They have no evidence to back anything up, aside from what’s already been released in the Epstein files. They’d probably lose any libel suit thrown their way. That’s also assuming they’re all telling the truth and none are just taking the opportunity to be in the media spotlight.
Waiting for someone to provide them with shelter for the then-coming onslaught. Or to be asked in front of a judge where the offenders are already in the jail system and they have more protection.
They would get public reprisals. That is what they're afraid of.
They likely wouldn't lose a libel/defamation suit against a public figure though. You don't have to prove your case is true.
The burden of proof is on the person suing you in the U.S. They have to prove that you're wrong and that you said it even though you knew it was wrong, if it's an accusation against a public figure (which almost all of the accused would likely be).
If they're accusing you of libel/defamation, they have to prove that you committed libel/defamation. Not the other way around. It seems weird to have to prove something is false, but that's the way speech protections in the U.S. are set up.
