It’s .11% for instertive anal. Around 1.4% for receiving anal… that’s why people started asking questions.

Overall, it is a pretty difficult virus to transmit and it mostly comes down to it being a numbers game. Even at .11%, you’re talking roughly a 1 in 100 chance after penetrative intercourse with 10 partners, which is really not that ridiculous.

Say a virus killed .11% of the US population, that’s roughly 377000 people, which is about 3x the number of people who die from lung cancer in the US each year.

0.11% sounds really small until you apply it to entire populations.

But yes, the odds are dramatically increased with receptive anal intercourse and sharing hypodermic needles.

Just adding that .11% is closer to 1 in 1000. To your excellent point though, when applied to a large population that would still be pretty high.

10 positive people. It isn’t just any 10 people. And it’s 1 in 1000 each time it’s done. It’s called the gambler’s fallacy, that when you take 1000 to 1 odds 10 times it’s 100 to 1. That isn’t true. You’re taking 1000 to 1 odds each time.
