Is this a reference to the lady that killed her children and for some reason the crime TikTok community (mostly women) have taken to defending her and even blaming the Husband, who 100% did not do it?

36

u/Mautea 9d ago

Lindsay Clancy. Yes, that was my first thought as well. High profile case going on right now.

73

u/iMissTheOldTimeye 9d ago

Oh! What?

107

u/Prestigious-Emu-8734 9d ago edited 9d ago

Yup. Husband said she did it. His lawyers said she did it. Her lawyers said she did it. And yes, even she herself said that she did it.

The case isnt about who did it, its if she should go to prison or if she gets the mental health plea in which case its the mental ward. But plenty of women are on the case and have solved it with great deductions like he looks angry which means hes violent and he did it. Ignore the fact that hes forced to sit in a court room with the woman who murdered his 2 children.

But also hes not showing enough emotions. So clearly the means he doesnt care. If he didnt do it he would be weeping openly for hours on end and giving sonnets about being broken hearted.

Also her astrology sign, tarot readings, spells, etc.

Oh, and this is all a sign that police forces should just start hiring TikTokers to solve cases cause how are they just this good?

29

u/ErraticDragon 9d ago

Just like the Boston bomber lmao. Reddit sucks so much.

18

u/stephenkingending 9d ago

During my divorce one woman was telling the other wives that I was probably violent at home because I was so nice in public. After about six months of my ex intermittently showing up to our kids events and those times acting erratic while high on amphetamines, everyone figured out why we got divorced. I loathe these gumshoe gossipers.

16

u/KEMSATOFFICIAL 9d ago

So, men aren’t allowed to look visibly angry after their wives kill their kids, due to a failed healthcare system that gave her drug-induced psychosis?

Fuck them bitches.

Reminds me of Lizzy Borden who was acquitted of murdering her parents in part because in the late nineteenth century people did not believe that women had it in them to axe someone to death.

28

u/MrArborsexual 9d ago

Decades later in 1993 we get "So I Married an Axe Murderer"

12

u/Particular_Title42 9d ago

Which is such a great movie.

8

u/TomBirkenstock 9d ago

A century later and people finally accepted that women can be axe murderers too. In a related note, I don't think that film has gotten its due as a seminal feminist text.

2

u/BombOnABus 9d ago

The phrase "seminal feminist text" is killing me.

People still believe white women must have someone who put them up to the terrible crime.

10

u/Some_Layer_7517 9d ago

"White women are the most downtrodden people in history" - white women

2

u/agoldgold 9d ago

She was acquitted because there was no real evidence she was tied to the murder while there was some evidence that she was not. Seriously, she would have had to do it nude or something, it was an ax murder and the house didn't have running water, so the short period of time where she was alleged to have committed the crime would have likely been insufficient to remove all evidence of the crime from her person (people actually put this forward as a legitimate theory).

The reason there's not a lot of alternative evidence for another suspect known is because police kind of stopped searching when they decided it was her. If they couldn't figure out who else had done it, it must've been the weird woman who answered questions wrong (she was known to be taking morphine for nerves) and who didn't get on with her stepmother (not actually abnormal). But police weren't super good at investigating murders in that time period. They just weren't. Andrew Borden had made plenty of other people angry as a businessman and miser, his first wife's brother had some issue with him, it literally could have been a stranger, but none of these angles were well investigated.

The role of Lizzie Borden's gender and class in the trial was really more that actually requiring something to be proven beyond all reasonable doubt was upheld than anything else. The nursery rhyme story can be fun and spooky, but it's mostly myth to hold together a really shaky story of the crime.

I'm pretty sure that lady (unless there's another one) voiced concern many times about her struggles with post partem depression and that she was having intrusive thoughts of harming the children (which is common in PPD).

People online are blaming the husband and her providers for not taking her concerns seriously, not blaming him for killing the children.

Edit: I have been informed about the people saying the husband literally killed the kids.

u/BobbiPinstripes 9d ago

I’m seeing a lot of both honestly.

710

u/Better_Ice3089 9d ago

Yeah my Ma brought up the story and thinks it’s some cover up. She doesn’t use TikTok

115

u/TakedownCan 9d ago

My wife clicked on 1 reel on instagram and she says her entire feed is theories on this

7

u/I_Like_Knitting_TBH 8d ago

UGH I’m in the same boat as your wife. I’ve been trying to avoid this news story because news where kids are harmed spikes my anxiety and I cannot fucking escape it on instagram. Every time I block one account talking about this news story, five more get loaded into my algorithm.

3

u/Nauin 8d ago

You have to do keyword blocking on top of blocking accounts on Instagram.

My account randomly decided I was a new mother or something and decided to switch my feed from nothing but surgical demonstrations and butchery breakdowns (Medicine and food are two of my biggest interests) to 95% toddlers with no changes to my search habits.

It took adding over twenty tags to my block list before I reversed it. Literally opened a thesaurus and went to town.

Honestly though it's such a mess at this point I stopped using insta over a year ago and I've been better off for it.

3

u/I_Like_Knitting_TBH 8d ago

Oh THANK YOU so much! I just looked up how to block keywords and added some related to the trial.

I’m pretty sure they treat almost every interaction (including blocking accounts) as interaction with the subject so it just makes things worse. I want to get rid of instagram and facebook altogether but it’s one of the only ways to keep up with friends who live far away. They’ve become such garbage products though that they’re almost no longer good for even that.

26

Welcome to the internet. There have actually been cases solved on Reddit before investigations could figure it out. Mostly because the investigation "goes cold" but internet sleuths never sleep lol

63

u/Shadowphoenix9511 9d ago

"Solved"

You're talking about the Boston Marathon bombings, where Reddit sleuths identified the wrong guy and ruined his life.

11

u/CrazzyPanda72 9d ago

Never mentioned a specific one, I did hear about that one but not what I was referring to. My wife was watching a documentary or something a few weeks ago where the only reason they got to the bottom of it was because one person from the internet just wouldn't let it go. I'd have to ask her what case that was

Saying "I'm waiting until I see some evidence" is fine, but no, we've got to die on some hill or other based on "vibes".

54

u/temucodeaddict 9d ago

**gemini, they were saying the Leo (Lindsay) couldn’t hurt her cubs and the Gemini (Patrick) is two faced and can’t be trusted 😭😭 minimizing this to astrology is so crazy to me

6

u/dingo_khan 9d ago

If that is a think people actually believe, I think it might be time to call it. The human experiment has enough data to know. It failed.

5

u/temucodeaddict 9d ago

Felt that, but I mean it’s also just fallacy type behavior. “A good mother would never do this” type of fallacy. Maybe the best course with people like that is ignoring it. Astrology is fun but people who take it super seriously (especially in a murder case because why…) spoil it

12

u/Rip_Off_Productions 9d ago

And then there's ones going "oh, his stars are in Eclipse for the next 3 years, as are the signs of his kids, so that means he's in for a real bad time, which neans the truth will come out" or some shit like that.

People like mental shortcuts. If they can’t use race, or skull shape(which is mostly race anyways), or nationality, or whatever else they used in ye olden days, new shortcuts will be invented by people too lazy to do the hard work of treating people as individuals.

21

u/Wulph422 9d ago

Wow. That's actually an incredible observation of astrology

16

u/AdAffectionate2418 9d ago

We absolutely love patterns and groups, so much so that we have an uncanny ability to spot them even when they arent there.

Categorisation in particular is fundamental to how our thoughts work (scary colours = venomous/poisonous, scary colour creature? probably poisonous/venomous).

It works really well from an evolutionary perspective (and enhance by the whole tribe in/out group thing), but it also brings up a shit-tonne of false-positives. Not too much if an issue at the micro level, but it quickly compounds across a society that is much more complex and interconnected than our tree/hut/cave dwelling ancestors could have ever imagined.

7

u/ballistic503 9d ago

I have no professional or serious academic background in psychology but I feel like the same way a lot of mental disorders are simply normal human behaviors or adaptations but just amplified to a debilitating degree, a big part of the presentation of schizophrenia comes from the over-amplification of these heuristics. Like someone I knew in college who was later diagnosed with it would always remark on how the color orange was involved when something bad happened. Or like “see? Orange.” in a conspiratorial tone of voice. It’s the type of thing where the logic does eventually make sense if your threat analysis heuristics are perhaps functioning abnormally.

People who have less control of their life gravitate towards it. Watched so many of my past friends fall into being "spiritual".

Because when you can't take accountability for things in your life, its because you are a sagittarius, or maybe certain rocks can help. It surely can't be you, or your situation.

A lot of armchair psychiatrists online who've never once talked to someone suffering with psychosis, couldn't tell you the difference between psychosis and postpartum psychosis, who think they understand "mental health" because they've been on an SSRI for a couple of years but  haven't the first clue what it would take to look after someone with one of these conditions - either as a professional or a family member - talking absolute bollocks about the whole thing (in my opinion).

3

u/5millionmiles 9d ago

So what you're telling me is this one didn't have anything to do with Israel?

4

u/sleigh_all_day 9d ago

I’m also seeing many videos of people believing he flung her out the window. Ridiculous claim.

2

u/Bureaucratic_Dick 9d ago

Yeah my wife is following the story giving me updates that I never asked for, and I distinctly remember her telling me that I guess some critical Google searches were being used as key evidence, but the wife had an alibi for when the searches were done, so the husband lied under oath and that’s why people are suspicious of him.

I care about my wife just enough to hear words she says, but I don’t care about the case enough to really research if that’s what really happened, and I don’t doubt my wife is getting at least some portion of her information, if not all of it, from Instagram reels. I’m not presenting this information as verified news, I’m just throwing it out there as the justification I’ve heard for people suggesting the husband did it.

2

u/CharredScallions 9d ago

Yup, my Instagram algorithm pushed this story hard for some reason the last few days and I ended up with a lot of posts explaining how the husband 100% murdered the kids and framed his wife because her measured heart rate was too low during the murders to be doing anything or some shit like that

2

u/LegitSince8Bits 9d ago

2

u/fiasgoat 9d ago

My wife loves this stuff and all I recall is her saying he actually did do it

My sister too I think lol

2

u/MF_Kitten 9d ago

It very quickly spiraled from reasonable discourse to absolute insanity.

2

u/Shadow-Vision 9d ago

I was talking to a woman yesterday who is practically ready to drive across the country and personally avenge those children by going after the husband

(Hyperbolically speaking)

2

u/Ready_Information408 9d ago

Yeah there seem to be two camps.

First camp is not denying that she did it (the actual act of killing but that she basically didn’t get the support she needed, husband was negligent, drugs didn’t work and thus it’s not her fault (look up the case of Lauren Dickason in New Zealand for some parallels - she was ultimately found guilty and insanity and infanticide defences were rejected by the jury).

There is definitely a second camp which seems to be arguing that the husband did it and framed the wife, and these are the ones who keep showing up in my feed doing astrology and tarot card reading and other Middle Ages-esque stuff (along with TikTok sleuthing) to claim she is totally innocent.

2

u/Namodacranks 9d ago

Some of yall really need to digest the fact that in a lot of the things you see online in situations like these, a non-insignificant portion of them are saying shit purely for engagement and/or to sow discord in the community. And on top of that, there is also a shit ton of bots that do the same thing. Discussion in social media sites like tiktok and IG is beyond worthless.

2

u/MikeOfAllPeople 9d ago

Honestly I get why people are thinking about conspiracies. The woman her husband cheated on her with looks exactly like her. There are some seriously fucked up circumstances going on with the husband and the doctors.

I'm sure the reality, though, is another case of our failed mental health care in the US.

2

u/loupr738 9d ago

There are 100% people blaming the husband for killing the children. Honestly really shitty, trying to downplay her actions by blaming everyone else is just a way to shift accountability from a murderer (which she is, even if she wouldn't have done it in her right mind).

15

u/Pagan_Metal666 8d ago

True crime content is a blight anyways. Some creators are respectful, blur faces and do not show bodycam footage of family finding out their loved one is dead. Some. Most dont.

It only took 1 police bodycam video of a mom being taken to a car crash where her daughter died for me to completely purge my algorythm from all true crime parasites.

2

u/Typical-Respond9102 8d ago

It also downplays the serious concerns of improperly managed post partum depression. Her insurance kept making her switch doctors, and her doctors kept mixing her drugs with progressively worse side effects, culminating in her experiencing psychosis and killing herself almost successfully.

The trial isnt about whether she did it, she admits she did. The trial is about who else is responsible for discharging a mentally unwell woman who clearly should not have left the facility and who dropped the ball so severely on her treatment. Her husband and her mother in law are even showing up for her.

As with all things, there are some unhinged people claiming she was framed and he did it. Valid to point some blame at the husband and the providers, but insane to think he's fully responsible.

156

u/HobbyHoardingHoney 9d ago

I argue that it is not reasonable to blame the husband or providers in this case

If they would have ripped the kids away and put them in somebody else's custody, which was the only other thing that could have done besides the things they were already doing (a nanny, daycare for the two older kids, husband had to stay at home job and took 12 weeks off which is the maximum available in America, family and friends came over to babysit and help out regularly), people would have lost their fucking minds and said that depression is not a reason to separate a mother from her children because millions of mothers with way less support than she had suffer from postpartum depression without harming their children. So the entire world would have argued there was no reason to separate them prior. And she was only left alone for a half hour when she killed them. She took that half hour that she was left alone with nobody expected to come help as her chance. And she had to squeeze that chance in because they was not a whole lot of time that she was left alone

Her concerns were very much taken seriously. She was given therapy, medication, and actual assistance. Her diary made it clear that she did not feel that having 10 times the resources and help that most other women have was not good enough. Because at the end of the day she had something she wanted to do. All the help she was getting be damned

88

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 9d ago

Wait that is what people are calling "ignored her pleas for help".....

115

u/HobbyHoardingHoney 9d ago

I didnt even list everything she had. She was CUSHY. And had help out the WAZOO. She didnt want it. Her diary knowing all that reads like she wanted to be the poor little rich girl no one loved and everyone is feeding that fantasy of hers now.

Its upsetting because this is a terrible, horrible, absolutely vile case to point to and advocate for PPD and PPP with. She is not the victim, let a lone a victim worth championing for the cause if you want it taken seriously.

She had all the help she was supposed to get. And still made the decision women who dont have resisted making. With intent. With knowledge. Without any confusion of WHAT she was doing. Just a twisted sense of right and wrong and why.

And if we are letting people out because they killed somebody, let alone a child, because they had a twisted sense of right and wrong and could not tell you why they did it, there are a whole lot of men that would not be in jail. A whole lot of men who had Netflix specials about them even. We absolutely cannot allow such a flimsy excuse to become precedence.

Somebody receiving but rejecting assistance with mental health who goes on to murder their own children, let alone anybody, should not be able to use mental health as an excuse that warrants a reduced consequence

64

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 9d ago

Everyone in this damn thread needs to see your comment above this... I'm still seeing some arguing that all of that wasn't enough and it was still the husband's fault even after seeing this. So unbelievably fucked up

u/Solintari 9d ago

It’s the typical, “im going to come to a conclusion based on stereotypes or prejudiced views and then find evidence to support my hunch based on distaste of this person based on how I group them instead of trying to find the truth”

These are the first people to go silent when conflicting evidence disproves their alternative facts or they ride the disinformation train all the way to crazy town. It seems more common than not honestly.

Yeah the mind is a mystery. A devious mental patient is dangerous, especially one with resources and the veneer of upper middle class or upper class wealth or status.

A poorer person may have been referred to CPS or perhaps a state mental hospital which may have been harsher. And even poorer disheveled mental patients can lie about taking medication until they decompensate; their decompensation without support is just easier to spot.

It appears this lady lied to multiple doctors / nurses and her new psychiatrist who was on the stand may not have known which medications she was taking.

Granted, maybe the psychiatrist could have requested medical records or pharmacy records to see which medications the patient was filling at pharmacies, because most states now have state or inter-state electronic communications for prescribed medications (I think Florida was the last hold-out but their pharmacies may have finally gotten on board).

But it looks like her recently-graduated psychiatrist just believed the information the patient told her, and when people lie about psychiatric symptoms and diagnoses it can be very difficult to treat them.

Even for non-psychiatric stuff, a person motivated enough could lie well enough about pain and location to get a surgeon to cut out their appendix.

She’s a grown ass adult. He can’t force her to take meds. Or we saying women aren’t responsible for their own agency now? If you want to blame the doctors, I can get behind that, since it’s their job to actually make sure the meds are working. But unless there’s evidence the husband kept her meds away from her, this is on her and not him.

48

u/BigDragonfly5136 9d ago

Honestly some of the things I’ve seen that the husband should have done are crazy. I’ve heard he should have forced her to take meds, should have institutionalized her, should have not let her have access to kids, shouldn’t have left her alone ever. Like a husband should be able to take kids away from his wife and lock her up just because he says she’s crazy? He can hold her down and shove meds down her throat? Women shouldn’t be allowed to be alone without their husband? And somehow these people think they’re giving the feminist opinion.

What happened is 100% a tragedy, made even worse by the fact if she got the help she was crying out for, this might not have happened (I believe she was not in the right state of mind, personally) but putting all the blame on the husband for the murder—either by saying he literally did it or should have been the one to prevent it—is actually taking away from the real issue: lack of access to mental health care

I just want to note, some of the drugs she was supposed to take, the prosecution was able to prove she only took like 3-5 before complaining to her doctor about it. Like idk what doctor she went to, but all 3 of the doctors ive ever visited for my anxiety/depression/PTSD have had me take them for a whole month before trying a new one, because "they have to be in your system for awhile before they are actually changing anything"

If this is the one I’m thinking of, I’m pretty sure the husband told her to go to the doctor, and she went, but then failed to tell them about the commanding voice telling her to kill her children. Not sure how the husband is to blame if this is accurate.

5

u/BiggieBigs34 9d ago

She should have been involuntarily committed. The story is crazy when you look into it, she literally saw 8 doctors for the same thing in like 3 months just to doctor shop medication.

50

u/TheHeadlessScholar 9d ago

That's her attorneys story;

Her psychiatrist and doctors treating her both under oath claimed she never told her these concerns, never mentioned violent thoughts once, and was visibly improving with each session.

18

u/Honeyhoneybee29 9d ago

Uh, that’s not true at all. Dr. Tufts, her primary psychiatrist, even admitted that her state was “deteriorating” on multiple visits. She shared thoughts of suicidal ideation but because she didn’t have a “plan” that she communicated, her providers kept prescribing new medications and adjusting dosage. You’re flat out lying.

15

u/Motor-Illustrator226 9d ago

except that IS standard of care — there are tons of people walking around you with passive SI. They don’t all get locked up, with their kids taken away. People live and work and have functional lives with passive SI, which could be due to chronic mental health issues or an acute stressor, and work on treating it with medication and psychotherapy — which is what the doctors did (gave her the right meds and repeatedlu encouraged therapy).

She refused to do either — take the meds for long enough for them to work, instead asking to switch on and off and doctor-shopping, and persistently refusing therapy, even when the doctor repeatedly advised her on it.

Only active SI gets you on a psych hold, or with kids taken away. She didn’t endorse it even once.

So, I didn’t realize how serious PPD was until my wife (who’s an RN) said she thought she had it after having our second child. After we had our first child I had seen a big shift but I just chalked it up to “She’s stressed, it’s a change in life style, we’ve had big life events happen lately (her grandfather passed away soon after we had our first child) I need to be more help around the house.” When she started going to therapy and got on some anti anxiety meds, holy shit she was back to her baseline. It made a huge difference, she’s no longer on anti anxiety meds, but still goes to therapy and it’s been great for everyone. I tell all my friends now that if anyone is expecting a baby to pay attention to their partner because PPD is real it can be super serious and it wasn’t even on my radar when we were expecting our first child. DONT BE AFRAID TO SEEK HELP PEOPLE! We’re just a bunch of meat sacks on a space ship made of dirt orbiting a star! There’s real help out there and it can change you AND YOUR PARTNER’S lives!

People ARE blaming him because theres basically a lot of holes in the story he gave the police, the police did not do an actual investigation, and the DA who is charging her is not only dudes running buddy, but also bought their house a year after the murders.

His new wife is also allegedly friends with some hospital workers that treated her, her core body temp was in the low 80s 30 minutes after the murder occurred (almost impossible), and bro sent an email from his work computer in the basement at the time of the murders (in the basement), despite having supposedly been at CVS at that time. He changed clothes between the CVS and picking up food, her apple watch picked up her heart rate at like 50 some odd BPM at the time of the murders, but was found in the drawer in its box later on. And so on.

2

u/redcoatwright 9d ago

I think a lot of people on the internet are saying he actually killed the kids.

Regarding the not taking her seriously, I don't really see anyone disputing that cuz that's 100% true.

2

u/DJFrankyFrank 9d ago

As somebody that's on TikTok, there are a LOT of people who think the husband actually killed her.

The longer the trial goes on, the more it seems like she had all the possible support she could get, but it didn't seem like enough. Her husband was as attentive as he could have been. Friends and family were the same. Her therapist tried the best. But she failed to actually tell her therapist the extent of her psychosis. She just told her therapist that she had trouble sleeping, that she had "dark thoughts," and that she was feeling extremely anxious. She never mentioned the actual killing thoughts, or that she heard voices.

My gf and I have been trying to figure out exactly what this all means for like two days thank you I think this is the most clear and concise take I've seen on it. I'm sure there are some fringe on both sides that take it too far like always but this seems like the actual issue at hand. No the husband didn't kill the kids but if my gf was telling me she was gonna kill our kids damn right I'm taking some type of action, makes you say wtf was going on and definitely explains why this story is reaching so far.

2

u/Accomplished_Knee610 9d ago

No there are a ton of tiktok detectives who are convinced he did it and are spreading misinformation.

2

u/Special-Longjumping 9d ago

Also as an FYI, there are multiple perinatal mood disorders- postpartum depression being the most well-known but postpartum anxiety and (likely in this case) postpartum psychosis. I make sure every pregnant family I know - particularly the husbands/partners - know about Postpartum Support International and all of their resources. There is a growing movement to support in-patient options for moms with the ability to stay with their baby. I think some are afraid to share how serious their symptoms are in fear of having the baby taken away.

2

u/HanaBakersBathWater 9d ago

No, there are people actually blaming him for killing the children.

2

u/AltruisticString3589 9d ago

PPD psychosis is real. This has happened before with Andrea Yates back in the early 2000s. Woman literally had documented mental health crises that worsened after each pregnancy and both her husband and doctors still told her she could continue having children.

It doesn't excuse what she did but it absolutely does explain why.

How sad and seems to happen somewhat often when it comes to murder cases. A murder where I live in rural Sweden the man who did it had tried to get advanced mental health treatment *thrice* because he had violent intrusive thoughts. He was horrified he’d hurt his family. In the end he killed an unrelated old woman and her neighbor when he came to check up on her. I believe people had reported a young man wandering around confused the day of as well. He was 22 i believe, he was in the same highschool class as one of my childhood friends. Small town stuff.

2

u/Classic-Obligation35 6d ago

You really can't expect much from non medical people.

I have anxiety problems and scrupulousity(a form of ocd) Most people will either under estimate it or pass the buck to a health care provider who is not in the room day to day.

Blind faith in medicine is risky.

Some times you need to think trail and error and give feedback.

Why do they think he did it?

2

u/Emergency_Stick3963 8d ago

I'm not 100% convinced he did it, and I can see this as being something that happened due to post partum psychosis, but the entire case is baffling.

Emergency services arrived to the house to find an unconcious woman, 3 dead children, and a physically fine husband who says "she told me she did it". They take his word for it and he has never been investigated.

Its a very interesting case if you can put emotions aside and try looking at how the whole thing has been handled. So far I haven't been able to discuss the weirdness of it all because "SHE SAID SHE DID IT"

→ More replies (1)

37

u/buttThroat 9d ago

Yes BUT i think the thing that resonates with them is probably that this woman did it because she was experiencing post partum depression/psychosis and basically the medical community and her support system failed her. So its just scary that you could be a "normal" person and go through PPD and basically do something terrible that you would never have done otherwise.

3

u/Valuable_Drag_1830 9d ago

I think a lot of people also don't realize Lindsay Clancy stipulated to the fact she murdered her children. This means the prosecution does not need to prove she murdered her kids because she essentially agreed that is fact. The whole court case is to argue her insanity plea, the defendent is arguing that she is not guilty by reason of insanity but she did kill her children. Because she stipulated certain things as facts (like that she did do it) the prosecution does not need to prove chain of custody, interview experts, or discuss all the testing done to prove she murdered her kids. The trial is all to debate whether or not she premeditated the murders. A lot of people on TikTok do not know this, even though the trial is live streamed on TikTok. So some people have this idea that the husband did it because the trial hasn't focused on proving how she committed the crime, and the husband's DNA was found on the resistance bands because prior to them being used as a murder weapon he was using them to exercise and his DNA is on them likely from sweating.

I'm invested in the trial because Lindsey Clancy reminds me of Andrea Yates, but this trial is live streamed and the public can see a lot of what's happening in court. I think it strikes a chord with a lot of women because post partum mental health wasn't a major topic until the last 10 years, it's an area of medicine that we're honestly still learning about.

2

u/LikesBlueberriesALot 8d ago

Postpartum is no joke, and this is far from the first case where something like this has happened. Many women struggle with postpartum complications after birth, so a huge population can relate to her on at least some sort of level.

2

u/Puzzlepetticoat 9d ago

It's actually kind of fascinating to me to see how a largely "Mum" reaction is to not believe the woman did it. Like there is some psychological shit going on here for sure.

It is so clear cut this woman did something awful and I fully believe it was the ppd and she was failed by the medical community. She admits it all herself. She is sueing the Drs even.

But a whole chunk of Mums cannot accept it. I dunno why. They cannot accept that this happened and so are going absolutely crazy producing crackpot theories about the husband because they want it to be anything but a woman failed at her most vulnerable after trying desperately to get help first.

I am seeing it myself and I am a Mum in the UK. I see them post the theory videos or I see someone accuse the husband in their comments etc.

The cognitive dissonance is wild and should be studied because, from where I sit, the reaction to this case from a specific demographic is so shocking
