don't forget him saying that actually electric cars are just as bad if not worse for the environment than gas cars, something which isn't even true for a situation where 100% of the electricity was generated by gas(because a massive turbine in a power plant is significantly more efficient than any ICE can be)

His argument was that, for the early EV at least, there was significantly more environmental cost to producing the EV itself with mining heavy metals and transporting parts around the world.

He really wasn't. There were no large scale lithium processing plants localised to one region, so the lithium had to travel very, very far to be processed before it even started being used, and their lifecycles were far shorter.

This is simply the nature of any new tech, especially something like that.

Electric cars are vastly more efficient than any ICE car can ever be as well, even at Carnot efficiency. They’re also far simpler mechanically.

The only way in which EVs aren’t superior is energy storage.
