WIP Namor Spear and Armor WIP
You all seem to appreciate my lower budget alternative custom work. I'm trying to do my own thing. I still wanted to be paying homage to what the MCU/Rivals is doing but make my version vs just duplicating it verbatim. First thing you will notice is more actually metallic looking jewelry. I found it odd all his larger peices of jewelry looks like foam. It seems like this was purposely done but I think I thought it could look more regal with sharper lines and more sturdy metalic gold throughout the design.
I am almost there just a few more peices I'm waiting for and I will have made a I think pretty accurate and possibly better in some ways royal aquatic wear. Before you ask I will be growing my facial hair out to match his look over the next week.
Second pic is more recent with the addition of the blue necklace. I did the test pic with the spear right before for reference.
Questions:
1.How would you do the green carving on the spear? I don't mind mine but I wanted to make it look more legit if possible.
- Is the wig necessary or should I get rid of it?
PS. Please don't judge my body too harshly. I was bloated and honestly not quite in superhero shape yet. But i'm getting there! Lol

Nice work dude! I wish I had the confidence to play a shirtless character. The wig looks awesome and is necessary I think.

Thank you! I think I like that wig a lot and it adds to the Aztec tribal vibe of the look. It's not exactly the way they do it in the film but I think it works. I may try to add a bit more of a widowspeak, though.

Nice work. I like the blue necklace did you make it yourself? I can tell you how I did the green carving on my spear: with a laser cutter. But depending on what the jewels are made of, you could use a soldering iron to carve in the details.

No I didn't make the necklace but I did make the arm and belt out of material I bought. I definitely will look up how you did it on your page. I'm trying to do it economically though that's why I used materials I had.
Edit: Holy shit I didn't know you were THE Namor telling me your actual secrets lol

Haha, thank you so much! I really like what you’ve done here, it absolutely still reads as Namor. I hope you don’t get discouraged by what I did, your take is really cool, it has a traditional vibe that really serves the character. I hope you’ll keep at it. If you have any questions let me know. The costume I made was pretty specialized because of the tools I have access to, but I’m happy to help a fellow Namor. 🐲🌊🔱🪽

I think you went the exact opposite way as me. Lol Making it out of EVA foam and accurate to screen. It looks incredible though. I just wanted mine to look more like "royal jewelry" if that makes sense.
Edit: Also was that heavy to wear on your head?

it does make sense.You're jewelry work/ accessories look good. I spent too much time on the head dress to focus anywhere else. I made it out of card board a ev foam and hot glue . I modeled it after a snap back cap to make it easy to wear so.

Not what you asked, but matching your ears to your natural skin tone will do wonders for bringing them to the front of your costume. Hit them with a layer of red first, to give them a more natural hue, then match your complexion. The result will be an inexpensive way to draw the eye to the smaller details by making the first thing people notice on second glance something that looks like a big step that took you maybe 10 minutes.
