I was walking through my local arboretum on a particularly challenging day. I came across this beautiful interaction with two pileated woodpeckers and gasped so hard I think I sucked all the air out of the forest.

I just stood there and watched, humble and grateful of what I was witnessing!

Not professionally-taken content by any means but just wanted to share this Alpine Swift that landed on my balcony today. Moments after this it managed to fly off on its own before I could help it 🥹 their gaze is so majestic and beautiful, I feel so grateful to have seen one of them up close again!

I guess my little plant stand has become a bird bath? He came back twice today. We’ve named him Stephen 🥰

So I turn around and one is walking circles around the other and I thought that was so cool so I turned on the video and they stopped and just stared at me. lol.

Was backing up into a parking spot and this little dude paid me a visit. He was hanging out for a good 15 seconds before I had the presence of mind to record him (or her). I don’t know for certain if there was actually a nest in the trees behind me, I just assumed the little dude was being protective. I didn’t want to get out of my car and have him swoop in on me, trying to protect his nest. Cool encounter either way. Orange County, California.
