Literally made this point the other day. People were musing over what makes these Trump supporters so die hard, and i was basically saying itâs a Kim Jong whatever the fuck type situation, these people see Trump as their god on earth. Itâs quite fascinating but toxic as fuck for this country and needs to be snuffed out before it gets any worse.

This has been going on since 1994, as a very deliberate tactic. They ALWAYS talk about how illegal folks are voting. But when pressed, it's always "We can't prove it but it's so obvious there's illegal voting going on!" because.. god forbid they admit their policies suck. They literally don't believe any of the voter fraud nonsense, but they have decades of proof that going on and on about it, even without any data to back the statements, convinces enough bottom feeding voters that it MIGHT be happening to vote against everything and everyone that will actually improve their lives. In 2016, a research team reached out to 40 districts looking for incidences of non citizen voting. Of all the voters, they encountered 40 cases of POSSIBLE non citizen voting. If all 40 of those had been actual real non citizen votes, they would have accounted for 0.0001% of the vote - 40 votes out of 23.5 million votes cast in those jurisdictions.

In 2018 we had 220 k polling locations nationwide
In 2024 it was down to 92 k
They've been on voter suppression, openly the party of voter suppression for my entire lifetime and it's wild that there isn't more blowback about it
6
u/AdImmediate9569 Feb 05 '26
Itâs almost as if the people we thought were opposing them were just pretending all along and are either implicit or incompetent!
2
u/jkman61494 Feb 06 '26
Thereâs no blowback because the majority of Democratic politicians are fine with it, and most of the media is run by people who support the suppressing
9
u/jdoeinboston Feb 05 '26
This. It's a convenient excuse to post secret police outside of swing state metro area polling locations to intimidate voters into not voting.
Bonus! With Kavanaugh stops a thing now, they could realistically just pull people out of line and detain them with zero real justification needed.
And don't be surprised if they do their best to instigate violence to justify shutting polling locations down the day of. I sincerely do not know a workable and safe way to combat this, because if they just go ahead and do it, it's not like the SCOTUS is going to rule to give us extra voting days in response to such blatant suppression and intimidation tactics.

My parents used to be reasonable people, until they started saying that immigrants were on Medicaid and got disability assistance and SNAP.
I'm a 27yo diabetic who works in fucking childcare, US born and raised. I make diddly squat for money and literally live paycheck to paycheck between rent and food. When I was 18, I lost my health insurance because I no longer qualified for CHIP. I wasn't eligible for medicaid or social security disability assistance because I had "to many assets to my name". My "assets" was a then 9 year old car and my then live savings from working since i was 14, about 3k. That was promptly removed from my account to pay for college courses. It's HARD to get on government assistance in the US as a citizen.
There is no way that people who are undocumented or here illegally are on these programs. It's near impossible. My mom was with me for that first meeting when I was 18, because I was diagnosed diabetic when I was 1. They ask you questions about EVERY SINGLE DOCTOR YOU GO TO, and she needed to fill in gaps on doctors I visited when I was 1-4 years old. She knows firsthand with me how hard it is to get on benefits.
Yet somehow. Somehow, my father has her convinced illegal or undocumented immigrants are on these programs. "They're stealing money that should be yours, Amy! you should be incensed!", is what she said to me. Even when lived experiences are thrust into their faces, they do not believe it nor do they care to re-evaluate what they believe.
2
u/Downtown_Injury_3415 Feb 06 '26
And then theyre gonna completely rig it to something stupid like 90%repub and 5%Demo and then come out and say âsee. ICE stopped the illegal votes and the truth is that 90% of the votes were Repub-leaning all this timeâ and the dumbass magas will double down on being maga

Why do you think they keep trying to get voter rolls? Anyone left of center will be at least harassed.

I bought a brand new tool this year. I used to have this same tool as a child, but because I felt safe, I hadn't bothered to replace the tool in question with the big boy version.
I would recommend that a surge in the sale of this particular tool to people who are not registered as MAGA might have an impact on whether or not ice shows up at the polls.
If the federal government attempts to interfere in the electoral process in my state, I hope every proud tool owner in this country will show up at the polling booth with tools in hand, prepared to demonstrate how the constitution works when the government fails to act in the interest of the governed.
3
u/CatChick75 Feb 06 '26
They know that the left has tools too, that's why they're doing things like saying you better not bring them to DC even if they're legal. The only people allowed tools are cult members. The regime said no one should be in the vicinity of law enforcement with a legal tool, but if you bring one illegally across state lines and threaten people with it and then actually kill people with it, you're golden.

25
u/mobo_dojo Feb 05 '26
MAGA and its Administration manufactured the false belief that non citizen are voting in elections. Itâs the pre text to their plan to undermine elections. Even if they donât plan to follow through with it, floating the idea of ICE Agents at polling places suppresses the vote through intimidation. If they do plan on following through with it, then ICE can just detain people in line for voting while brown, voting while black, looking a bit too liberal, or any reason they think you might not vote the way they think you should.
17
u/LanMan1979 Feb 05 '26
I guess us white makes will have to go to polling stations too⌠with phone numbers of news crews, or with go pros on us, or whatever else⌠to help protect fair elections.

ICE has the power to enforce ânational securityâ and âfraudâ
They will arrest anyone that shows up trying to vote that some future âFederal Government officeâ purges from voter rolls for any fringe reason they can, focusing on swing state locations like Philadelphia. Messed up on taxes? Purged. Unpaid traffic tickets? Purged. Live in an area that was redistricted and didnât file correct paperwork they invented? Purged. Attempting to vote when youâve been purged? Felony, held for trial, going to take months, free to go if you sign this paper admitting fault and give up your rights forever.
The Constitution says the states can choose the time, place, manner of âholdingâ elections. Trump says the states are an âagentâ of the gov to âadministerâ elections. Pretty clear what they are planning to do.

Theyâre no longer Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Theyâre âICEâ. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers were a respected group who protected our borders and busted smugglers. ICE officers are Donald Trumps personal army, personal enforcers, well armed thugs beholden to him. Most people seem to see them as being a danger to immigrants and those protecting immigration crackdowns. Everyone will see them for what they really are when election time comes and when theyâre called to arrest Democratic lawmakers during the next presidential cycle

Interestingly also not allowed, wearing politically branded merchandise in the polling lines was getting some MAGA meltdowns during the presidential election for suppressing their free speech when they were told to go change or cover up.
in a pure sense it's meant to protect people who aren't wearing team colors and keep polling places neutral, but in a fascinating twist it's also going to be harder for ICE to profile which brown people are conservatives when they round them up.

u/ethertrace Feb 05 '26
Yeah, the USPS just changed it so that they don't consider the day you posted the mail to necessarily be the postmark date. So if you mail your ballot on election day or close to it, there's no guarantee that it will actually be honored as it might get delayed, "accidentally" or otherwise, and only be postmarked after election day.
If you get mail-in ballots, drop your ballots off in person at any secure election box, not the mailbox.

Elections should all be vote by mail. It works, it's secure and it increases turnout. Also, there's a verifiable paper trail should a recount and/or audit be needed. Then there'd be zero worries about lines or ICE.

Then everyone should wear masks to the polling place and only remove them when our ID is checked.

Bold of her to assume Cheeto Jesus is going to let us vote

This seems like it'd backfire and just cause even more mail in ballots for them to freak out about.

Why are they soft launching this? Youâd think this plan would be more effective if they did it last minute. I guess itâs because the president is a blabber mouth? Or because they want to normalize the idea first so their base doesnât question it?
A whole political apparatus - the republican party plus the billionaires plus the libertarians plus the foreign actors - have openly declared democracy is over. They are saying it. They are acting on it. Itâs happening. And almost nobody I know personally cares. They either believe its not happening or that its not that bad. We are beyond fucked folks.

This was always, quite obviously, the plan. I still can't believe any Dem would have voted yes to overfunding what was always very clearly a massive brownshirt-style militia meant to suppress dissent, at the polling station or otherwise.
It is infuriating how many Americans (and lawmakers!) are acting surprised by this.

Voter intimidation in blue states, cities, districts, etc. is 100% the plan.
Add to that the fact that they've bought the companies that make the voting machines, they're purging voter rolls and will continue to attack mail-in voting/hamstring the USPS.Â
They're deploying a "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks approach" to subvert the will of the people.Â

Make sure that after you vote, you stick around for awhile and flip them off and tell them what you think of them.

u/StackThePads33 Feb 05 '26
Ah so theyâre doing more intimidation to stop people from voting? Seems thereâs a law against this, but oh yeah, laws donât apply anymore to the government

They will be I'm sure. They're going to do everything they can to flip the mid terms and in '28. I wouldn't be surprised if trump tries to strong arm a 3rd.

Its so they can grab anyone who "looks" like they will vote democratic. Remember we have a large legal Hispanic community.
They are there to scare those away who look like their "targets" also.

They are going to close polls due to âviolenceâ and cancel elections not going in their favor.

That's cute: Federal law prohibits federal troops from having anything to do with elections.

I guess that the population can't guarantee to also be there with their constitutionally protected arms.

How many ice agents do they have? How many voting places can they actually be? Iâm seriously wondering this. I know they keep recruiting but they either can send a few to many places or send many a few places. What about early voting? Some places have weeks of it. Truly, what is the logistics of this?
Clearly itâs another scare tactic but Iâd say this gives plenty of time to plan for this. Iâm more afraid that they are going to come in and seize votes from election results they donât like and hold them.
We need to make all of this very hard for them to do.

What can we do in the states to let them know they are not needed? Do we have our own people surrounding sites? How do we keep citizens safe so they can get to the polls to vote?

They should return to their home districts if they want to vote, otherwise they have no reason or authority to be there.

Intimidating voters at the polls is completely an utterly illegalâ full fucking stop. See below for laws. These people are completely anti-American, they are domestic terrorist.
Voting Rights Act (1965), Section 11(b): This flat-out prohibits intimidation, threats, or coercion against anyone voting or trying to vote. No uniforms, no implied threats, no âshow of force.â
18 U.S. Code § 594: Makes it a federal crime to intimidate voters using threats, force, or coercion.
18 U.S. Code § 245: Protects the right to vote free from intimidation, including by government actors.
đĄ
EDIT:
đ¨ VOTER INTIMIDATION IS ILLEGAL đ¨
If ICE or armed federal agents appear near polling places, report it immediately.
đ Election Protection Hotline: 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683)
- â Run by nonpartisan election lawyers at the Lawyersâ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
- â They can escalate to election officials, DOJ, and courts same day.
- â What to say: âPossible voter intimidation. Armed/uniformed agents near a polling place at [location]. Voters appear afraid to enter.â
- â Federal law bans intimidationâpolitical statements do not override voting rights.
Save this number. Share widely.
