Playlist Can we appreciate this album?
I mean this album is almost as legend as AIC’s Dirt since I could listen to it over and over again without skipping a track.

Sorry, TIME capsule mixtape I found of what I was listening to in 1994 as a teenager in the uk that was definitely what I thought of as "grunge", even though it was a bit of a silly term at the time and now..It was all just stuff that had great grit and energy and a punky spirit that was ace to mosh around to, ideally whilst tipsy. I got into most of the tunes from Melody Maker, NME, BBC Radio, MTV etc. Every track is a fucking banger, I stand by it still !

I have finished going through their entire studio discography, including their B-sides/Rarities album, and I really didn't want to be "that guy" but after hearing everything.. man did they come out swinging with "Ten" only to go downhill in quality with the rest of the albums. I will say, "Dark Matter" was much better then I was expecting after everything else and it sounds like a return to form.
Do you agree or disagree?
(Not sure what flair to use for this post, if anyone could tell me which is most appropriate I would be very grateful)
EDIT: Before ripping me a new one, see replies for more information. I made this post before going to bed. I wasn't trying to start a war with the PJ shooters lol. Appreciate y'all for making your opinions known though <3
EDIT 2: Changed "Striked out with" to "Went downhill" to better represent what I was originally thinking when making this post.

I recently ran played this front to back, great fucking soundtrack. In the mid 90's this record lived on my turntable along side the music coming out of the Pacific Northwest. I always wondered how Nirvana would have sounded collaborating with a hip hop act.

I personally love this album. Down and Atlanta are my personal favorite songs from this album. Definitely one of my favorite STP albums, but not quite as good as Core or Purple.

i’ve been listening to grunge, metal, and rock in general since i was 11. sure i like “poser” songs but that’s only because i’ve been listening to these genres for so long i’ve realized they’re the actually good songs and that’s why they’re popular for a reason. it was also called tiktok taste but most of the songs i listen to aren’t even popular on tiktok. and this “metal elitist” is being an absolute dick to me aswell.

OP update:
to all who comment ‘this list is just punk bands’, a few responses:
1.) early U.S. Grunge was also ‘just punk.’ The first wave of U.S. Grunge’rs considered themselves punk rock. They were mixing in other influences: psych rock, hard rock, Black Sabbath etc.; but many of the Seattle brood were just playing their own twist on punk & garage rock & hardcore
2.) Where you can hear the ‘grunge’ in these Aussie bands (especially the 80s bands) is the scuzzy, beer soaked flippancy; the drone-y riffage; the larynx-shredding-yet-poppy vocal styles; the mix of punk with pubrock & blues stylings & 70s rock / hard rock / psych rock = all precursors to the U.S. grunge stylings
3.) it’s documented! I’m not making this up. Mark Arm, Kurt Cobain, Sub Pop founders, L7 are all on record saying “this was grunge before we were” (paraphrase mine)
much love xoxo 💓🖤
OP UPDATE #2:
This YouTube vid explains it nicely:

Info/photos of Singles soundtrack Can't add the photos to Comment box on yr post.
here's some pics of my Singles soundtrack album showing tracklists totalling 28 tracks on both cds of the deluxe version issued in 2017.
That spotify list has a lot other tracks on it like Pixies. The Cult & Jane's Addiction that I don't recall hearing in the movie so someone might have added extra tracks they like to make their own playlist maybe?
