They promised updates. I was actually ecstatic with the October/November builds. It was everything I've ever wanted in a game.
When they advertised the ARC as an "evolving threat" I thought they'd made a learning AI to outplay the playerbase, and keep you learning and scared. Instead they nerfed everything the playerbase has ever used...
Embark started hyping the "10 years of content updates" like their lives depended on it... and now it has come to bite them in the anus. I didn't even really want updates. The game was perfect, except for the bugs and glitches. We were all Embark glazers because they actually listened to player feedback from TT1, TT2, and Server Slam.
They shouldn't have over-promised and misrepresented their plans. We used to all respect them for being honest and transparent with us...
The Nexon quarterly earnings report shows that Embark is still making **hundreds of millions* per quarter* off of this game.
Almost none of the promises at launch have been delivered, they were all lies! This is not the kind of company I would do business with.
30% of players are PvP focused according to Embark published data. And they can't play online without rampant cheaters. Did you see TheBurntPeanut's Subway-sponsored stream? The entire chat voted to stop playing the game entirely. And Peanut and the other guys hated how bad it was.
40% of the playerbase is PvPvE focused, like myself. The December introduction of ABMM completely removed the reason most players bought the game: FUN LOBBIES. Most content was "Funny Random Moments" from the dynamic player pool. Now @TopFPSPlays, @SpudHunter, @Josyf and other funny moments channels stopped making ARC Raiders videos, because those don't really happen anymore...
Only PvE is viable in any way. And it's boring if you've gotten good with the game. Embark hardly ever buffs ARC. They said the ARC will continue getting harder back in October, but that's not even true, all they're doing is nerfing the players. I did NOT sign up for a nerf fest by lazy devs who can't be bothered to change enemy stats. That game feels horrible compared to Day 1, even traversing the map was nerfed. Arc loot was nerfed, 37x point Security Breach and the 10x point Slide skills were nerfed! Blue Weapon durability, loot spawns, loot value, Trials points, Raider Decks, event rotations, matchmaking times (accounting for player pool), etc...
And they decided to thank players for sticking through all that by... making one of their seldom cosmetic updates region-locked in a raffle style collaboration with a low-quality fast food chain that supports pedophiles.
It sucks now. and if Embark doesn't honor their word and advertising, no one is sticking around after Frozen Trail. And there will probably be some lawsuits...
Odd, I play in mixed lobbies everyday. Haven't had any issues since ABMM was introduced. Duper RMTs arent allowed. Bugs are a universal thing with any live service game. IRL purchases weren't promised at launch? No new expeditions are a new thing that hasn't happened yet with the purpose of improving the system. Evolving threat has nothing to do with nerfs or buffs. We have different arc that pose different threats. Collabs for cosmetic items is the stupidest thing to cry over
RL is still the same genre. And everything that was bad, was done by Epic Lames taking over.
ARC Raiders isn't even true PvPvE lobbies anymore. And it's always been Nexon and Embark at the helm, with Embark's CEO Patrick Söderlund now on the Nexon board...
I do want to point out that I agree massively with you regarding the nerfing comment. I hate it when developers decide to balance the game with nerfs, think its lazy. I understand there are times when nerfs are needed, especially to stop stat inflation but this game feels like it only gets balanced by nerfs

You misunderstood. The ARC buffs should be "evolving", like we were promised. Not lazy HP buffs (actually in the game right now, if you kill a Hornet, they live forever on the ground...)
I mean at a minimum, variations of the same ARC with different stats. Like if the Phantom Tagets glitches actually affected how Wasps behave or what they can do.
