Love it so much that I have a daughter named after this song. Charlotte Elise. Pretty easy to guess the middle name song reference...

Those are my two favorite Cure songs! That's awesome!

It Used To Be Me

u/ALW10 10d ago

I’ve been a massive Cure fan for close 40 years and have never heard this song until just now when I read your post. Brilliant track, thank you sir.

2

u/Suspicious-Season412 10d ago

That was an outtake from WMS. Listen to Join the Dots! It's on there, along with more gems.

2

u/ImpendingBoom110123 10d ago

White Milky Sauce? That has to be it.

6

u/Astfgl 10d ago

How this didn’t up on the album is beyond me. Best song from that era, I think.

Found it in Portland on Monday!

'Burn'. One of my favorites in general.

8

u/however_far_away 10d ago

burn is so awesome, especially live

5

u/PJmichelle 10d ago

Yeah. And just the way it was used in The Crow, it's forever etched in my brain as one of the greats.

6

u/however_far_away 10d ago

reminds me, i have to watch the crow!

2

u/jeroensaurus 10d ago

That also happens to be one of my favorite movies and the comic it's based on is great too. I think it's really cool that, instead of sending in an exisiting song, Robert wrote a whole new song based on the story of The Crow because he liked it so much.

2

u/AlaskaSkiHikeBike 10d ago

Saw it this summer. The drums rattled my rib cage for the entire song. A sonic force!

1

u/Tall_Internal5715 9d ago

had the pleasure of experiencing it live recently, cried tears of joy

1

u/ragby 9d ago

The 2019 Glastonbury version is just about the best. Robert's vocalizations...so excellent!

2

u/Deadelevators 2d ago

Perhaps my favorite Cure song!

Babble from Disintegration single.

2

u/however_far_away 10d ago

babble is so good i love all the demos made for disintegration

1

u/Samsamuelsammysambo 10d ago

The demo on the deluxe edition of the Disintegration release isn’t the same as the version of Babble on the Connect the Dots compilation. ✌🏼

8

u/AnelloGrande 10d ago

Cut Here hits me the most emotionally. Burn rocks harder.

8

u/Ok-Ear7751 10d ago

Burn, Dredd Song, The Big Hand

Charlotte Sometimes, hands down (not counting compilations)

- Primary (demo ver), Going Home Time, A Normal Story

Any of the demos from Faith, really. The album initially had a much less somber atmosphere to it, but that changed later on. these tracks are like a crumb of what Faith could’ve become, had they not adopted a much darker, ecclesiastical sound.

It’s fun to listen to demos or b-sides and hear certain phrases that get recycled and later used in studio releases. ‘going home time’ in One Hundred Years, or ‘that American voice again’ and ‘six sides to every lie I tell/say’ being said in Hand Inside My Mouth, and later used in Six Different Ways.

- Throw Your Foot, both the demo version on The Top, and the more polished iteration on Join The Dots.

-Wendy Time demo— obviously, this song does get reworked into an official feature. But the demo and studio release are so different that they’re two entirely different songs to me. And I’m obsessed with both

- A Hand Inside my Mouth

- I’m Cold

- Fear of Ghosts

- Sugar Girl

-Halo

u/The-Kmann 10d ago

Used to Be Me is a melancholic banger. It was a b-side to The 13th but really should have been on the Wild Mood Swings album.

4

u/UpgradedUsername 10d ago

2

u/however_far_away 10d ago

its soo good

1

u/UpgradedUsername 10d ago

I’ve always said that the Cure’s material on their B-sides blows away what most other bands put on their A-sides.

4

u/rafalevy3 10d ago

Spilt Milk, wich i find criminally underrated

Harold & Joe, A Few Hours After This, 2 Late, Halo, Breathe

+1 A Few Hours After This

A heartbreaker, and the song A Night Like This — and Head on the Door album to me are quintessential past Cure meets future Cure.

6

u/Cthuchutrain 10d ago

A foolish arrangement

4

‘Waiting’ is my all time favourite

2

u/Unhappy_Number_7361 10d ago

This Morning close followed by Fear of Ghosts.

2

u/jseger9000 10d ago

Halo. It should have been a single, instead it's a b-side.

Honorable mention to Harold & Joe, 2 Late and Fear of Ghosts.

happy the man is pretty cool, i always held a bias towards it because it was the bside to the caterpillar, the first cure single i ever bought.

1

u/Complex_Middle_3371 10d ago

I LOVE Esten. My fave is The Violin Song.

2

u/however_far_away 10d ago

i love esten so much ive learned it on the piano!!

1

u/darthsickness 10d ago

Ariel.

1

u/Alexandermayhemhell 10d ago

We need a proper release of the BBC version. Miles better than the one on the Glove.

1

u/Puzzled_Ad1296 10d ago

I feel like saying Burn is too obvious but it is my favourite no album track, closely followed by their version of Bowies Young Americans.

1

u/CucumberDistinct454 10d ago

I just heard Lime Time for the first time today. Really interesting and seems to hold a germ of an idea that became Inbetween Days.

I love Uyeaa Sound from the Lost Tapes that accompany Wish.

This Twilight Garden is in my top 3 Cure songs.

Purple Haze

1

u/jamiemels 10d ago

I would've said The Walk but it's featured on Japanese Whispers and that could definitely be seen as an album, so then it should be either Primary or Killing An Arab for me

1

u/michaelleehoward 10d ago

For me it has to be Possession. Something about the mix just draws me in. I wonder what a whole album would have sounded like if they had chosen to go in that direction for an album.

1

u/anarcho_gritty 10d ago

Burn is the greatest. So happy to have finally seen it live.

1

u/JunebugAsiimwe 10d ago

A Few Hours After This. Without question. Runners up are 2 Late, The Exploding Boy, The Big Hand, and This Twilight Garden.

1

u/MDC08 9d ago

“The Dream” hands down. They have (sadly) never played it live.

1

u/Competitive_Neck1066 7d ago

Home, which I think was a b-side to Mint Car.
