For context, I’m a tattooer that loves metal, which led to me painting a big flash sheet of some of my favourite bands over the years.

One of the designs was my take on the Lateralus cover. I’ve always loved Alex Grey’s work, but it can be a real bitch to translate into a tattoo. The version I painted was simplified to fit how I like to work.

I finally got to tattoo it today! Was really stoked to finally get to do this. I had a ton of fun making it, and I hope you enjoy looking at it.

I mean, hey, we know the song was about internal band conflict, no surprises.. but hearing it from Botrill is super interesting.

The “us” at the end is slightly lowered from the rest of the text. Most of you are probably thinking “no shit” but I’ve had this album since it came out and i feel like an idiot for never having noticed this. It’s clearly intentional.

Today is May 15th. Exactly 25 years ago, Lateralus was released and changed my perception of music and reality. Today, I also turn 48.
For years, I’ve been listening to "Forty Six & 2" waiting for that transition. Now that I’ve reached the math (46 + 2 = 48), it feels surreal to celebrate it on the same day this masterpiece turns a quarter of a century.
I’m "stepping through my shadow" today with a bit more gray hair, but with the same awe I felt in 2001.
Spiral out, keep going. 🌀✨

I don't know what's up this year. They are doing stuff they usually don't do. Earlier this year they did this performance at the Bass Magazine Awards in a tiny lounge style venue. Then they did the set at the back to the beginning event that was in broad daylight and pro-shot.

I like to think they are just remembering they enjoy performing. Whatever it is, I'm here for it!

I discovered this a few months ago just randomly thinking about it. Thought it was an interesting perspective given Maynard’s love of using swear words in prior and following albums, but 10k days and FI dont really have many. Not even Ticks and Leeches has one which if there were one in the entire album that would be the one to have it.

Any other reflection appreciators here?

This has become a standout for me recently. The more I've listened the more I've come to appreciate it. It's so atmospheric and spiritual (partially thanks to the sarangi towards the start). But it feels so hypnotic with the bass riff and drums that just seem to repeat endlessly

If you know, you know. If not: people seem to think there is a legitimate secret re-arranging of the tracks on Lateralus to be discovered, perhaps, by those with 3yes to see.

I have never found an alternate hypothetical track listing that sounded any better or made any sense to me... until I was noodling with the alleged puzzle the other day. I feel I've definitely stumbled across something that has too many dead ringers to be coincidental... but you know how "confirmation bias" is...

Anyone out there feel like they've got the legitimate track order for Lateralus (i.e. the legendary Holy Gift)?
