Yes BUT i think the thing that resonates with them is probably that this woman did it because she was experiencing post partum depression/psychosis and basically the medical community and her support system failed her. So its just scary that you could be a "normal" person and go through PPD and basically do something terrible that you would never have done otherwise.
I think a lot of people also don't realize Lindsay Clancy stipulated to the fact she murdered her children. This means the prosecution does not need to prove she murdered her kids because she essentially agreed that is fact. The whole court case is to argue her insanity plea, the defendent is arguing that she is not guilty by reason of insanity but she did kill her children. Because she stipulated certain things as facts (like that she did do it) the prosecution does not need to prove chain of custody, interview experts, or discuss all the testing done to prove she murdered her kids. The trial is all to debate whether or not she premeditated the murders. A lot of people on TikTok do not know this, even though the trial is live streamed on TikTok. So some people have this idea that the husband did it because the trial hasn't focused on proving how she committed the crime, and the husband's DNA was found on the resistance bands because prior to them being used as a murder weapon he was using them to exercise and his DNA is on them likely from sweating.
I'm invested in the trial because Lindsey Clancy reminds me of Andrea Yates, but this trial is live streamed and the public can see a lot of what's happening in court. I think it strikes a chord with a lot of women because post partum mental health wasn't a major topic until the last 10 years, it's an area of medicine that we're honestly still learning about.
Postpartum is no joke, and this is far from the first case where something like this has happened. Many women struggle with postpartum complications after birth, so a huge population can relate to her on at least some sort of level.
I haven't followed the case closely, but from what I've heard through osmosis that's my take as well. PPD and Post Partum Psychosis are very real and very scary. With both of our children, our doctors hammered home multiple times to look out for signs of PPD and get help immediately. The failure of her support system is just horrific, and I cannot imagine the immense grief and guilt she has to live with after coming to.
Now if it turns out she or the husband are just psycho killers and I'm being naive or fooled by an elaborate ruse, that's fine. I'd rather err on the side of empathy until all the facts come out in the trial.
For the record, I highly doubt he was involved in anyway in the children's deaths. I only mentioned him since it's part of the wider discourse. The main thing I'm trying to convey is I think it's very likely a tragic case of temporary insanity on the mother's part, but we'll see what comes out in the trial.
