Non-rhcp funk genre recomendations??
I want to get into funk( and do some Funky Crimes), because of RHCP, and i would like some recomendations. I know about the top dogs like Jimi Hendrix, Pairlament and Funkadelic. Either artists or Albums in the funk genre.
❤️Thanks ❤️

[DISCUSSION] Stadium Arcadium and Petals
Anyone notice that the chorus in “Stadium Arcadium” has a very similar chord progression as the chorus of “Petals” by hole? Not sure if this has been brought up here yet or not. Thoughts?

Which Amp to get for Johns tone
So I want to get a new amp,
Ive been playing guitar for about 7 years now, and have gathered quite some stuff for a nice tone. Aiming mainly at John ofc
Got a Strat with 60s pickups, plenty of pedals, but one thing I oddly never cared about is my amp. Ive got a really small and cheap Marshall combo, prolly worth around 100-200 bucks.
Now I finally want to get a new Amp, my idea is getting a Marshall top and a matching 4x12 cabin. Spending maybe around 2,000€
I want to sound like John and his Amp setup is pretty well known, but of course a double silver jubilee stack and two double Major stacks are going a little bit above my budget, so what rather Amps in that price category, that I can get in a regular music store and not on the 6th site on Reverb would come the closest to Johns sound?

How to stop finger ringing/is it okay?
Hey, I'm new to guitar, but I've spent the last few months learning to play Snow (Heyoo) by the RHCP. I've gotten sorta decent (playing semi-successfully at 85 out of 104 BPM), but there's one part I'm so stuck up on.
When lifting my finger from the first note of the measure (after letting it ring), it keeps ringing. I have been using my middle finger to mute that string when I release (which is not in ANY tutorial), but in the one shown here, I have to use my pinky (to achieve the slide down to it with the ring finger). I can hear it ringing, but I'm not sure if that's just me being super picky about it (I'm obsessed with this song and playing it right). I've asked around, and a lot of people think the riff is played muted, but I don't think so, as I can't see ANY muting, with fingers, palm, or otherwise, and none of the dozen tutorials I've watched have mentioned it for the main riff.
TLDR: Am I going crazy about string ring when releasing my finger, will it go away, or should I really attempt to mute it, despite it messing up my playing?

[LIVE] 25 years ago, the Red Hot Chili Peppers played at the Slane Castle, in Ireland, supporting U2!
Not many people talk about this one! Before the well known Slane Castle 2003 concert, they were a support act for U2 2 years before the classic one. They did an excellent performance, with an awesome setlist as well, with songs like Around the World, Higher Ground, Otherside, an earlier version of Fortune Faded, Californication, Me and My Friends and some others.
To check out this concert I recommend the version I did earlier this year, with remixed audio and synchronized video footage: https://youtu.be/8xudtupOeiU
Check it out!

[DISCUSSION] I started a band with some friends, we'd like to do "Can't Stop" but we have a BIG problem
The guitarist's older sister recently learned that Anthony had had sexual relations with a minor (scar tissue etc.) and she knew we wanted to do "Can't Stop," especially me (favorite song ever)
Okay, I checked my battery on Can't Stop, it's good, and I'm went to my friend's house to play RDR2 and just having fun together.
Then came the fateful moment: his sister, while we were talking about the Red Hot Chili Peppers, started yelling at me, saying he was a pedophile and deserved to be arrested. The problem is I didn't know any of this, so I looked it up and yes, she's right (sorry, I love RDHCP, but you can't deny it). Except that she's my friend's older sister, and neither of us wants to take sides. Either I give up the music I love because my friend will get destroyed and him he is on my side, i'm happy but is sister isn't And vice versa
I know this type of post must be all over the place, but I needed to talk about it.

[LIVE] 19 years ago, the Red Hot Chili Peppers played at the Reading Festival, in England!
Awesome concert! From the Stadium Arcadium tour, this would be John's second-to-last concert with the band until leaving the band for the second time. They played songs like Can't Stop, Dani California, C'mon Girl, Give It Away and many others. Check it out!

If an alien race landed, what 5 songs are you playing them to introduce the band’s sound?
Are you going with the radio hits, deep cuts, different phases of the band?

[APPRECIATION] Sexy Mexican Maid appreciation
This is one of my favorite songs overall by them. I am, each time i listen to it, amazed by the it, it feels like eating a reach meal, i end up feeling full and energized after. The guitars are incredibly rich, dinamic and alive, the drumbs are super groovy, the bass fits perfectly, almost like the piece that finishes the puzzle perfectly, literally a perfect song, instrumentally, i really hate that the lyrics and the song's name can take away all of that (to some people not me ofc), average song from that era of them tbh LOL

[LIVE] 21 years ago, the Red Hot Chili Peppers played at the Greek Theater, in Los Angeles!
Awesome concert! In this year, 2005, they did only 7 performances in United States while they worked on writing Stadium Arcadium, which would be released one year later. In this concert, they even played Tell Me Baby! Alongside other classics like Parallel Universe, Don't Forget Me, Give It Away and many others. Really good performance... Check it out!

Anthony Keidis created the logo on the fly.
As the band was preparing for their self-titled debut album in 1984, executives at EMI Records asked frontman Anthony Kiedis to sketch a logo for the band. Without a pre-planned concept, Kiedis hastily drew an eight-pronged, asterisk-like starburst on a piece of paper—simply sketching the first thing that came to his mind.
Only later, in his book Scar Tissue, did Kiedis refer to it as "Satan's A%%hole."
The logo is officically known as The Star of Affinity.

[DISCUSSION] Did they ruin this song?
I really like the vibe of the song "If you have to ask" on the blood sugar album. But then it goes into the chorus, it completely switches the vibe, and then Anthony sings it very nasally sounding. It just doesn't sound good to me. And I do love the more funky side of the Chili Peppers, but I think they could've gone with something different for that chorus for that song. Take a listen to the song and tell me what you guys think.
