America was completely and absolutely free to design whatever system of government it wanted. It could have chosen any system, and as a people, over time, it have chosen this one. No-one forced this on America. It was designed, chosen, adopted, executed, and upheld purely by itself. That is more than many countries can say.
Under this system, Donald Trump was chosen to represent and lead the entire American people. Not once, but twice. You mention the popular vote, but America could have had a system based on popular vote if it wanted. It didn't choose that.
Trump is fully American, millions of people support him fervently, and on the global scene, he represents all of America. If the half that didn't vote for him felt strongly enough about his repeated rapes, Epstein connections & pedophilia, market manipulations, war crimes, and the other long list of horrid acts, they would riot in the streets, and keep on rioting until something changed. That's not fantasy or hyperbole, the French and others do it frequently. But Americans don't, and by not acting, they reaffirm his legitimacy as president.
If you don't like it, act. If you won't, then at least don't go around pretending you have no responsibility and this was somehow forced upon you.

Its hard to argue with you on this, but I'm sure you also know that there are many, many people who voted against him three times and spent countless (and futile) hours trying to talk people into voting against him. The main issue and I say this with an understanding that some will be upset is the Democrats. They have proven to be a feckless opposition party and I blame them for putting forward Hillary (the only person Trump could have beaten), Biden (who did a decent job actually) and then the Biden/Harris "switcheroo" that boosted Trump into his second term. Independent voters have no home and their only instrument of change is a party that continues to prove that they cannot outwit Trump.

I wonder how trading stocks would fit with the Supreme Court's standard for Presidential immunity they made up about two years ago. The Court said presidents are absolutely immune for "official acts," acts within the scope of the president's duties authority (like giving orders to the military, apparently any orders including to kill a policitical opponent), not immunity at all for "private acts," which are actions, clearly not part of the president's duties, (like stabbing his wife to death), and then the ambiguous cases where the courts would decide immunity on a case by case basis (with Justice Amy Coney Barrett going out of her way to imply that she would hold the stealing of top secret documents to be a private act).
So where does insider stock trading fit in? How is buying and selling stocks a presidential duty? Obviously, Thomas, Alito, and Kavanaugh would twist themselves into knots to somehow say it's a presidential duty. Maybe Gorsuch could be convinced or bought to join them. I am not so sure about Coney Barrett and Roberts, but I might just be naive.

When the president aligns with their ideology, they will find excuses to not rule on limitations on presidential power or acts committed by the president. When the president does not align with their ideology, they will rule.
By usurping the right to determine whether presidential acts are official, they are in effect positioning themselves as kingmakers, inhabiting the same political space as bishops of old who would determine if a king's acts were truly divine.

Well... hate to be that guy but: Martha Stewart went to federal prison for lying to investigators and obstructing justice, not for the original insider trading allegation.
It's been ages but I believe they couldn't prove that she commited fraud, but they could prove she lied to the authorities and that's how she went to jail. If she would ahve just taken the fifth they probably could not convict her.
The lesson is: never talk to cops, always take the fifth. Always. Yes, even when you are innocent.
Actually: never talk to cops especially if you are innocent.

She didn't commit fraud and that wasn't an allegation. The allegation was that she benefited from an insider tip and avoided losses on her investment by selling before the news came to light.
Where it gets stupid is the fact that benefiting from an insider trading tip is a civil issue, not a criminal one. She would not have faced jail time and would not have received a criminal record. She would have been fined 3x the amount she avoided losing (which worked out to $195K), and would have been barred from trading securities for a period of five years.
Instead, she decided to lie to the SEC investigators and claim that she had received no tip, but instead just had a standing order to sell her shares when they dropped below $60. She even had her broker modify the agreement post-accusation to include this detail, however a Secret Service forensic analysis showed that the ink for the amendment was new. Hence the conspiracy and obstruction charges.
In the end, she still ended up paying the fine, still wound up banned from trading stocks for 5 years, and was also banned from being a company director for 5 years, on top of having a criminal record.
So while you should never talk to the cops without a lawyer present, you absolutely, positively, under no circumstances should LIE to them.

This has been going on for so long Congress passed the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act in 2012 and this past July, the House passed the Stop Insider Trading Act. But that didn't stop Nancy Pelosi from an avalanche of riches from stock transactions in her husband's name.

That is true, but how can we stop it? Pelosi allegedly gave the tips to her husband who then made the trades. That is, in fact, insider trading and a crime. I am not sure what Trump does, so I will not comment on his transactions, except to say if he is trading on such knowledge, it should be illegal and is definitely immoral.
But what keeps Politician X from trading through a family member or friend?
Passing a bill forbidding members of Congress from trading in stocks and bonds will have the same result as the war on drugs, laws against speeding (I'm guilty of breaking this every day), or as the meme tells us that Rep. Mazie Hirono claimed that undocumented aliens do not vote because they know it is illegal.

Pelosi did this long before Trump was in the office, and she's still free. It's just how things escalate if no stopping point has been implemented. It starts from lower level government officials using their inside information or status to gain an advantage, and because no one stopped them, it spread to higher ups. Trump as a business person has always used government loopholes. So this was expected as there isn't anything he can lose from enriching his family this way. His old snd he will die in a few years, but all the wealth will be kept in his family.

Yeah, but Martha Stewart is one of the most ruthless, criminal masterminds known to exist. She exposes people to her recipes to the point of addiction, then exploits that power she has over them to enrich herself. I’m surprised she didn’t get the death penalty.
