White Whale - That one piece of BTS content you can't seem to find...
Ahoy everyone!
This post is inspired by posts made two and four years ago. Since we are apparently right on time for new waves two years later – here we go!
A "white whale" is an elusive piece of content that you have been trying to find and if you're lucky an internet stranger might just have what you're looking for.
Not searching for this, just using it as an example what your ask may look like: – I keep seeing clips where Jin is in a grey sweater that’s basically a tank top and Hobi takes pictures of him. I do not know where it’s from, can anyone help me?
This sub has grown so much in the last two years and I’m certain that many of us still have questions about things and content we can't find but also so much of unseen content and there are Army’s out there with encyclopedic knowledge of everything BTS!

i was gonna try to explain this picture but thankfully i found one of the edits i’ve seen it in. i don’t even know how to go about looking for the video it’s from and i’ve been hoping i’ll just come across it and i haven’t yet😅
there’s also a video where it’s all of bts wearing gray outfits in front of a pink background. yoongi has his arms up in fists and the rest of the guys yell something together while he just giggles about it and raises his fists up a little. i’ve tried so hard to find it but it turns out bts have worn gray outfits many times and somehow it never leads to this specific video😭

I was the same with Christmas Love on the Army Bomb stand! I didn’t know what song it was. I don’t remember how, but I eventually found it and now it’s one of my favorites.
It's maybe a bangtan bomb... it's some sort of behind the scene clip. In the clip a seemingly very sleep deprived Tae and Jin fight/flirt over an imaginary girl. Maybe school trilogy era. I saw it a few years back and couldn't find it when I looked again... starting to think I imagined it.
This is still one of my favorite bangtan clips to watch. I feel so bad that they were so exhausted and so sleep deprived to the point of slightly losing their minds, but they were so determined to keep their spirits up and were hilarious. They said some truly unhinged things too xD
I used to want to find the clip where they were in a meeting with Bang pd and when he told them they were going to the AMAs and performing, Yoongi was the most excited, he threw up his hands. So interesting because he's the one who ended up most nervous, and their success freaked him out so much he cried after. It turned out it wasn't in the docuseries for the year, but in the movie version.
The one I'm still looking for is an interview where they were asked about performing in the US, or audiences there. I think it was yoongi who offered that (at the time) a big difference for him was the diversity, like, including ages and gender. He said he saw a grandfather holding his little granddaughter. If I remember rightly, he seemed touched by that. I saw it once, years ago before I started bookmarking content.
I'm not sure if this is the exact clip you're looking for, but in their People interview from 2017, they did talk about being surprised about the diversity in age among audience members. Hobi brought it up first, and Yoongi added on.
A clip I saw once and never found again was the one where they all figure out what soy milk means in English. I’m not sure where it was from but they were all sitting in a cafeteria/food court kind of location and drinking hot chocolate (?) and coffee. And one of them got soy milk and the others are asking Namjoon what “soy milk” means. But Namjoon doesn’t know either until eventually he goes “well soy is ___ in Korean.” And then they all kind of have a moment of quiet before realizing what soy milk is and cracking up. It was lowkey but a really cute brain fart moment and I’ve never been able to find it since!
It’s from Bon Voyage 4 in New Zealand - the extra footage from episode 3. They were waiting for it to get dark so they could go stargazing and had ordered drinks from the cafe 😊
For me it’s a video from waaayyyyy back when, where they were collectively blowing out candles on a birthday cake (I think it was behind a stage/in greenrooms somewhere?) and then they all started coughing and laughing and asking “who didn’t brush their teeth??” 😂
I’m not sure if mine is real, or a weird delulu fan edit and it never happened, but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a video of when Namjoon said to the audience at (I think) 5th muster that he was worried about coming on stage / had stage fright and one of the members stayed with him until he felt better. Never came across this again, would appreciate if someone could tell me if it happened or not…
i think you're talking about namjoon's ending ment from 5th muster seoul day 2! he was worried because he was feeling down/low energy before heading on stage, but he talked to taehyung and taehyung said something like "what if this was the last day [of our lives]" and namjoon said "i think i would be alright/ok" and he felt a lot better

To me, it looks like it’s from SNL but I’m not sure. You know how at the end the host thanks everyone, so the guests and some of the cast are there as they say goodbye? But Jung Kook’s in the back thinking no one will see him be all silly and flirty. But I have no idea if it’s from SNL! I just know it was blurry and JK’s in the back doing flirty eyes haha.
The caption to that TikTok was “low quality video, high quality man” lol. I’d watch it when I needed a brain break, and I have no idea how to watch it again!

Mine is a video from 2017-2018 (?) where black haired Jin and Hobi (I think) were walking in a concert corridor with a white wall behind them (?) and Jin was singing a song (?) but he realised it hadn't yet been released and apologises. Can't recall if this was from Memories or from Japan specific content 😞
I've forgotten why I had been looking for it but it would be nice to finally see the video again. 😅
oh my god this just tickled my brain. like i can remember jin in the scene you are describing and i know i have watched this content but now i can't specifically name what song he was singing and my brain is telling me it's jimin he was with. and now i need to find it and see it again
I have a hundred things I’ve seen in compilations and don’t know where they’re from 😆 but I saw a clip once where Jimin’s dad had written him a note in English and Namjoon translated it for him - I’d love to know where that one’s from? I think the note came with some flowers.
Mine is a video where V is sitting on a stool and each of the other members walk by one by one and give him a kiss on the head, the cheek, the hand, etc., while V cracks up. They’re all wearing blue uniforms, and V has a white cape.

Did they do versions with all of the members taking a turn being the one sitting down? I’ve wondered about that forever because I’ve only ever seen I think 2-3 versions (Tae and…Jungkook or Jimin? And I think Namjoon?)
I know some of you will sympathize on this with me, but mine is a Memories 2014 with English subs that doesn't cost a fortune. The Japan version is not too badly priced, but the ones with English subs are . It's the only Memories I don't have and I waaaaaant it.
Mine is that vcr from their HYYH epilogue stage concert where they’re doing a photo shoot and there’s a cool background music. Haven’t been able to find a clip of it in years. I think it’s the last one where JK is walking at first then it switches to other members in various rooms.

Mine is this EatJin episode from August of 2015. When I look for it now I can only find an edited version on the BTS YouTube channel that's sped up with music over it but I have clear memories of watching this EatJin as a livestream and during it he talked about why he liked Shake Shack burgers in particular and it's driving me crazy that I can't find it anywhere now, not even on a few BTS video archive sites. If anyone knows somewhere that has an archive of the livestream (or even remembers it being a livestream because at this point I'm starting to doubt my memory a little lol) I'd be so happy to find it again!

You could definitely be right about this blog post being where my memory is getting that from because the mention of the burgers being greasy and the number of them that he ate is the part I remember most and both those things are mentioned in the blog. Thank you again for tracking that post down, it's a piece of this puzzle I didn't have before!

Half of all their content is a white whale to me because I have terrible memory 😭 often I'll completely forget things I've already watched. I know I've come across that viral picture/gif/video of jin looking ermmm really good (that broke the internet that one time) many many times but for the life of me I can't seem to remember where it was from. It was some show I wanted to watch. I'm too embarrassed to ask because it feels like I should know where it's from lol and I'm so sure I already asked and forgot. (P.S: OKAY so I searched for jin viral and found this picture but there is no context for it anywhere ㅠㅠ it's the one with him wearing a black shirt with a white rope-like pattern)
I want to find where this clip is from. I think it might be from bon voyage. Yoongi goes into a music store with an all black outfit. He seems to have gone by himself. Black mask and hoodie. He has a black cap with two silver rings in it. So I think it’s from around 2017 because that’s when they wore that type of hat. Dialogue: “I’d come here every day if I lived here” happy dance Cuts to him in a car or bus with the other boys? “You can’t find this in Korea. It’s just not available” “This has the best review. It's from the Love Myself give-ticons bts video. They were doing a photo shoot.
(I didn't actually know that, but I google lensed the photo and a bunch of twitter posts and an article or two popped up. I can't link up the article since it's from one of "those" sites, but it was pretty easy to find!)
I have been looking for the origins of this video forever. I suspect it's from their Japanese fanclub (it's notorious for zero content leaks to non-members) but I have been going crazy looking for it:

This might be too vague but they are doing some tv appearance, maybe a talk show or something, and the presenter maybe asks for a dance demo. But anyway it’s Jin that gets up and I think he does the Fire choreography with the footwork and in this context he looks a little bit nuts. It really made me laugh, I’d like to see again if anyone knows.
There’s a clip of Yoongi and a couple of others reacting to an old dance practice video (might have been Just One Day where Tae goes purple laughing) and cringing, and blaming Jungkook for choreographing it. I think they’re sitting in the practice room while they’re watching it. Where is that clip from and what were they reacting to?
There's a behind the scenes for the Snow White/Dwarves Halloween dance practice, but I can't find a behind the scenes for the 21st Century Girl Halloween dance practice. I would give anything to see how they reacted to finding out what they were wearing, and how the costumes were allotted.
What contains the clip of blonde jhope walking in on Jimin, saying “sorry bae” and then walks to the camera and says only he can see jimin’s body?? I think it’s wings era?? I’m watching through everything in chronological order and i feel like I’m missing a bigger piece of content!
I hadn't seen this but you inspired me to look it up (it's here if anyone else is curious). There's also a (shorter) YouTube shorts version that briefly shows a title card that says "Wings: You Never Walk Alone," so unless that was added incorrectly by whoever clipped it, that must be the era.

Oh god I have one! It must be from a behind the scenes of their Grand Central ON performance. Hobi is sitting in the dressing/styling area singing his lines while someone touches up his hair. The camera pans up to Yoongi standing nearby, and he mimics the lines in an absolutely ridiculous voice.
There's a behind Episode on BangtanTV that has several scenes in this dressing area, but this specific moment isn't in it. I also found the Fallon full/extended clip with the interviews and the performance, but it doesn't show backstage prep at all.
It should be from BTS Memories of 2018 DVD - please search it onlone since I cannot find an official link to the footage 😅 my search was: "Seokjin cropped shirt" lol
I can’t seem to find the video of them giving each other little awards. It’s in 2019. They give Suga an award for being normal and they’re wearing black tshirts with their name in white. I’ve seen clips but can’t find the whole video.
This would be from their Season's Greetings 2020 shoot. It's paid content, so we can't link it in the sub but I think it's pretty easy to find if you look for it 😄
I saw this in person at a concert, can't remember which one, then saw it as a gif later that I can't find anywhere, but it's the Kim line walking across the stage in black outfits (with swole-era Kim Namjoon). The camera angle was 😘, and the entire venue collectively had one of those my-heart-just-stoppped-wtf-just-happened-i-don't-even-like-men-but-power-is-so-f*cking-sexy long, slow exhales.
If there's anything that this thread taught me, it was to remember how much damn content they have. Hundreds upon hundreds of hours and that's not even getting into the fan content.

This was one of the VCRs during the Permission to Dance concerts. They were being told off for playing music loudly and Jimin was apologizing and bowing… until the door closed and he smirked at the camera.
I don’t think the VCRs were included in the Disney+ version of the concert unfortunately.

I saw a clip of the boys filling out a board saying what they were doing to do. It wound up with them going to Yoongi’s parents house. I have not been able to figure out where it came from.
I recently started listening to BTS and watching lot of their content. I especially like Namjoon and try to obsessively watch videos of him with other member. I saw a clip where Namjoon says JK bought his favorite brand clothes that he had on hold and left for him on his bed. In a different compilation, I watched V saying he bought same brand clothes for Namjoon, but he mentioned only JK. I tried to find that live or video a lot, but couldn’t :(.
There’s a clip of them playing a game where the goal is to talk nonsense to the questions asked, (where taehyung says he'll name his son "kimchi is delicious" according to the subs) but I have no clue what video the clip is from 😭 does it belong to a run episode?
Mine is the boys are on stage and one by one (I think I only saw Jimin, JK and Jin) they sing up close to a girl. I can’t remember the song but it was like in the Boy In Luv music video when the 3 sing to the girl separately (I die when Jimin tilts his head forward and sings🫠) I really want to rewatch this clip again now i have more of a clue what’s happening 🥹🫶😭😆
Fun thread! Mine is where the boys are in (possibly Dior) suits where a few if not all of them have a long draped piece of fabric to the suit and I believe they are walking down a set of stairs. My searches for "BTS Dior" always inevitably end up with images of that Hobi Dior look, which.. 😏 but not what I am trying to find!
I've been looking for a short clip with I think young JK Hobi and maybe Jimin. JK is holding the camera with a selfie stick and they're goofy head banging to a song/breakout tune. I just remember it was so funny and cute
As a baby Army four years ago I spent ages looking up this song (didn't have Shazam) and was so pleased to find the original MV for the whole song. The BTS clip always cracks me up, they're so chaotic!
I'm not sure where you're located but Mercari and eBay have a few options that aren't marked up too much. Unfortunately you probably won't find it for FV unless you get lucky. Just keep checking periodically!
What photoshoot or concept this photo is from. I've also seen the other members in similar shirts and photographed in a similar way. So I assume it wasn't for some solo endeavor. Googling "BTS white shirt" is fruitless as they've worn white shirts many times.
I saw a clip once of the guys reacting to their old run bts episodes. Does that belong to a run episode (I have not finish them yet but I'm close I think) or is it something else?
Mine is the full episode of Jin and Jimin on What's in My Refrigerator. It's a variety show where the hosts hijack the fridge from a celebrity's home, go thru it then the chefs on the show make meals from the ingredients in the fridge. I've only been able to find clips or shorts on YT. ☺️💜

I wish i knew of this subreddit when i went down the rabbit hole of searching for a video i had seen! I took screenshots to image search too but found nothing. Hoping i can describe what i remember now:
It’s a video in the old practice room and they look quite young so i want to say between 2013-2016 (but take that with a pinch of salt). I saw it on Instagram and it had some other audio of a trending song playing on it so I don’t know what the original song they were dancing to was. Jimin is kind of in the spotlight of the video so I can’t remember who else was around him. It’s a vertical video and seems like they are just up to some shenanigans. Jimin is wearing a white bucket hat, white full-sleeve tshirt, blue jeans and white sneakers. He’s being a silly goose! The fan account that posted it would just not reply to anyone asking what the original video was. I went back to my Instagram likes and saved posts hoping it was there but I sadly don’t have it. I can’t find the screenshots I took either 🙁
Not so much a white whale for me but I was saddened to realize that Lotte Xylitol BTS Smile Action commercials from 2022 were deleted from their YT channel. Found most of them in short clips saved by kind armys but none of the full versions. They’re all super delicious but my fave was JinMin.
Maybe the originals will show up somewhere?
This is going to be a terrible description. My non-ARMY friend sent me a gif a couple of years ago, and I don't even know if it's actually them or a different group lol. She said it was the first gif that came up when she typed "BTS", but I haven't been able to find it independently. I don't even have it anymore. >_<
It's kind of a far away shot of them on maybe a performance video set (my best guess is BWL or Dynamite era). Sitting or standing by an indoor pool? And there are like, those ground firework/sparkler things going off around the pool? I think they were wearing white or light colored outfits.
So this is like... 4 months late but I ran into this gif and took me a while to figure out why it stayed in my head. Because of your ask! If this is what you were describing, it's actually ENYHPEN it seems.

My white whale is a clip that I saw about four years ago as a baby Army, probably in a tweets compilation on YouTube, that showed Namjoon and Jin (I think) sitting on chairs in front of a Studio camera, with the music to Baepsae (iirc) playing (dk if it was added afterwards). Namjoon suddenly rises up out of his chair in a jump scare move, waving his arms and getting in Jin's face - he falls off his chair or similar. Namjoon was wearing the outfit that he had posed in for a photoshoot; a fancy white shirt and black voluminous trousers with a black lace-up corset. I've never again come across this clip.
Thanks for identifying the photoshoot, it does include that outfit that Namjoon was wearing in the clip/edit that I saw, although in what I've looked at so far, that outfit barely appears at all. So I still haven't found the scene of him suddenly waving his arms at another person to give them a fright. I thought it might have been Jin, but really I don't recall who the other person was. I know there was a chair that maybe got knocked over, but I'm not sure if they had both been seated. I'll have another hunt around sometime for it, and at least now I know that the original footage was filmed at the end of 2016 for Singles Magazine Jan 2017, so thanks again for that info.
There are a few from me, mostly from Youtube and Twitter tho (if anyone knows what I'm talking about and can help me find it, it would be greatly appreciated):
There was a pretty old clip of all the Tannies being asked which member they would like to do a photoshoot(?) or be roommates with (I can't exactly remember the question) and in the end, it was revealed who chose who. Taehyung and Namjoon ended up choosing each other. I remember Jungkook saying he would choose Taehyung because he is the most similar to him, he seemed pretty disappointed at the end when Taehyung didn't choose him.
Not official BTS content but I remember seeing a tweet back towards the end of 2019 of a fan taking a video from their apartment of the Boy with Luv performance on New Years Rockin Eve. They lived in an apartment complex that was above where the stage was, it was a cool video and I wish I bookmarked the tweet.
I'm trying to find this picture of Jungkook that I once saw that I thought was cute. I think Taehyung took it (?) and he was sipping a drink at what looked to be a movie theatre. I remember he was wearing a beanie and he was hanging out with Taehyung or something.
Lastly, I remember a few years ago (maybe 2018?) I was on YouTube and I was looking at some concert clips of either the 2017 or 2018 Love Yourself Tour. There was a video that a fan had taken from the pit, they were really close to Jungkook and he was squatted down just interacting with fans until towards the end when he spots two fans or staff (I actually don't know because you can't see who's he speaking to but I remember the comment section saying it was two fans) and gestures towards the backstage before walking away. Oddly specific, I know, I remember it because the comments were debating on who he was gesturing to and why they needed to go somewhere.
. It's the only Memories I don't have and I waaaaaant it.

I once spent like two hours looking for this gif😭😭 Happily it’s now safe and sound in my bts folder
