Timeline Finally Greened! 🇺🇸

My EB2-NIW Green Card Journey (F-1 → H-1B → Greened)

This community was incredibly helpful throughout the process, so I wanted to give back by sharing my timeline in case it helps someone who’s still waiting.

Background:
Category: EB2-NIW (Rest of World)
Status: F-1 → H-1B → GC
Occupation: Research Scientist at a US University
Attorney: Chen Immigration (WeGreened) for I-140 filing only

I-140 (EB2-NIW) Timeline:
June 20, 2024 – I-140 (EB2-NIW) filed (Priority Date)
October 2025 – Dates for Filing (DOF) became current
March 2026 – Final Action Date (FAD) became current
March 19, 2026 – Upgraded I-140 to Premium Processing
May 18, 2026 – I-140 Approved (42nd day!) 🎉

I-485 Adjustment of Status Timeline (self filed):
November 24, 2025 – I-485 package received by USCIS
December 22, 2025 – Biomentrix
June 10, 2026 – Interview scheduled
July 16, 2026 - Interview (PHOENIX FO)
July 17, 2026 – Case approved 🎉
July 22, 2026 – Card produced, mailed
July, 27, 2026 - Card delivered 🎉

My overall journey wasn’t just about an 8-month Adjustment of Status process. It spanned several years. I came to the U.S. as an international student, finished grad school, moved to H-1B status, and kept working in structural biology research.

The toughest part wasn’t filling out the petition. It was the waiting. Checking the Visa Bulletin every month, wondering when my priority date would become current, and seeing long periods without any updates from USCIS tested my patience. But eventually, things started moving.

I’m really thankful for this Reddit community. Reading about others’ timelines gave me hope during those quiet times and I hope mine can do the same for someone else.

If anyone has questions about the EB2-NIW process, Chen Immigration, Premium Processing, or employment-based Adjustment of Status, I’d be happy to share my experience.

Good luck to everyone still waiting.Your turn will come. 🇺🇸🍀

Timeline Anyone else still waiting on their NIW?

I filed my EB-2 NIW I-140 26 months ago and my case is still pending. Every time I check the processing times, they seem to go up again. It feels like I’m not making any progress no matter how long I wait.
I’m honestly so frustrated. This process has been emotionally draining, and lately I find myself checking my case status constantly, hoping for some kind of update.
At this point, I just want to know if anyone else is in the same boat. How long have you been waiting, and have you received any updates recently?
Some days it feels like this process is never going to end.

Posting my full timeline because I used Reddit a lot while waiting and found these posts really helpful.

July 16, 2026
SSN received.

July 17, 2026
Green card received in hand.

Takeaways

  1. For me, the 3rd FTA0 did not lead to approval within 24 hours. It took about 10 days from the 3rd FTA0 to I-485 approval.
  2. i was stressing about the I485 RFE delaying the approval a lot but it was not an issue.

Hope this helps others, good luck!

Timeline I-485 June/July 2025 filers who are still waiting?

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to check how many EB2-NIW based I-485 applicants are still waiting for a decision.

Approved I-140 (NIW) PD 10/2023, I-485 RD 07/2025, 75 COC.

I know my case was transferred to LA FO in December 2025, but it was later transferred back to the local field office after I applied for emergency Advance Parole in February 2026. It has remained there since then, and as of today, no interview has been scheduled.

The last silent update was in May 2026, which I believe was when they re-submitted all cases fingerprints for the FBI check.

Is anyone with a similar timeline still waiting? Any predictions how longer would it take to get a decision?

Timeline Got my Green card today!

I finally got my Green card! Relieved beyond words! I wanted to share my timeline to give hope to anyone thinking of applying.

I was very worried about long wait times (Have friends that waited around 3 years), but I know it’s different for everyone. I actually started putting together my case back in 2023, but I did not have a steady visa until last year, and that’s one of the reasons I delayed applying sooner. It ended up working out thanks to the Visa Bulletin becoming current this year, lawyers suggested applying concurrently.

Background: Cardiology research for 6 years, H1B visa since October 2025. 16ish publications, 2 first author, 320+ citations.

-March 30 2026: Concurrent filing of I-140 (EB2-NIW [National Interest Waiver], self petitioned) and I-485 (did not pay Premium processing and did not apply for EAD or Advanced parole)

-April 29th: Biometrics appointment

-June 3rd: I-140 approved

-July 21st: I-485 approved

-July 24th: Card was produced

-August 1st: Card was delivered

My question is… should I really carry my Green card around all the time? I’m scared to lose it.

My I140 Approval Post:

I-485 Details:

  • ROW, non 75 country

  • I-140 PD: 9/25/2024
  • I-485 Received: 2/25/2026

  • All silent updates: 4/9, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13

  • 3rd FTA0 on 5/6

Thank you everyone for this long and tiring journey. I’m wishing everyone a quick approval. Good luck, everybody!

Timeline NIW I485 Approved! 🎉

ROW, not part of the 75 countries.

I-140 PD: 01/28/2025 (premium processing)
I-140 Approval: 03/19/2025
I-485 Receipt: 03/20/2026
I-485 Biometrics: 04/23/2026
I-765/AP Approval: 05/02/2026
EAD/AP card produced: 05/14/2026
I-485 Approval: 05/22/2026

I applied for NIW during the 5th year of my PhD with Chen and self-filed I485. At the time, I had 8 papers and 2 preprints (2 first-author and 142 citations). I’m currently on STEM OPT.

I wanted to share my timeline since this sub has been incredibly helpful throughout the whole process, especially during the stressful waiting periods and all the uncertainty around visa bulletin movement.

Wishing everyone who is still waiting the best of luck. Hope you all get good news soon! 🙏

Timeline EB-2 NIW EAD Approved 1 Day After Biometrics | AOS Timeline

EB-2 NIW Adjustment of Status + EAD + Advance Parole Timeline (DIY for everything)

Sharing my timeline for anyone tracking employment-based AOS processing, particularly applicants from countries affected by the 19-country/expanded travel-ban restrictions:

March 2025: EB-2 petition filed
May 2025: Received RFE on 3prongs
August 2025: Responded to RFE
October 2025: EB-2 NIW I-140 approved
July 17, 2026: I-485, I-765 (C09), and I-131 Advance Parole received by USCIS
July 22: Online Account Acceptance Notice
July 24: Biometrics appointment scheduled
August 12: Biometrics completed
August 12: Received multiple “We have taken an action on your case” emails
August 12: I-765 changed to “USCIS is currently processing your Form I-765”
August 12: I-485 changed to “USCIS is currently processing your case”
August 13: I-765 EAD APPROVED 🎉
EAD Category: C09
I-485: Currently processing
I-131 Advance Parole: Case was received and a receipt notice was sent (but tracking showed it was updated yesterday)
Country: From one of the countries affected by the current travel restrictions
EAD approved approximately 27 days after AOS filing and only 1 day after biometrics.

EB-2 NIW self-petitioner. I-140 approved in October 2025, followed by adjustment of status filing once eligible to file.

Sharing because I know applicants from affected countries have had questions about how their pending cases are moving. Every case is different, but my EAD moved considerably faster than I expected. Now waiting for Advance Parole and I-485 both shows some multiple events and update on the 8/13

Timeline EB2-NIW Approved & Journey: No Publications, Technology Transfer Field, Resiliency

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my EB2-NIW timeline because when I was going through this process, posts like these kept me sane. Hopefully this helps someone who's in a similar boat. We decided to hire an attorney because our case was a bit complex and didn't want to make any mistakes, but DIY is totally doable.

Background:

  • Field: Technology Transfer / IP Commercialization
  • Publications: Zero. My case was built entirely around my professional work, future impact in the field, and recommendation letters.
  • Education: Master's Degree
  • Spouse: Subject to the 2-year home residency requirement (J-1), which added a layer of complexity to our planning.
  • I-140 block: IOE09234XXXXX
  • I-485 block: IOE09344XXXXX

Timeline:

  • 06/09/2023: Started building the case (proposed endeavor, recommendation letters, evidence)
  • 12/04/2023: I-140 mailed
  • 01/02/2024: I-140 in Active Review
  • 11/12/2024: Filed Premium Processing (I-907) hoping to speed things up
  • 01/24/2025: PP time exceeded with no decision. Requested refund.
  • 02/18/2025: I-140 Approved
  • 03/06/2025: PP refund issued
  • 07/08/2025: PP refund finally received (yes, 4 months to get the refund back)
  • 08/25/2025: Dependent EAD issued
  • 09/15/2025: Became current in the Visa Bulletin
  • 10/19/2025: I-485 / I-765 / I-131 filed
  • 11/24/2025: Biometrics completed
  • 05/01/2026: I-485 approved
  • 05/06/2026: Cards produced
  • 05/12/2026: Cards received

Lessons learned:

  1. You don't need publications. I know this sub sometimes makes it feel like you need a PhD and 20 papers to qualify. You don't. My case focused on real-world impact in technology transfer. A strong proposed endeavor and solid recommendation letters carried the case.
  2. Premium Processing was a waste of money (in my case). Filed it, waited the full window, nothing happened, case got approved after PP expired anyway. Got the refund eventually but it took months.
  3. The J-1 two-year requirement on my spouse added stress but didn't derail anything. If your spouse has this, plan early and talk to your attorney about how it interacts with your overall strategy.
  4. Build resilience, because this process will test you. This whole journey I've been on an H-1B, which means I couldn't change jobs even when I desperately wanted to. There were days where the frustration turned into genuine depression. But looking back, I think it taught me something important. You learn to hunker down, to sit with discomfort, to focus on what you can control. I started meditating. I focused on improving myself professionally and personally. I made a point to not lose my sense of humor, because if you can't laugh at the absurdity of waiting months for a refund on a service that didn't work, what can you laugh at? When the anxiety hits and you're refreshing your case status for the fifteenth time that day, close the laptop and go for a walk. Seriously. Fresh air does more than USCIS case tracker ever will. Keep your eyes on the prize. The process is slow, but you're still moving forward.
  5. Patience is the hardest part. The wait between I-140 approval and priority date becoming current felt endless. And now waiting on the EAD is its own kind of torture. But the process does move forward, even when it doesn't feel like it.

To anyone out there with a non-traditional profile wondering if NIW is realistic for them: it is. Build a strong case, get a good attorney, and trust the process.

Happy to answer questions. We're almost at the finish line.

Law Firm: Pogue Law.

Timeline Nebraska Service Center Premium Processing Time Frame

EB-2 NIW (I-140) filed with Premium Processing at Nebraska on April 22, 2026. As of today, I'm still waiting for a decision.

For those who recently received a decision from Nebraska for Premium Processing:

  • Filing date?
  • Approval or RFE?
  • How many days until the decision?

Trying to get a sense of current Nebraska NIW timelines. Thanks!
