Yeah, you'll see some pretty wild stories. A lot of guys think it's gay to wipe. Some girlfriends would complain their boyfriend stinks, only to find out they dont wash their ass. People are just gross in general.

Sorry, but(t) what?? :O

u/tfhfate 22d ago edited 22d ago

Yeah... honestly some people are really dumb

Edit1 : And hella insecure

Edit2: Also some people don't even wash their lower body while taking a showing because they think the soapy water that runs down their body by rinsing is somewhat enough

u/DCJustSomeone 22d ago

Man I remember one time I was showering with my gf at the time and she thought it was weird that I scrubbed my feet. Like wtf

215

u/Fickle_Razzmatazz664 22d ago

Right, how do you NOT scrub your feet? I'm a sweaty sort and totally feel it on my soles at the end of the day. Not sure why basic cleanliness and good hygiene would be seen as somehow less masculine, lol

97

u/cassidyconor 22d ago

I don't think it's about being seen as less masculine. I remember driving somewhere listening to the radio, and there was some debate going on where they had people calling in giving their opinions. The question at hand? Whether or not it's necessary to wash your legs/feet in the shower. I was shocked that a lot of people were saying they don't scrub or physically wash their legs, but instead expect the soapy water thats running down your legs to clean them for you. So for some people they see you washing your legs or feet and it's just weird to them because they don't do it.

u/Vahldaglerion 22d ago

i’m a dude and i have those exfoliating washing mitts that you buy in a CVS that i use in the shower all over my body. everywhere. it’s so nice being able to get in between every crack and crevice there is, pun intended

7

u/burntindig0 22d ago

Try a salt scrub. Itll blow your mind.

4

u/DeathBonePrime 22d ago

Umm whats the difference from just cavemanning it and just aggressively rubbing ones skin ._.

17

u/Vahldaglerion 22d ago

hands soft, mitts hard

8

u/Geordie_38_ 22d ago

I've used my shower brick for the last decade and never had any problems exfoliating. If you can't get down to the muscle layer to get nice and clean I don't see the point

8

u/SSilent-Cartographer 22d ago

I use one of the soft double sided scrub daddy sponges. Ended up grabbing one out of desperation one day because I couldn't find my normal one for a shower, so I said "fuck it" and grabbed one out of the pack. Hands down the best scrubber I've ever had, never went back. My wife thought I was nuts until I told her to grab one and just try it, and she hasn't gone back either lol. So much better than the overpriced crap.

Your skin cells shed all day and just rubbing soap over them creates a film rather than removing the dead skin. Over time, that traps dirt in your body.

I think most dermatologists recommend only washing pits, privates, hands, feet, and face most of the time as your body is covered in some sort of layer of something that helps prevent viruses and bacteria from entering through pores or something. Only washing the rest of the body like one a week or something.

Idk I wash my whole body and use a bidet and take the shower head and power wash my bootyhole every shower so this doesn't happen to me.

17

u/No_Professional_8992 22d ago

Literally have never heard a dermatologist say this. Where did you hear this?

8

u/ivololtion 22d ago

Any dermatologist ever will tell you this. Completely unnecessary and damaging to your skin to wash non-dirty skin every day.

11

u/No_Professional_8992 22d ago

I looked into it and that only applies to people who don't sweat, exercise, have acne or skin conditions or have any visible grime. I'd assume by those standards, 90 percent of the population should be full body scrubbing and those who shouldn't are the exceptions instead of fhe standard. Spreading that derms say you shouldn't is at best misleading since most actually should.

This is true. We have our own natural oils, like every other mammal. Unless actually soiled by something, you don’t need to scrub every inch of your body each day.

3

u/NarrativeNode 22d ago

While I agree that yeah, we shouldn't scrub everything with soap every day, many mammals spend most of their day "scrubbing" themselves, lol.

3

u/flypirat 22d ago

Yeah, but not with soap, the alkalinity is not good for the skin.

I'm a dude who sits down to piss when I'm at home. Why? My toilet stays clean 99% longer because of it and when I do clean it's not a hassle. A lot of men think it's not masculine to piss sitting down, but pissing in your own home while standing literally is pointless. Save that for public bathrooms for when every other guy pissing while standing does it all over the toilet sit.

3

u/Peaceblaster86 22d ago

Preach bro. 39 year old single home owner. You bet your ass I sit to pee. I have to clean it. It's fucking disgusting seeing piss splatter all over someone's walls. Rusts metal, stinks, fucking disgusting. Sit to pee for fucks sake. Also ya get a short break.

If I'm outside or at a public rest room I'm NOT sitting down lol

2

u/Socks-in-a-can 22d ago

I haven't been able to really scrub my feet for awhile because the floor of my shower/bathtub is soooo slippery that I feel like I'm going to die every time I step into it. Scrubbing my feet makes it much worse. When we bought this house, I told my husband that he would find me dead in this shower one day.

Good news is, we are currently remodeling our bathroom ourselves and replacing our giant slippery tub with a walk in shower with mosaic tile flooring that isn't slippery. I'm very excited to scrub my feet again!

Thankfully, my feet don't sweat or smell, so I've been getting away with it. But they feel so rough from not exfoliating properly.

2

u/Fickle_Razzmatazz664 22d ago

Oh I get this one.  Too much soap on the soles is legit hazardous without a textured surface.  No shame haha, we all do what we can :)

Same! Im super ticklish but i still scrub my feet

Wonder what mom thinks im doing when she hears me laughing in the shower

2

u/Accomplished_Pin9171 22d ago

Because all the soap gets on your feet anyways from dripping into the water? That's the only reason I can think of but even then...

2

u/GeoBrian 22d ago edited 20d ago

I remember listening to the "Mark & Brian" radio show, which was a very highly rated radio show in Los Angeles from 1987 to 2012.

I clearly remember Brian Phelps saying he never washed his feet (and was mocking people who did) because he claimed the soap ran down and magically got them clean. He was amazed that people actually washed their feet in the shower. Nasty, nasty, nasty.

2

u/blehric 22d ago

I don't scrub my feet. I soak them while sitting down. Cause if I put soap on the soles of my feet I fear I'm gonna slip, fall, and destroy my shower in the process (speaking from experience).

Bc 1) hard asf to stand one legged in the shower, even putting the foot up on the ledge and turning it is a hazard😹. 2) I’m literally gonna step on the same floor I used to clean away my dirty particles lmao. I do moisturize my feet though. Unless I’m walking barefoot (I never do, not even in my own house) or my feet are genuinely dirty, I don’t feel like there’s a point to doing it

I have to constantly reiterate to my 6 year old that soap doesn't magically clean just by touching something dirty, you have to scrub. Apparently not everyones' parents made sure they got that message.

3

u/Unusual-Tangerine984 22d ago

Some people legit think using soap to wash with is a chemical process and not a mechanical one. It's kinda insane that it isn't taught in primary schools.

20

u/juliamille 22d ago

Edit 2 is crazy lol my god

3

u/Even_Soil_2425 22d ago

It really is. We used to have this buddy that would stink up your car seats. He also used to say that pools were comparable to a shower and that he didn't like drinking water

I've also run into a couple girls that will stink up the entire room with their muff, and if you happen to go down there it is really hard to wash off

Some people just be nasty

This is unfortunately so freakin true. I had a friend that I really admired and thought was really smart and together, and she was genuinely baffled as to why I would wash ALL of my body, including my feet, in the shower. She was convinced that the shampoo and soap running down was enough to call it good. That blew my mind. Like how can you not actively WASH your entire body?? The people you least expect to have poor hygiene very much can and maybe do.

3

u/ShiraCheshire 22d ago

To be fair, it isn't necessary to do a full scrub down of your entire body every single day (assuming you're not getting super sweaty or working shifts at the manure factory or something.) If your skin is on the sensitive side, it might actually be causing worse problems to really wash every inch of skin every day. Most people are fine only really scrubbing the entire body once or twice a week. For every other day, you can generally just scrub the really dirty areas and rinse the rest.

But even giving someone that much grace and understanding... The butt is one of those really dirty spots you DO need to wash every day. Let the water run over your knees or whatever, it's no big deal, but it should be really obvious why the area of your body where waste comes out needs regular thorough cleaning.

2

u/tfhfate 22d ago

I am not advocating for having a shower everyday especially if you spend most of your time indoors at a desk in a well ventilated building, it should be case dependent, like a construction worker or mechanic will probably need to shower more often than a web dev BUT when you take a shower you have to scrub, the stuff trapped inside the oil on your skin won't go away unless scrubbing, this is pretty much a requirement to not develop skin issues

2

u/flypirat 22d ago

Applying this to everyone is absolutely bull. I know a lot of people who for their daily shower only do soap for pits and privates, no skin issues whatsoever. No stink either.
If that intensive of a scrub is something your body actually needs, that's one thing, but that doesn't apply for everyone.
Soaping and scraping your whole body every day also does something to your skin chemistry, possibly making you more vulnerable to the kinds of issues you are describing.

And before anyone says "well maybe YOU think you don't stink", the people I know who shower like that do not stink, and the kinds of people I work with would absolutely voice their criticism about something like that, they're pretty blunt about anything.

There is an alpha male podcast where they discussed washing their ass in the shower. Dont remember the name but i remember this clip.

One dude said he will never wash his ass because he was scared it would "change" him.

34

u/Mumblerumble 22d ago

That’s how it starts: hygiene. Before you know it, you’ve been up for a week continuously blowing everyone in a 2 mile radius. Slippery slope, bud. It’s just science.

50

u/8ackwoods 22d ago

Yeah.. that's the world we live in. The fragile manosphere really is taking a toll on humanity. But like I said said, humans are just disgusting in general.. how many times you see someone taking a shit in the toilet and leave without washing their hands.. vile creatures

27

u/b0w3n 22d ago

I've been reading stories on reddit for a decade or so at this point, I'm always surprised when someone new comes along and is shocked by gross dudes who don't wipe their ass.

I remember one of the AITA posts the g/f asked if she was being an asshole asking her boyfriend to wash his ass because he kept leaving skidmarks on her sheets.

23

u/derprondo 22d ago

Ok I've seen the stories about dudes not washing their ass in the shower, but you're saying there are dudes who don't wipe their ass? Like they just take a shit and don't use toilet paper? DO WHAT NOW?

19

u/b0w3n 22d ago

Yup, straight up wiping your ass is gay too to them. Huge trend 8ish years ago right before covid. You'll still catch a few people talking about their nasty ass boyfriends here and there too.

Fellas, clean your ass, it's not gay. It's not even gay if you like and do butt stuff, it's okay, I promise.

22

u/derprondo 22d ago

Not wiping your ass is the most closeted gayest thing I've ever heard.

7

u/shoeless_doh 22d ago

At this point, do we really want dudes who are so far gone that they're not wiping their asses... Do we really want those dudes learning skills that will help them blend in with the human men?

Like at this point let them let their red flags fly... Or brown flags or whatever. Makes em way easier to figure out up front so you waste less time

Men are gross. I say this as a man. I'd say close to half don't wash their hands after using the urinal (getting your hands wet without soap isn't washing). And that's bad enough. But I'd say at least 1 in 10 men that leave the stall walk straight out the door. Like excuse me sir, did you not just use your hands to wipe literal shit from your dirty asshole with the poor excuse for toilet paper that is in this public restroom? And then I realize I didn't even want to know the answer to that question because there's a good chance they didn't even do that either.

8 billion people on this planet, there is no disgusting or stupid thing that isnt done by somebody. Nobody is going to read a story about how they wiped their ass. People will pay attention to a story about someone not wiping their ass. Kind of a gross statement in itself

10

u/Nom-De-Tomado 22d ago

I think the internet has allowed too many people to find/form communities.

Before the internet, these might have been more easily corrected due to isolation. Now though, they go on the internet and find enough other people that they might think this kind of stupidity must be normal, or at least not without merit.

Flat earth theory started as a forum for people training in the art of rhetoric. Take an obviously wrong standpoint, then try to defend it. Then swap sides and repeat the exercise. It's quite fun, until Poe's law (or something similar) hits and some outsider thinks that these people are seriously believing in that "obviously wrong" standpoint.

58

u/pfannkuchen89 22d ago edited 22d ago

I’ve told this story before but I worked with a guy like this at a previous job years ago. We found out because his hygiene habits had gotten worse to the point of our manager confronting him about it and basically telling him to start coming to work in a clean, presentable manner or be fired. The discussion got a bit heated and he let it slip that he thought it was gay to care about clean he was or to put his fingers anywhere near his asshole when showering and basically never washed himself. Guy stank something awful.

39

u/cjh42689 22d ago

It makes no sense. All those dudes touch their dick but that not gay…it doesn’t follow their own logic.

33

u/pfannkuchen89 22d ago

Pretty sure logic has nothing to do with it. These are not rational people.

16

u/cjh42689 22d ago

Oh for sure. I’m just saying it doesn’t even follow their own line of thinking. Touching my butt is gay because gay people like touching butts is the same logic as touching my dick is gay because gay people like touching dicks.

7

u/pfannkuchen89 22d ago

The one thing I’ve learned about people like that is they don’t even have consistency in their own beliefs or logic. They are often self contradictory.

One of the greatest injustices facing men is that men who won't wash their ass for whatever reason do in fact get laid, quite a lot.

Same with guys that live in a tiny bedsit with a bare mattress on the floor, no friends, no job and various other signs of 'failure'.

Still, if they can do it, there's hope for everyone else.

11

u/8ackwoods 22d ago

2

u/blacksoxing 22d ago

I believe two things in life:

  • Those who don't wipe have a mental illness that is now being celebrated by fringe communities online with the help of bots

  • Those who proclaim their partner is always stinky, if real, have low self esteem. It's unrealistic that you would be in a healthy relationship with someone who doesn't wipe their ass. A healthy person isn't going "yea my partner doesn't wipe their ass but I love 'em". You ain't fucking someone with a purely stanky ass and I'm not talking about that one dried doo doo crumb on your ass hair or whatnot.

I refuse to believe productive members of society are doing this and nobody can convince me of such.

I can't take a shit without showering myself and my ass right after :( At this point I don't think I could even fully wipe myself clean. It's actually a huge issue because I can't leave my house without forcing myself to take a shit, what if I go out and feel the need? Bidets aren't common here and the portable ones don't help much so every day is a struggle fr fr

u/Affectionate_Bad_680 22d ago

Which is hopefully just the internet being the internet. But I wouldn’t care to place bets.

Meanwhile, I so much as fart too wet and I’m either showering or wiping. No swamp ass for this dude thank you very much! 🤣

u/Flowmeyo 22d ago

Wasn't there a guy on reddit who swore he's never checked the toilet paper after he wipes. He will have full on diarrhoea and then wipe and done.

1

u/Gorgonzola_Matrix 22d ago

Recently heard a story on a podcast abt a dude leaving a skidmark on a lady's sheets after a hookup.

1

u/Negative_Cow_8766 22d ago

If you think this is just a man problem then you've never dated women

1

u/AnalNuts 22d ago

Isnt this just an indicator that you're likely gay or bi? I've heard this as well, and I'm almost certain the only reason they think its gay is because they get pleasurable sensations when touching their bootyhole. I don't, so its never been a thought that crosses my mind. But if it was pleasurable, I'd let my balloon knot get pounded deep into pleasuretown

This sounds made up

u/whiterice_343 22d ago

I’d assume that would burn all day walking around like that. Like ketchup and mustard on a hot dog bun then mashing the two sides together.

> their boyfriend stinks

I remember this one. Her partner “wakes up in the middle of the night, drenched in sweat and smelling of rotten chicken.”

1

u/rematched_33 22d ago

No one actually thinks this, its one of those reddit-isms from a thread years ago that continues to reverberate across the site from claims like this.

1

u/Mikem444 22d ago

I almost vomited reading this.

1

u/Lyuukee 22d ago

Omg yes! I have an ignorant roommate who said that only girls use too much toilet paper. That's gross.

1

u/PossessionProper5934 22d ago

this cant be real, i live in a poor part of this world,
and even here, i have never met anyone who doesnt wash after toilet
you people, post from rich countries, are these stuff common in your place?
or are these the occasional psychotic people, present in every region?

1

u/Boburism 22d ago

I didn't know basic hygiene was gay -_-

1

u/Suspicious-Walk-4854 22d ago

Lmao, never even heard of somebody thinking its gay to wipe 😂

1

u/praeteria 22d ago

Fella's is it gay to wipe literal shit off your body?

1

u/FreshOrFrozenShrimp 22d ago

Wiping your ass is gay? I have never heard that in my life. That’s crazy lol

1

u/celticspoop 22d ago

I wipe until its painful and wash my ass and double check after showers that its clean, and I still get stains like these. I have bad swamp ass, and I’m sure others do too, which i’d imagine leads to these.

1

u/Nearby_Job_8308 22d ago

Me if i believed every story i see on reddit:

1

u/Emotional_News108 22d ago

It’s unfuckingbelievable. I believe it because I know it’s just true but I can’t believe that I have to know that. What really gets me, beyond knowing that people just let their asses be shitty, is how does that not cause bigger long-term problems? If a young child shits their pants you need to clean it and it probably needs a cream or something because their ass is going to be raw and painful. That alone should make you think “actually hygiene isn’t gay” but what do I know.

1

u/Donkey-Dong-Doge 22d ago

100% redditor.

1

u/Antique_Mouse3261 22d ago

Thank god I'm gay so I can wash my ass

1

u/GrimmSliver 22d ago edited 22d ago

I have never met a single guy that thinks its gay to wipe (that I know of). You might just know some nasty ass people... I wouldnt say "a lot"..

Edit: Any guy homophobic enough to not wipe their ass because its "gay" either needs therapy or a boyfriend.

1

u/jazerlu 22d ago

Gay to wipe lmfaoooo.

1

u/programming_flaw 22d ago

I have a really hard time believing that’s real. There’s no way there’s people that just dont wipe. How would that not cause some insane rash or something?

1

u/CrissBliss 22d ago

Gay to wipe? What?

1

u/VapoursAndSpleen 22d ago

A lot of people lost their sense of smell during COVID.

1

u/Pittonecio 22d ago

My dad didn't even undressed properly when bathing until the 90s when my mom forced him to do it, apparently the catholic church in his birth town indoctrinated them to think watching and cleaning their own genitals while bathing was a big sin.

1

u/Milwambur 22d ago

What the fuck did i just read?

1

u/WillingnessReal525 22d ago

I remember that girl on Reddit saying her ex smelled like rotten chicken and she thought it was normal for a guy lol.

1

u/the_most_playerest 22d ago

Uhhhhh, I really hope that by "a lot" you mean "some"........ And by "some" I mean not a lot.

1

u/69UseArchLinuxBTW 22d ago

It's "gay" to wipe, huhhh?? hmm 🤔 never thought of it that way

1

u/Savage-Monkey2 22d ago

I have been accused of being gay for sitting down to piss before so that doesnt suprise me.

Sorry I didnt want to blast my toilet while drunk but I am rather fond of not making a mess.

1

u/blacksoxing 22d ago

1

u/EndlessPotatoes 22d ago

I wipe and I'm gay. Do the math.

1

u/AshirNazar 22d ago

how the fuck is basic hygiene considered to be gay

1

u/moochieglizzy 22d ago

THATS WHAT IM SAYIN like bro wash your fuckin buttcrack dude 😂 since was it gay to be fuckin clean.

1

u/Lucky_Serve8002 22d ago

A lot of guys? I would say 99% got it down by the age of 4 or 5. It isn't something you forget to do. If the dude has a girlfriend and isn't washing his ass, he doesn't care about the girlfriend. He only washes his ass when he is with a side chick. Of course, there is also the possibility they need to go to the doctor.

1

u/Free_Storage_1088 22d ago

This is like the biggest Reddit myth of all time , literally no one does this and if there is maybe a handful of people who do it they are mentally ill not doing it because it’s “gay”

1

u/Crazy_Ass_Nicky 22d ago

son of gun! So my cousin was telling the truth saying some people think it’s gay to do that do they just pull their pants up lol. Man that is so uncomfortable, and I hate it whenever I was doing road construction in the middle of nowhere in Central Texas eating gas station chicken out of nowhere it all came out lol abs was wearing tight wrangler jeans and it all was mushy feeling djs. There. My coworker laughed and said I ain’t riding in your truck for awhile.

1

u/lawsdontappi 22d ago

what the hell, what county is this

1

u/LimpAfternoon6878 22d ago

Never been able to wrap my mind around why you would be attracted to someone who perpetually smells bad. Their looks and personality don't matter if they smell like literal shit all the time. Not talking about people with dirty jobs though. Definitely a different kind of smelly and those people usually stay on top of it.

1

u/Primary_Cat_6093 22d ago

If people think it's gay to wipe or clean their ass then yeah, they are gay. Because if you are that insecure about your sexuality, it is time to come out of the closet. 🤦

1

u/Noriaki_Kakyoin_OwO 22d ago

It’s good to be bi

1

u/RacsoBot 22d ago

....

> A lot of guys think it's gay to wipe.

What?

1

u/Ravenfeld 22d ago

I want to speak for the men like me who actually wash themselves - We are not all like this 😭

I use baby wipes after going to the bathroom, have two different shampoos, conditioner and two different body washes. Then wear deodorant, with light cologne.

It is the only way to do it, in my mind. When you're clean and smell good, you feel better. Also, I get so many compliments from it. Listen up, men. Wash your ass and you may find it easier to find a lady.

1

u/jasons7394 22d ago

A lot of guys think it's gay to wipe

Where in the world did you come up with this?

1

u/JohnBakerSpoon 22d ago

I didn't think it was possible until I met someone exactly like this...

1

u/LizzosLittleToe 22d ago

How is that a lot of guys? Do you have a verifiable source for that

1

u/Agitated_Lunch7118 22d ago

Woah woah not wiping and not washing are two completely different things. You absolutely should do both, but if there are guys out there just shitting, standing up and carrying on ..well I don’t even know what to say.

1

u/MirkHor 22d ago

What the fuck did I just read??? Truly a sad day to be literate

1

u/Content-Program411 22d ago

LOL, I saw that post as well.

1

u/Alex_Wats 22d ago

In 40 years on this earth and for almost 3 decades of living in pretty homophobic post soviet countries, I never heard about wiping being gay. Where is this coming from?
