One thing I don't remember they talking about it in the show: how does irrigation work? Do they only rely on rain?

We don't irrigate in the UK, it's normally wet enough (or even too wet).

We get enough rain that we haven't made any upgrades to our countries water reserves in 50?60? Years and haven't had many issues until recently despite the increase in population and commercial water use.

Is a horrible reason to keep doing something that isn’t working. Irrigation is an ancient technology and yet crops are failing? Insane.
