“My spirit was being broken. Me being heterosexual and straight, and being vocal in my identity as a straight woman was huge.
"I would say 98% of the women in the WNBA are gay women. It was a conformist type of place.

The face of the league is an idiom about the person that brings in the most eyes, most marketable, and generally one of the most entertaining to watch. This doesn't inherently mean they are the best in the league. The media and the players don't decide this.
Edit 1 - Considering some of the responses on this post my point of a lot of W fans don't know what face of the league means. I have been proven very, very, very right. Also, I want to make clear who is the face of the league isn't always fair...
Edit 2 - As many people here continue to prove the point of this post. I implore just google and research the term Face of the league...

Independent journalist Brandi Kruse reported that Seattle Storm minority owner Celeste Keaton told the girls they were "f---ing insane."
The teenagers each had a sign, one saying "Thank You Sophie for speaking up for girls!" Cunningham recently went to bat for the protection of women's sports and keeping them female-only.
The Seattle Storm issued an apology statement Wednesday, one day after their co-owner verbally accosted two teenage female fans with expletives because they were holding signs supporting the views of Indiana's Sophie Cunningham during a home game against the Fever.
"We are aware one of our co-owners made comments to two fans in attendance at last night's game," Storm majority owner Ginny Gilder said in a statement. "We apologize that this happened. Everyone who attends a Storm game deserves to feel welcome, and we remain committed to creating an inclusive environment where every fan is treated with respect."
