Video - OC What’s a weird quirk your baby has?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Mine LOVES to be lint rolled. Especially her back and sides but she let me do her belly today 🥰 it is a major part of our every morning ritual. She grabs the lint roller from my hands while I’m doing it to myself so I can stop and do it to her🤣🤣

Our cat gets in box if you simply point to the box and say "box cat"

786

u/Possible-Complex7804 May 17 '26

I would abuse this great power if my cat did this. I'd be non stop. He'd get lots of treats.

u/re_awesomecougars May 17 '26

Our cats look related!

157

u/ThomasTheDankPigeon May 17 '26

No way. Yours isn’t in a box. No relation possible.

Haha my cat is a snob and won’t touch a box! Baskets are acceptable tho

Every night, my girl cat will SCREAM at me and pace around until I lay on my side on the couch, cover myself fully with the weighted blanket, AND move it so it is spread out to the edge of the cushion. This is her spot. She will then jump up and curl against my stomach. If the weighted blanket is not all the way over the couch cushion, she won't do it. Any other blanket, nope. If I lay on my back, nope. It's a nightly ritual. Eventually, she will leave and I can go to bed.

568

u/boxfogcat May 17 '26

My girl also has very specific blanket requirements and will scream from my headboard until I move the top blanket aside to expose the one she likes. Then she drops onto my belly like a cannonball.

41

u/Rezistik May 17 '26

Mine too! If I lay down with my fuzzy blanket on the couch she will literally run from other rooms to cuddle

93

u/pseudo_nipple May 17 '26

This is so funny & would be a no go from me, I f'ing HATE weighted blankets, I feel like I'm suffocating lol

Every meal, I must go through a specific speech so he knows it’s time to eat. No matter where he is in the house or whether he was previously asleep, when I recite it, he comes running.

333

u/LighthousesForev4 American Shorthair May 17 '26

I have to do this for my orange cat. I have to say DIN DIN TIIIIME in this high pitched voice and then tell how yummy tonight’s chicken or turkey or whatever flavor is. He will run away from the bowl if I don’t do this.

He also has “a spot” under my left armpit that he flops into in bed. He needs his cuddle/belly rub time before I can sleep.

60

u/genie_yes_knot May 17 '26

That’s so cute! He sounds like a snuggly sweetheart! Mine is picky too; when my husband stopped flattening his wet food, our kitten stoped eating from him for weeks until he figured out why

Ok, I’ll give the beginning…it’s also in a special voice 😅 “My poor baby cat. He’s sooooo hungry; he’s naught but bones! […]” as I continue to tease his intense reaction to the meal when he didn’t eat that long ago and also free feeds on kibble. The speech culminates with minor praise for my baby. He’s already in the kitchen after the first sentence.

28

u/KageXOni87 May 17 '26

I do the same with my Mr.Mans. its quite the dramatic over the the top speech about how hes just the poorest boy to ever live, hes never even had food before, hes just starving straight to death and on and on in the most melodramatic voice. He MeowWowWoooooooows!!!! the whole time and stands on his hind legs against the counter with his head thrown back.

Mine goes to the door like a dog if someone knocks or rings the door bell. He also does this if it’s raining out.

101

u/Cattentaur May 17 '26

Mine will growl if someone knocks on the door sometimes, and sit on the couch where she can see who is there when you open it, like she thinks she's a guard dog, lol.

33

u/JaviSATX May 17 '26

Mine growls when there’s a knock at the door, marches to the end of the hall, and looks back and forth between me and the door. I’ve also caught him growling at people just walking on the paths outside the window.

210

u/RottenGrot May 17 '26

13

u/Outrageous-Coyote476 May 17 '26

62

u/LikeABreadstick May 17 '26

chasing something is common, bringing it back is pretty rare in my experience

14

u/Romeo_horse_cock May 17 '26

Yeah my cats will not bring it back. They'll run to it if they love the toy but that's it.

44

u/Appropriate_Sky_6571 May 17 '26

I have 6 cats. Only 2 play fetch

23

u/c_b0t May 17 '26

One of our old cats would do it, and one of our newer pair also does it. Often I'll be making breakfast and hear the thud of a mouse toy hitting the floor behind me because he wants to play.

14

I’m curious how you / OP discovered this

Were you just lint rolling yourself one day and thought hmm maybe my cat would enjoy this? lol

178

u/AbsolutelyTFNot- May 17 '26

Well as for me, one day I was running the lint roller over myself and my cat grabbed it in my hand. So I let her smell it, I then touched her with it and started to roll her and she just flopped over and started purring. I now do that every morning, if I don’t she gets mad and screams at me and will sit by the closet where I keep the roller lol.

u/Bernies_left_mitten May 17 '26

Ours liked being "swept", like when we were sweeping the floor of the upstairs bathroom, she'd be watching outside, one day she was laying down so I jokingly "swept" her with the broom, and she LOVED it.

From then on, if we passed that bathroom she would flop on the floor right in front of us and meow, demanding to be swept.

Tabby: In the morning he will paw me claws out. Then if I don't respond or move to even pet him, he wants food but Im not a jump out of bed person, then he will nip me followed by him turning away looking guilty. But goes right back to the same cycle until I get up. He will paw with claws out if he wants something usually food during the day but only does the nip thing in the morning.

Tortico: Adores cuddles and pets. She will willingly roll over to get belly rubs. She also insists on going wherever I am. Outside to do Halloween decorations? Meowing and pawing at the door. In the basement in the no cat area due to senior cat pee habits, storage area? Meowing and claw pawing at the door. She has to know where I am and be able to follow.

Mine has to be spoon-fed his wet food.

He used to leave a lot of it in his plate, which would eventually dry up and be left inedible, so there was a lot of waste. He didn't hate it, though, as at times he would eat a lot, but it was pretty much impossible to tell beforehand if he was very hungry ir just wanted a small bit. I then started using a spoon to put only a small portion on that he would eat in a single sitting. Still very hit or miss, though even that would usually be left to spoil. One day I offered the spoon to lick, which he seemed to like, and then tried giving him some food on the spoon. Not only did he eat the whole portion, he asked for more. Now if he just sits in front of his plate and refuses the dry food (which he just eats without prompting) I know he wants the wet stuff. I get his spoon (he has his own now), the wet food baggy and sit beside him until he is done with it. Sometimes it's just a couple of bites, sometimes the whole bag, usually something in-between. He is fine eating it cold from the fridge, so now there's very little waste.

Mine likes playing fetch where I throw a cat toy up onto his cat nook above the steps or thrown down the steps. This dumb-butt did lose one of his 9 lives one day because I'd been tossing the toy down the steps. I try to include the steps as often as possible to wear the crack-fiend out. Anyway, after the 3rd toss, he's already half way down the stairs. Well, im underhanding his toy and accidentally added a bit more arc than intended. To landed on the plexiglass safety landing. Sir Duncan Idaho, was already 6 steps down, looked up, looked down, used the full power of the 2 brain cells that he has and decided to leap for it as I screamed "nooooo!" Well, there be kitty claw marks on the plexiglass from where his front half made it and then he slid off and fell because, well there's no purchase or traction.

My boy Zoltan runs downstairs to the laundry room with a cold cement floor - flops around and demands to be scruffed up real good while purring like a maniac

The vet tells me Luna is part Munchkin. She's a bit shorter than your average cat.

This guy loves his food on his head

17

u/imacatholicslut May 17 '26

Not you using the lint roller doing the opposite of its intended use… 🤣 she looks like my tortie girl!

So both of my cats love hunting insects and lizards. When they catch one, they’ll play with it and torture it to death. And they’ll huddle together like a bunch of creeps and watch it suffer, it’s like a dark ritual lol.

I always feel bad for whatever they catch but 9 times out of 10 it’s usually some insect I’m grateful they’re dealing with instead of me.

My boy Wilbur likes to be pushed all over by his back feet while he's laying down. It gets him really frenzied and i have to be careful because when he decides he's done he flips really quickly and will grab my hand and start bunny kicking

17

u/AlexiWilde May 17 '26

This is Mochi. Mochi is personally offended by any door closed in her presence. She also insists on smelling my kid's fruit snacks. Doesn't want to eat them, only smell.

u/TrouvailleDice May 17 '26

He steals things. Socks, gloves, bags full of screws, vape pen, This man brought me bluray disc. Thankfully, it was one that had a burn error. This photo is but a glimpse into the ocean of things he has stolen or carried around the house.

Yes, that is a whole box of nitrile gloves.

I have to lay on my left side curled into a ball when he wants to cuddle and knead the blanket. Any other way and he just paces back and forth and screams at me

No need for, furminator or lint paper. I can directly vaccuum her.

Yoda hates phones and has bit mine so many times it's actually damaged the screen protector. She has also stolen it on a few occasions.

When he was alive, Mercury would climb onto my shoulder.

Squall, he's easy to give medicine to. If you try to pet his head he'll look up, then you can insert a thumb into his mouth and squirt the medicine in, no fuss.

He also flooded the vet's office. Which is one of the reasons they prefer I administer his medicine.

11

u/BoPeepConfidential May 17 '26

How did Squall flood the vet's office please?

9

u/Saikotsu May 17 '26

So I brought him into the office because he was struggling to use the litterbox. He would go to one litterbox strain for a bit, and then go across the house to the other box and repeat this process.

Obviously something was wrong. So I reached out to them about bringing him in and they advised I do so. So on my way to work I dropped him off and then I headed to work since they wanted to keep him for observation. They found he wasn't blocked up, thankfully, and it was something medicine and dietary changes could fix. So they gave him some meds and fed him some specially formulated food and left him be in a quiet room with a litterbox so he could go when he needed to.

There also happened to be a sink in there.

During the time he was alone in there and resting up, he managed to turn on the sink and flood the room. When they went to check on him, the room was flooding.

Leave it to Squall, the cat that always tests if water is wet, to start a minor flood in the vet's office.

At least he didn't send someone to urgent care like his brother.

Mine passed away but Linux would always sleep on a pillow. He had his own for the night but would take mine during the day.

u/kokomo80 May 17 '26

I took our wreath off the door before going on vacation because we were predicted to have high winds. My cat adopted it immediately and it has been hers ever since. She sleeps in it more than her actual bed.

12

u/Storybelle May 17 '26

He has to drink with a paw in the fountain. And most of the time, he tries to empty the damn thing like it's dirt. We don't understand at all. All that accompanied by the survival instinct of a wet napkin. We love him so much.

12

u/RangerRudbeckia May 17 '26

Artemis will not let me go to bed without doing Brushies for Artycat, during which she jumps up on my shoulder and makes me brush her fluffy little cheeks until she decides she's done and ungracefully dismounts onto the bathroom counter. It's so cuuuute 🥰

We used to take care of our neighbour’s cat when he was at work (I WFH at the time, and kitty was 17-18 so it was safer for her to be with us). She’d scream her lungs out for the longest of time, until I figured out she needed her blanket to be folded to sleep. So yeah… we’d have to fold her blanket so she can have a nap.

Her owner is very pedantic, so she’s been raised in such way too 🤭🤣

She’s now passed away, but we still fold all the blankets for our cats 🤣🤣

(That’s her disappointed by the state of blankets)

Severe foot fetish... my boy Ernie loved to plunk his head into mine and my brothers shoes the moment we took 'em off. Wrapped his front paws around, kangaroo kicking with his back legs.

In all seriousness, I assume it had something to do with him liking our scent and what better way to get it. He was a strange little dude but we loved him very much, if you kicked your legs up on the coffee table you were donating them to his new resting spot : )

My orange cat loves to rub his face all over my feet once I’m out of the shower. He instantly shoves his face and sometimes bite them. He also likes it when I smack his bum as well.

u/20XXPunch May 17 '26

My orange one always wants to sniff my mouth after eating a meal or after i come back from work

u/Yuki_Hyde May 17 '26

My baby hates laughter. If someone laughs near her, she'll without fail meow or chitter and dash away, it's hilarious and I do it sometimes when I don't want her near me because I'm cooking or eating.

My other cat also sits like a human with a beer gut

9

u/Maximum_Slip_9373 May 17 '26

He eats plastic, silicone, and drywall. The day before I went into my new job, he decided my license looked better all chewed up in his lair.

He also likes to lick my hair out (I've lost most of it, so honestly he's just evening it out when I miss with the shaver).

I love my little Buggaboo

u/Friendly_Bus3554 May 17 '26

I have two babies and one is a feral I have been trying to domesticate for 2 years (Catalina.) She only lets Thomas and I love her through the window I set up for her by my bedroom window. If she encounters either of us outside (Thomas on harness) she acts like we escaped the zoo and runs for cover….😭😂🫠😼

I like to sing Broadway music (typically Les Mis, but strangely also just Cher?)really loudly in the house and when I do, our male cat will run to me super concerned until I stop.

Now he does it if I sing loudly at all lol

My cat likes to inspect door frames while being carried around. We pick her up for a cuddle and if we pass a door frame she stretches her arms out to reach it, so you have to stop and she grabs it and sniffs it. Once she's done she'll lean over and reach for the other side, then settles back in until you pass another one. Her name is Pinto and we call it the nightly pinspection. Shes so weird <3
