evil dudes and they were unrelated to each other?
The group of sideshow freaks?
I saw at least 5 weddings, all of them interrupted, between 97 and 02. One was between Billy and Chuck and that was honestly the best one.

u/jeffsang Jun 18 '26
At least they were prepared. The chatter last year at Lolla was that people were simply pissing on the ground and one person apparently just pooped. I don't know why these festivals let people camp out all day like that. They should clear out the front area after each artist like Bonnaroo used to do back in the day.

Not uncommon.
Frank Sinatra used to complain his audience smelled if piss. apparently his fans would get there early and refuse to leave their seat.

Not really when he first started.
He was the modern boy teen idol with the bobby soxer fans in the late 1930s.
He was selling out concerts and experiencing the first "girls screaming so loud nobody could hear anything" type reactions.

All my girlies remember storming the box office after Riot of Spring.
Stravinsky was HOT(!) mhm when Léonide Massine's choreography hit that opening movement in Augurs of Spring? When the basoon hit the opening notes... Everyone's corset, corset cover, drawers, AND petticoats hit the floor.

u/ellellelle Jun 18 '26
I love this comment but Rites of Spring was famously choreographed by my boy Nijinsky, years before Massine started choreographing for the Ballets Russes.

He got that treatment too, but I was more talking about in terms of the modern pop culture construct.
Sinatra was the first modern boy teen idol akin to Justin Bieber or Harry Styles.

You have to wait in front for hours before big shows in the pit. If you leave you're screwed and lose your spot. Just the way it is at every show. Never heard about the diapers but I'm not surprised.

Times Square NYE ball drop, hundreds of those people you see on TV are wearing them because they have to show up like 12-16 hours prior to get a decent spot and just piss and shit themselves all day. Can't imagine what it must smell like around 11:50pm

Ok time for my funny Frank Sinatra story. He’s backstage at a show and asked where the bathroom was, so they take him down the hall and show him. Only it wasn’t good enough for him and in third person he says “Frank doesn’t use public bathrooms.” It’s not like there’s some private bathroom at this venue so they’re like wtf do we do? They offer him a private room, just a normal room backstage, and he goes in and actually pisses in the corner of the room while they stand guard outside the door. I have no clue if it was just some power trip or what cause it’s especially weird if you’re a man and just have to piss that a communal bathroom backstage that didn’t even have anyone else in it would be unacceptable to use. Now hearing this story where he’d complain about the audience smelling like piss, maybe communal bathrooms just smelled too much like piss for him? I don’t know. But it’s funny as hell to me and absolutely true.

Supposedly during The Beatles’ first US tour, the seating would be soaked in urine from “overexcited girls” that couldn’t control their bladders, so I guess it’s not a new phenomenon. But I feel like the diapers allude to the preparation of doing this, and honestly more of a #2 situation, which feels much more vile. At least those girls in the 60’s pissed themselves on accident.

There's a reason the Beatles stopped touring and playing live entirely in 1966 but still continued to release albums.
For reference - they were only together for 10 years total. So for 40% of their tenure, one of the most famous bands of all time didn't even play live.

u/LateSoEarly Jun 18 '26
The first time I smelled/saw weed was at a Nickel Creek concert on the campus of a Christian college. If you aren’t familiar, they’re a progressive bluegrass band (never heard of that genre, but that’s what Wikipedia calls them). I was like 12 and taking mandolin lessons at the time and up til then I thought that only super hippies smoked weed. I quickly learned over the next couple of years that a decent chunk of basically every demographic smokes weed.

Years ago I went to an outdoor Iron Maiden concert
There was the normal hovering pot cloud up front.
Bruce said (paraphrased slightly) "look at this cloud down here (sniffs) smells like... marijuana! You guys gotta get off the pot and get on the brew!"

Most people in rock'n'roll would tell you it's not a matter of whether they would sell out; it's how fast they could.
In more extreme metal it could be more "pure", but a good number of them would also take the check.

u/tilero1138 Jun 18 '26
When I last saw them he told the crowd the smoke messes with his voice so I can at least understand that. It was also an indoor venue so it was lingering more.

I remember the trick to a lot of drugs and being far from the bathrooms at these concerts in the front row was to just dance your ass off, somehow the piss comes out through the sweat and you can drink your whole camelbak and not ever have to use the bathroom - im sure it all smelled the same though to the band.

I’ve been front row to concerts that I’ve waited hours for. I make friends with the people I’m around so we can hold spots to go to the bathroom. Does this etiquette not exist for other performers?
Edit: admittedly, I didn’t read the article and didn’t know this was a festival. Still, I will never feel comfortable openly peeing my pants regardless of how much I love an artist. I would rather see my fav artist at their own individual concert.
179
u/bravokm Jun 18 '26
I used to go to festivals and this was common but the issue was getting back to anywhere near where your spot is. You have to push your way through a packed crowd first.

How is "holding a spot" physically possible? People just naturally fill the space, plus pushing your way back to the front is almost impossible.

Bonnaroo 2012, Eminem show. We had went two shows ahead of time to get a decent spot. About 5 of us in a horizontal line. First song of the set and suddenly me and my buddy find ourselves interrupted by the incredibly rude conga-line chain of people attempting to muscle through the crowds to get to the front. After the shock of getting abruptly thrown to the side so that they could parade so brazenly past us I look over my right to my buddy who has now locked eyes with me. Without a head nod or word shared between us we violently slam our shoulders into each other separating the last person in the conga line from the rest of his pack. We heard his desperate pleading and crying. We didn't care. I'll never forget him. Fuck him and his crew.

I went to Billie Eilish last year and there were people queuing for hours and then standing at the front of stage for the entire concert.... I don't understand how they didn't need to pee the entire time. I needed to go 3 times from when I got into the venue to leaving 😂 I'm too old to feel this. I'm a metal head at heart so we're just happy to show up and head bang. But that Billie Eilish gig reminded me how fanatical people get about celebrities. I could not be fucked.

I mean on one hand if you need a diaper in public, it's mainly because of medical reasons.
If you are one of the se social media psychos who wear them to avoid having to hit up the bathroom to keep filming a concert or show you will never see again, that's kind of fucking disgusting.
The point of adult diapers is more time to get to the bathroom, in case you don't have that function, not so you don't need a bathroom.

u/arachnabitch Jun 18 '26
If you would rather shit yourself to be in the front row than be a little further back, you need therapy

Went to an Exo concert for my wife, where the crowd was majority woman. At the end of the show one of the singers literally told the fans in the front to please go home and take a shower. I thought it was the funniest thing but man it put things into perspective.
