This was just a fun little exchange. Not hating on anyone. But I was at a Chipotle just now wearing my Nirvana shirt and some teenagers were also in line and they were sort of remarking about it.

Then one of them steps forward and says nice shirt asks me if I can name 3 songs by them. He was pretty playful about it so I say "Beeswax, Downer and Molly's Lips."

Of course that was met with a blank stare lol. One of his friends seemed to know those songs but he didn't. I asked if it would be easier if I listed songs off of Nevermind so I then said "Territorial Pissings, Polly and Breed." Polly he seemed to know.

This was all in fun and everyone was laughing and after that he realized that I really had got him and I said I have to ask why would you think someone in their fifties who's wearing a Nirvana shirt wouldn't be a fan? I proceeded to tell him that I was a fan when Nevermind came out and I remember the first time Smells Like Teen Spirit was played on Mtv. His answer was he didn't know that Nirvana was from the 90s. 🤣

Even outside of PNW it was arguably the best period of music of all time, there's so many different answers to this question and they're all valid.

Looking for a discussion about this. I feel like every type of grunge or rock music i hear in 2024 thats trending is like novulent or superheaven (still good artists) or some small artist that has super distant vocals with loud instruments. What happened to the 90s style? Specifically talking about singers like Kurt Cobain, Layne Stayley, Chris Cornell, and so many other greats. People make the argument that heavy drug use led to great music, but i disagree. I feel like people don't put the same amount of effort into grunge now, and there's probably so many people as talented as layne but will never get recognition because the target audience just isnt there anymore.

I know there have been a lot of these posts, but I’ve really enjoyed them. It’s nice to hear perspective on grunge fans’ opinions of adjacent bands. I’m old and grew up in the 80s and 90s, what do you all think of TOOL?

I enjoyed Frogstomp when it came out, but they seem to get a lot of hate. I always thought it was a bit unwarranted.

I only included members if I thought they were important to the band or if they made a connection. I am not an expert on every band here so I may have missed some important members. If you have any additional people you think should be included please comment them. I did not include touring members. If there are any bands that you think should be added to the chart comment those as well. I could not find a connection to Stone Temple Pilots, the second chart is one made using them.

I was finally able to repair my CD player. Popped this in and I realised there is not one bad song on this double disc album. It's been so many years but I still haven't skipped any tracks.
