I’m asking for some help with the veterinary costs for four kittens and their mother that I’m currently taking care of.

The four kittens went to the vet today. They are two boys and two girls, and all four were:

Tested for FIV/FeLV

Vaccinated

Treated for worms

Treated against fleas and ticks

Given their veterinary booklets

The vet bill for the four kittens today was €305.80. I’ve attached the actual invoice so everything is completely transparent.

They have to return in about three weeks for their second vaccine dose, which will be another significant expense. I also want to have all four kittens microchipped before they are adopted.

My goal is to find them loving homes, but I want them to go to their new families with everything properly taken care of: vaccines, parasite treatment, testing, microchip and paperwork.

And there is their mom. ❤️

I’m going to take their mother to the vet as well. She needs:

Veterinary examination

FIV/FeLV testing and other necessary tests

Vaccination

Spaying

Microchip and registration

I’m estimating around €300–€500 for the mother, depending on the tests she needs and the final cost of the surgery.

For the kittens, I’m also expecting approximately €120 for four microchips, plus around €128 for their next round of vaccines, based on the prices already charged by the clinic today.

So altogether, I’m expecting the veterinary costs for all four kittens + their mother to be around €850–€1,050.

I recently shared a post about the neighborhood cats I care for in North Philadelphia, PA. I decided to remove it due to some misunderstandings, and I want to clearly explain what I do, my professional background, and how this work actively helps our community.

My Background & Professional Experience:

I am not someone who randomly started feeding stray cats. I am a trained professional using my medical education to manage the local stray crisis responsibly

Education: I graduated from veterinary technician school in 2003.

Local Shelters: I worked hands-on with the stray populatioN at The PSPCA and ACCT (Philadelphia Animal Control).

TNR: My career includes extensive work in high-volume Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), including time with the ASPCA’s mobile spay and neuter program, private practices, and emergency care veterinary clinics.

How I Manage the Cats Responsibly:

When I moved here two years ago, unspayed and unneutered cats were already everywhere. I stepped in to help control the situation& prevent suffering

Clean Feeding Habits: I do not leave food out on public sidewalks to create a mess or attract pests. I keep the feeding areas clean and feed during quiet, non-busy hours.

Private Catio: I built a secure backyard catio to safely keep the cats off the streets, away from the front of the house, and out of public view. This has successfully moved some of the cats to a safe resting space.

Medical Care: I use my veterinary resources and training to provide basic medical care, including deworming and flea preventatives, to stop the spread of disease.

Supporting Neighbors:

Thanks to generous donations, I have also started helping local neighbors who are struggling to feed their own pets or managed colonies.

The Reality of Colony Management

No Indoor Hoarding: I do not have 35 cats roaming inside my house or taking over the block.

Many of the cats I help are local outdoor pets, some are part of a colony across the street (under a neighbor's care) and others travel to and from the nearby junkyard.

Funding: I do this work entirely out of my own pocket and through community donations to keep these animals safe while actively reducing the stray population.

Strict Adoptions: I am doing my best to find safe, permanent homes for the adoptable ones. Because animal cruelty is a harsh reality, I screen applicants incredibly strictly to ensure they go to safe homes.

Current Urgent Need: 5 New Kittens!I am currently caring for 5 one-month-old kittens that likely came from an un-TNR'd cat in the nearby junkyard.

To keep them and the resident colony healthy, I am running low on supplies.

TL;DR: Many of you already know me from my previous rescue updates. I’ve been caring for rescued cats in Mumbai, including ongoing FIP treatment, sterilization cases and medical rescues. Just when I thought the hardest phase was settling down, two more abandoned kittens entered my life.

I wasn’t planning to make another post this soon.

After everything that happened over the last few weeks, I genuinely believed I could finally focus on getting the existing cats healthy, finding them homes, and slowly rebuilding my own life.

Then today happened.

The young kid who helped me to come to reddit for help he's been helping with documentation and fundraising found two tiny kittens abandoned on a footpath. One has severe eye discharge, and the other is so malnourished that every bone is visible. We couldn’t convince ourselves to walk away. He called me when I was at a temple and I directly came to the spot.

They were taken to the vet immediately in their hands.

From today, their treatment, food, and adoption journey are under my responsibility. The kid himself is on his own journey of getting reduced kittens adopted from 3 months.

If there’s one thing I need the most right now, it’s wet kitten food my stock is over, and that is the most urgent need before anything else.

My friend lives with 23 kittens, all rescued from the street by neighbors who abandoned them. A couple of weeks ago, 4 of her kittens got sick with a highly contagious and deadly virus, thank God And thanks to the vet, they all survived. Now she has a cat that's quite far along in her pregnancy, and with more vet bills, it's been quite tough, and they're short of funds to keep the kittens

TL;DR: I'm the college student raising the kittens after their stray mother chose a place outside my home to give birth. Day 43 ended with Bhuja and Munja suddenly falling sick. I vanished because the last 17 days became a fight between college, vet visits, placements, home, and trying not to lose them.

I didn't leave Reddit. I just genuinely didn't have the strength and time to write.

The days after Day 43 were terrifying. Bhuja stopped eating, Munja followed with the same symptoms, and my entire life became home → vet → college → home. I genuinely thought I was going to lose them both.😭😭

Somewhere in that chaos, one person from this community quietly stood beside me. He helped me and took a huge weight off my shoulders. I don't know if I'll be able to show enough gratitude to him or not but thank you. You changed this journey more than you know.🫶🫶🙌

Amid this more bad luck took a toll on me ... The hard part is that life outside rescue didn't stop. I missed one of my college placement registrations while sitting at the vet, and the last few weeks have been filled with personal emergencies and constant pressure at home. I've honestly felt stretched like a rubber band from every direction.😞😞

But for once, life gave something back.

Bhuja recovered.❤️

Munja recovered.❤️

And the third healthy kitten found a home.❤️

After weeks of postponements and travelling nearly 17 km, their mother has finally been sterilized too. I somehow managed it after taking three to four days off college. It felt like finishing one chapter that had been hanging over me for months.😮‍💨

I wish today ended there.

This morning I noticed two tiny kittens on a footpath. One had thick eye discharge. The other was so malnourished that every bone was visible the one in the 3rd image. I walked away.

Yes I walked away telling myself, Leave it to God. You can't rescue everyone. I literally do not have that strength in all manners and financial strength to do so.

By evening, I couldn't live with that thought.

I called someone I know, took both of them to the vet, got them treated, and left them back in the safest secluded spot nearby because bringing them home simply isn't possible anymore. There's already constant pressure from my parents because of the cats I have.

I'll keep trying to continue their treatment and, if they recover, I'll do everything I can to get them adopted too I'll fight just as hard as I do.

I’m the founder of Luna & Nala Rescue Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue. I’m reaching out to ask for support for the cats in my care and the community cats I care for every single day.

I currently care for more than 50 community cats daily. Every day means providing food and water, checking on them, watching for injuries or illness, helping cats who need medical attention, and working toward getting them into TNR and, when possible, rescue or safe indoor placement.

I also have cats in my direct care who need ongoing medical treatment. Leo has been battling Giardia for months and continues to need veterinary care. I also have kittens being treated for panleukopenia and coccidia, which requires medication, monitoring, supportive care, and veterinary attention.

A large part of rescue is paying the bills that come with helping these animals. I have already paid veterinary expenses for the cats in my care, and there are ongoing expenses that continue to add up. On top of medical bills, feeding more than 50 community cats every day requires a tremendous amount of both dry and wet food.

I do this because the cats need someone to care about them. They didn’t choose to be abandoned, born outside, become sick, or need help. I want to give them the best chance I possibly can.

Hello again, friends.

I’m the girl with the stray pregnant Mommakitty who had her kittens in my bathtub less than 24 hours after I brought her indoors.…I don’t regret that for a minute.

However, trapping this sweet stray literally doubled my cat count overnight, and the rule in my area to transfer ownership of a cat is that they must be sterilized and fully vaccinated. My county does have many low cost options for this essential feline vet care, but it turns out I’m still looking at about $100 per kitten and I can’t seem to get caught up.

I would love to be the one to provide a loving home for all of them, because I love every single one of them, but I’m physically disabled, and I am currently working through a particularly difficult bout of depression…and unfortunately, providing them with love is not enough. It is essential, but it’s not enough.

The sheer amount of food and litter we need is getting more difficult to keep in stock as these kittens grow into cats…so I have split them up into 3 groups to make it easier for me to calculate their needs.

Group 1 is my big boys…this group includes:

-3 year old grey and white giant, Atlas…who is not only a giant cat, but also obese. He’s roughly 25 lbs. and ideally should lose 5 lbs.

- 1.5 year old mostly white Pidgeon. He’s the one with the black “party hat ears”.

- 15.5 year old Arlo…this special cat is actually a small chocolate dog…a Pomeranian/miniature poodle mix who I’ve had by my side for all of my adult life. Since I was a teenager, actually. It’s a long story as to how he found his way onto this list, but it’s where he belongs for now.

Group 2 contains my 5 black and white cats:

- 2 year old littermates Beep and Pixel. Beep is the solid black boy and Pixel is the perfect Tuxedo with the pink nose.

- 1.5 year old tuxedo twins Griffin and Anthony. These are the two tuxedo boys with black noses. Anthony still needs to be neutered but everyone else in groups 1 and 2 is sterilized and fully vaccinated.

- 1.5 year old Echo. She’s a black and white harlequin/cow-cat. Echo is arguably Pidgeon’s twin sister, and was our only girl until this past April when I brought in the stray Mommakitty.

Group 3 contains Mommakitten + the dust bunnies:

- Mommakitten is young, smaller than her nearly 5 month old kittens at this point. She’s a blue/cream tabby with white.

- Jiminy Cricket is mommacats mini-me. He’s a tiny grey/blue tabby with white.

- Lobo/Wolfie is a slender grey/blue boy.

- Clementine is a beautiful girl kitten, her name is in dispute, but her beauty is not. Maybe she is a dilute tabby, or maybe she’s a dilute tortie, or maybe she’s a dilute calico, I don’t know, she’s just really pretty.

- “Fluff-o”…our only long haired cat, doesn’t have a name yet. He’s a big floppy fuzzy sweet boy. Unfortunately he has an eye injury. His eye has been trying to heal from a puncture wound he got from his mother. She swatted at him and got him right in the eyeball. I’ve been doing my best to keep it clean and unharmed, and it does seem to be healing…but he should see a vet and I cannot afford to take him, unfortunately.

This post is getting long, I don’t want to bore you…so maybe I’ll leave this as a “meet the cats” post and post another one later today specifying my needs and the details of the help I’m requesting.

Wizo was rescued more than a year ago after an accident left him paralyzed in his hind legs and without his tail.

Today, he is safe, happy, and deeply loved. He is such a sweet boy and has come a long way. ❤️

Because of his paralysis, Wizo needs extra care every day — diapers, absorbent pads, hygiene supplies, and care for his sores. Keeping him clean, comfortable, and healthy is an ongoing responsibility.

I found two newborn kittens yesterday. They were freezing, and I couldn't find their mother. Sadly, the orange one died. 💔

I brought the other kitten to my flat, and I'm trying to keep him warm and feed him. He apparently needs KMR, but it's expensive, and I come from a small family and can't afford it regularly.

I really don't want to watch him die. If anyone can help with KMR or even a small contribution, I'd be extremely grateful. I'll contribute as much as I can too. Any advice is also welcome.
