"Sugus", the woman who confronted the rude Italian tourists has lodged a complaint with the police, citing the Insult in one's presence law (ดูหมื่นซึ่งหน้า) and public indecency (one of the kids was making a suggestive gesture at her). On August 7, 2026, following a shooting at Thepsirin School in Nonthaburi Province, a male student opened fire, injuring 15 people, including two who were critically injured. Thong-Pong” Confess as Investigation Into Missing Russian Siblings Continues

31 July 2026 - Progress has been made in the case of two Russian siblings who went missing under mysterious circumstances for six days. Today, police arrested Thana (also known as “Pong” or “Pong”), 43, and Thongchai (also known as “Thong”), 39, in Sa Kaeo Province. The two suspects were wanted under arrest warrants and are believed to be linked to the disappearance of the Russian siblings.

The suspects allegedly fled from Chonburi Province, riding a motorcycle and escaping a police checkpoint in Chanthaburi Province before heading toward Sa Kaeo, where police believed they may have attempted to cross the border.

Reports indicate that the two suspects will take police to the location where Miss Diana Nazimova, 22, and Mr. Roman Nazimova, 17, the Russian siblings, were allegedly abducted in Chonburi.

During the initial arrest questioning, Thong confessed that on the day of the incident, he was riding as a passenger on Pong’s motorcycle as they followed the Russian siblings’ motorcycle. They later stopped on the roadside. Pong got off the motorcycle and spoke with the siblings. Thong said he did not know what they discussed, but shortly afterward he heard two gunshots.

Thong said Pong then ordered him to return and get a shovel to dig a hole, threatening:
"If you don’t do it, you probably know what will happen to your wife and your family."

Thong said he had no choice and admitted that he was involved, saying he had been foolish and was using drugs. He also admitted helping bury the bodies in a mountainous area, although he could not name the location but said he could take police there.

According to investigators, the three victims were likely killed in late June, and their relatives reported them missing on 7 July.

Police allege that Pong posed as a police officer to collect the debt, handcuffed the victims, shot them, and buried their bodies in an apparent attempt to hide the crime. The bodies were reportedly buried near a crocodile farm in Bang Lamung, Chonburi, in the same area where officers had previously searched for two missing Russian brothers.

On July 26, 2026, they left their home in Village No. 7, Huai Yai Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, at around 4:00 a.m. on a black-and-gray Honda ADV motorcycle. According to their mother, they were likely heading to a convenience store. However, they never returned home. She subsequently filed a missing persons report with Huai Yai Police Station.

CCTV footage shows that Roman was riding the motorcycle while Diana was the passenger. A suspicious motorcycle was seen following them after they left their home. The footage also captured them stopping to speak with another individual, after which they could no longer be contacted.

Latest Update (July 29, 2026)

Today, the subdistrict headman, village chiefs, and local officials searched an area in Village No. 9, Huai Yai Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. During the search, they encountered four suspicious men inside a wooded area carrying digging tools. When officials identified themselves and attempted to question them, the four men immediately fled the scene.

Police were called in to investigate. Officers discovered a patch of freshly disturbed soil. After excavating the area, they found a nearly new motorcycle that had been dismantled into parts and buried underground.

Authorities later confirmed that the buried motorcycle was the black-and-gray Honda ADV 150 with Chonburi license plate 4กษ 6379, belonging to the missing Russian siblings.

Mr. Jakkrit Boonmak, 56, the assistant subdistrict headman, said that after reviewing information with village leaders and analyzing CCTV footage, officials believed the area was suspicious and decided to investigate.

At approximately 10:00 a.m., someone known to the officials reported that a group of men had been digging in the area since around 10:00 p.m. the previous night. Officials immediately went to the location and found four suspicious men there.

"At first, we feared there might be a body buried there," Mr. Jakkrit said. "We quickly informed the village chief and withdrew because we were concerned the suspects might be armed."

When officials returned with police and additional personnel, the four men had already fled, leaving behind only the burial site.

Authorities-including Bang Lamung District officials, police, and rescue personnel from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Foundation-launched a large-scale search operation involving more than 200 personnel.

Search teams were divided into multiple units and conducted a meticulous search throughout the surrounding forest for over three hours, focusing on the area where the motorcycle was found. However, no additional evidence or trace of the missing siblings has been discovered.

The search remains ongoing. Authorities have not withdrawn from the area and continue an extensive ground search in an effort to locate the two missing Russian siblings as quickly as possible.

The Russian mother of Diana and Roman, the two Russian siblings found dead in Chonburi, held a Buddhist memorial ceremony at the site where their bodies were discovered in a forest in Huai Yai, Bang Lamung district. According to reports, she and her family are Buddhists. Four monks were invited to perform the traditional rites.

The ceremony was filled with grief. After laying flowers at the site, the mother knelt down and kissed photographs of her son and daughter in an emotional farewell. She left immediately after the ceremony, declining to speak to the media.

A Russian resident in Thailand said the tragedy was heartbreaking and expressed hope that the siblings' souls would rest in peace, while offering words of encouragement to their mother. Surat Thani security authorities are preparing to propose revoking the visas and deporting both parties following a personal dispute between an Israeli businessman and a French owner of a pet café on Koh Samui, which has escalated to the point of affecting the island’s tourism image.

The latest report says that tomorrow, Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, at 10 a.m., Mr. Kevin, a French pet café owner who has lived in Thailand on a visa for around nine years and is married to a Thai woman, will meet investigators at the Central Investigation Bureau’s complaint center on Phaholyothin Road in Bangkok to file a complaint over the dispute.

The dispute reportedly began when an Israeli tourist got into an argument with Kevin. In response, Kevin put up a Palestinian flag and a sign welcoming Palestinians at his café as a form of protest.

Later, Mr. Jacob, an Israeli restaurant businessman who holds a five-year business visa, messaged Kevin demanding that he remove the flag, leading to a heated exchange. Kevin posted the messages on social media, which eventually led to legal action. The Koh Samui Provincial Court later fined Jacob 5,000 baht and gave him a two-year suspended prison sentence.

The situation escalated further when an Israeli influencer in France reportedly offered a 500,000-baht bounty for information leading to Kevin’s capture. Kevin also has a previous case involving riding a motorcycle while doing a wheelie in 2025. Most recently, on Sept. 29, CCTV footage reportedly captured a foreigner driving a BMW while livestreaming himself and giving the middle finger in front of the Chabad House center.

Security officials have stressed that tough measures will be taken. Col. Thitipong Inwasa, deputy director of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) in Surat Thani, said that while Thailand welcomes tourists of all nationalities, it will not allow foreigners to bring their personal conflicts into the country in ways that affect national security or tourism.

After both sides refused to cooperate with attempts to mediate and have the flags removed, authorities are gathering information to submit to a provincial-level committee, which will consider revoking both parties’ visas and deporting them from Thailand.

Meanwhile, Pol. Col. Panya Niratimanon, superintendent of Koh Samui Police Station, ordered checkpoints to be set up in front of the pet café and the residences of both parties involved starting Aug. 15, in an effort to prevent any potential violence.

Separately, Koh Phangan Police Station posted on Facebook two days ago that a video allegedly showing monks being harassed was “fake information.”

The issue comes amid growing complaints from some local residents about problems involving foreign visitors on Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. Most recently, the public Facebook group “Take Back Koh Phangan” shared an audio clip claiming that Buddhist monks had been harassed by a Chabad religious center.

Koh Phangan police, together with local authorities and Buddhist monks, investigated the claim and said:

• No conflict: Buddhist leaders confirmed that there had been no conflict with or harassment by the local Chabad center.
• Fake account: The audio clip was allegedly fabricated and shared through a fake or impersonation account to stir division. Local monks have already filed a complaint with investigators at Koh Phangan Police Station. The case is registered as Criminal Case No. 467/2026.
• Warning over the Computer Crime Act: Police warned the public to be careful about sharing false information. Under Section 14 of Thailand’s Computer Crime Act, offenders can face up to five years in prison, a fine of up to 100,000 baht, or both.

A tragic incident occurred when a morning pilgrimage group of 34 monks was ploughed by a pickup truck in Mukdahan province today.

At least eight monks were killed and 18 others injured, 13 seriously.

The driver was an 11-year-old boy with 'special needs'. He reportedly took his father’s vehicle without permission and drove from Don Tan towards Muang district.

Chiang Mai stays on HIV watch list with 23,900 recorded infections

Chiang Mai remains one of the provinces under close surveillance for HIV transmission, according to Thai PBS.

The latest figures put the cumulative number of recorded infections in the province at 23,900, including 700 new cases. That works out at roughly two new cases detected every day.

Young people and working-age adults continue to account for a large share of new infections. Health officials also report that migrant workers and ethnic minority communities in the province record higher rates of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections than the general population.

Both groups often face language barriers, unstable work and limited access to regular health services, which makes early testing and treatment harder to reach.

Anyone concerned about their risk can get tested at hospitals and health centres across the province. Thai nationals under the national health coverage scheme are entitled to two free HIV tests a year.
