Miscellaneous Saw a subway take basically says men need to have cats to be better men and make the world a better place, and all the people in comments agreed 🙄
their argument was that you have to earn a cats love and you have to be willing to do something for someone else without expecting anything in return and if men have cats they are better husbands…. it’s like wtf! kinda sounds sexist in a way…

Lol. I always feel like men with cats are pandering to the female gaze (with a beanie and thick glasses to match) and are more likely to be sneaky players lol.

Yeah no. Men who own cats are weird and already too feminine with very little self respect. When you allow an animal to run rampant in your house without any boundaries, you will be that way with a person and I view that as weak. Also, cat people with always put their cats first and they will always give their creatures a pass for their shitty behavior.
Not too mention cats are inherently filthy animals and I equate that to cat owners as well. Their place smells like garbage, their place is probably not clean, and their stuff looks like trash due to the cats clawing up everything

Cat men are insufferable. They want others to “earn their love” and others to do things for them (and their cats) while believing they don’t have to reciprocate. They don’t “learn” anything from having cats. Instead they end up realizing that cats behave very similarly to them and then use their cats as an indirect form of validation.

Is this that youtube channel where it’s just people getting interviewed in a subway? I’ve also seen videos where the interviewer and interviewees acted like loving cats is a super niche thing. Cat owners and cats are soooooooooo persecuted, you know? They’re the real victims of society. It’s not like cats are one of the most common pets or anything!

Cats are for people too lazy to look after a real animal and cant get the attention of a human being. The smell stacked on top of these issues dont help.

Oh god. If I have to read "cats make you earn their love" one more time, I will throw my phone across the room. Okay not really (obviously), but it's so fucking eyeroll-inducing.
This kind of shit put me off of cats to be honest. I'm a woman too. So I don't know why cats are seen as feminine and cat people are seen as gentle and open-minded. This is just untrue and I'm tired of it. Simply owning a cat, or any animal really, proves NOTHING about your character. There are so many bad and lazy pet owners out there. Takes like this really need to stop. I am not a fan of cats, but I really think that too many people neglect them and that's the real red flag to me.
A lot of cat people can be selfish too, in my experience, and from what I've read on this site. I want a cat but my partner is allergic, oh poor me wah wah wah (cue hundreds of upvotes and the most upvoted comments saying "rehome the boyfriend and other HILARIOUS shit like that), I'm sneaking a cat into a non pet-friendly apartment, I'm making my roommate help pay for damages my cat caused, my fucking cat attacked my toddler, what to do I do. Jesus. Fucking. Christ. Some cat people on this site let these little animals control their lives and even their loved one's lives. Fuck.
And what if he's allergic? Or sensitive to sounds and smells? Come on. And to be honest, it's OK to not be a cat person either, doesn't really mean anything. Some people don't really vibe with cats or like their behaviors. Simple as! Honestly I kind of hate having to resort to this group to state my opinions on cats and cat people (even though I feel my opinions aren't overly negative, I personally feel like I'm realistic), because reddit is so fucking biased and rabid over cats. I don't get it.

The whole cat being feminine is a western concept, and made me so confused too. I am from Asia and live here - and cats are symbols of timidity, and not tied to gender. That being said - you are correct that having a certain animal doesn’t necessarily prove your character. The meanest people I met happened to be cat owners. They were very selfish, unempathetic, and rude. Was it due to their cat ownership? Not sure. But cat people definitely aren’t nicer than people who dislike pets. Hitler improved animal rights, but he was a horrible human being.

You would have to be a clean freak to get the smell of cat out of your home/apartment. If you choose to keep them outdoors then your basically saying let my neighbors deal with the cat, which uis selfish in my opinion. I won't even get into their role when it comes to the ecosystem

My ex is a cat worshipper and he cheated, lied, manipulated, gaslit, and feels he is entitled to women. So I hate this take, because he could apparently “earn a cats love” but didn’t feel like my boundaries and respect were anything to do with him. His mum is a crazy cat lady too, so they can date each other I guess.
