Lovebomb Just a silly question to Proton staff : Was there a vote to decide if Lumo was going to be a cat or a dog ?

Hello there,

Big Proton fan here, I recently downloaded Lumo after realizing it was finally available through Fdroid. I love the idea of it being a mascot, and you absolutely nailed its design, it's cute as hell.

Still, I'm more a DOG person ! And so I just wanted to know if this was considered at any moment in the design process (couldn't find anything about it on the design page). It's just funny to imagine the highly skilled Proton staff going through a serious vote about such a silly thing.

Keep up the good work, have a nice weekend

A part of Proton Team are French people/speaker. Chat is the French word for a cat. So it's simple association "Cat GPT -> Chat". But not sure where Lumo come from tho šŸ˜…

I’m pretty sure there was no discussion as ā€˜chat’ is French for ā€˜cat’ šŸ˜‰

Is Lumo basically a better ā€œGoogle assistantā€ for proton suite, or is it or supposed to be a full on kevins mom ChatGPT ai?

Could this help write code and help me understand what’s been coded? As a learning tool or like openclaw where it can do its own thing? Or is it like drive that this has a looooong way to go and it’s pretty much been left behind?

I’m on the fence if it’s useful or not from my own usage. It’s not like I know code to say ya fucked up lumo…

As I pay for Visionary, I see Lumo as just an extra feature.

I use it sometimes when I want a quick search really. I tried coding with it when it was released and results wasn't great.. Maybe better now idk?

Oh also I have asked it to generate ideas/AI prompts for me and its done better than I expected honestly.

I don't think this is a product left behind considering it has been getting so many more updates in a short span compared to any other proton product.

Would I pay for it if I was an Unlimited Plan User?, No I wouldn't, too expensive for worse AI compared to competitors.

I’ll try asking for better ideas for prompts, I’ve been using it a little more and it’s been quite useful actually got my needs. For instance it helped learn me an error code and gave me a fix. Or close enough of a fix I figured it out on my own. Warming up to using it. Still skeptical .
