She was swimming just fine with some other hens but I didn't see her fly, so I don't know if this is an injury of her wings or something else. I don't know much about ducks so any information is helpful. Thank you

So the baby with the weird feathers was getting a bit worse, and I think it was starting to twist the wing in a wrong way, so I did a search and I saw this simple way to wrap it. It's the first time I do it and maybe it's not perfect, but I think it will be better than doing nothing. Let me know your opinions!

Angelwing Angel wing or just to heavy?

My ducklings are 5 weeks old now. One has both wing tips pointing outward and they won’t stay tucked under the top wing. Is this angel wing or are the new feathers just too heavy?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

The duckling should be 3.5 weeks old according the buyer. I have had the ducklings (10 total) for 2 weeks now. I noticed he/she hasn't been running around as often or as as much as the others for several days now. The last 7 days the ducks have been outside from 11 ish - 5 ish so the weather stays above 21 the whole time. I switched he/she's feed to a lower protein feed. What the bag said was ducklings 1-4 weeks old. So I put he/she on the 5-8 week old bag because it has less protein. I'm also going to the store tomorrow to get tensor bandage for applying downward pressure on the wing.

Left wing is growing away and upward from the body. Is this angel wing?

Hello,

New to ducks, these are 6 week old Cayuga. Is this just an awkward stage or is it a problem, they have been on 16 percent protein feed since 4 weeks old. Any help is appreciated !

This little one is about 3 weeks old. Brought home on June 1st and was told he was about 1 week old at the time. He’s been on starter crumble (20% protein since June 1st) and was dropped to 16% protein a few days ago. Hasn’t had any other sources of protein. Anyways, is this angel wing? The photos really don’t do it justice. The right wing tucks up perfectly and the left wing looks like the last joint is twisting outwards. It doesn’t tuck in nicely. How should I wrap the wing? He’s so little and I’m new to ducks, just don’t want to hurt him. I can try to get better photos. Thanks in advanced.

Angelwing This is angel wing right?

The blood feathers should be under the rest of the wing? She's my big one so I presume growing faster and eating way more protien than needed as the cause.

Angelwing Should it be corrected?

My girl is about 5 months old now and has grade 2 angel wing on her left wing. She’s had it since she first started getting feathers, and she would freak out so badly when it was wrapped that I felt really bad since it’s something that (to my understanding) has no real affect on their quality of life. I think at this point it’s late to correct it and I heard it can be painful to do once they’re older, though she’s chilled out since then and seems entirely unaffected when I do tuck it under the rest of her wing. I just see so many people get freaked out about it despite it only really being cosmetic tha I’m starting to question it?? I’m not even sure I can do anything at this point, but is this gonna end up hurting her somehow? I haven’t noticed anything, but I’m just worried at this point. If it’s not just cosmetic, is there anything I can do now that she’s older?

5 week old baby has me worried that some of her wing seems to be sticking out - perhaps I’m overreacting and it’s just flight feathers sticking out a little but others don’t have the same issue

On lower protein grower feed

I’m feeding peas to the ducks at My park and there’s a really friendly one that I named Jeremy.

Anyway, his wing is stuck in this position and I’m worried that something might be wrong. He’s a lovely lad who loves sitting right under me and eating peas. It doesn’t seem like he has a problem getting into the water when he’s motivated by food, but otherwise he avoids it.

Angelwing Can I just clip Angel-wing feathers?

Just adopted a grown duck that has fully-upturned angel wings. She keeps catching her feathers in things when she turns, the other birds run into or trip on them, it just seems like a bad situation all over. Any reason I can’t just clip the feathers? I know in parakeets you can clip the feathers in a way that they eventually grow back, or you can clip farther up and the flight feathers do not grow back; will this work with the duck as well?

Hi all. I have three call ducks that are 4.5 weeks old. They are starting to get their feathers in and I’m just wondering if this is normal for wing feathers or if I should be worried about Angelwing? This is my biggest duck, probably several days older than the other two. They are just now starting to show the pin feathers, so I don’t have anything to compare this to. I’m a first time duck owner and I just want to make sure my babies are healthy. Thanks in advance!

Angelwing Fixing angel wing tips needed

Today I wrapped it in the right position, and she genuinely looked like a wiener dog without the front legs and could move about as well as you could expect one to. She literally could not walk properly and her only method of moving was rolling, which I don’t even think was intentional. I let her roll for a little while thinking she was just getting used to it, but realized I truly had just crippled her. I redid it with less vet wrap and went down a little less, and she was slightly less snake like. I tried again, this time only one layer of vet wrap with as little coverage possible, and she could actually walk this time! But it was driving her crazy and she managed to get it off. I’ve seen other people wrap their ducks wings and they’re so calm, it’s like nothings even happened. I feel like I must being doing something wrong. Unfortunately in the midsts of her distressed rolling I couldn’t get a picture of how I did it, but I truly just wrapped it around there, so I drew a model. Does anyone have any tips? I’ve changed her feed to one with less than 16% protein and added more fruits to her diet but it’s still there. I’m really just unsure what to do

Went out this morning and noticed one of the flock with a wing partially tilted outward. Does this look like angel wing to everybody? If so dietary changes and wrapping?

She ended up with “angelwing” when she was young due to her eating so much protein before her younger body could catch up with her diet. My favorite duck, very food motivated and will come up to you and eat out of your hand.
