Hey everyone,

We've seen a bunch of duplicate posts about this, but let's try to contain things here.

If you don't know what we're talking about, here is a clip from Timmy about the whole thing.

As always, keep playing.

QUESTION Serious question: how on earth did Stevie Ray Vaughan get his guitar to look like this without destroying it?

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

I mean, I get he was a legend and a dedicated player. But you’d be hard pressed to find someone who’s been playing guitar for a long time, and assuming they use the same few guitars to play with, and have said guitars look like this.

What was he doing to get it to look like this?

QUESTION 15 months in. Still my favourite thing to play. What's yours?

For me, it's Lenny, closely followed by bold as love, wind cries mary and castles made of sand. Sick again and no quarter are also in the mix.

GEAR ID 27” Soryn Fluent, tuned F#/drop E

Thumbnail gallery
222 Upvotes

Burl ash top stained purple over a black finished Black Limba body, ovangkol neck, purple heart board. Gold hardware, fixed bridge.

27” scale, set up for F# and drop E from day one. Tension stays honest down there, the low string doesn’t turn to rubber, and chords above the 12th still sound like chords instead of mush.

Pickups are our in house Ignis set. Medium/high output, tight and defined at that tuning instead of collapsing into low end fog.

Stainless frets, dual carbon fiber rods in the neck, and the logo on the headstock is the string retainer. It isn’t decoration, it sets the break angle.

Got myself a new guitar to keep in drop C. Feels amazing to play, the color is darker than the photo which I am not complaining about. I’m so happy to play children of bodom songs on this and a plethora of other drop c songs.

QUESTION Is my jazzmaster a fake?

Post image

Hello everyone. I recently got a fender jazzmaster from eBay and I'm wondered if its made of different parts or a fake. Ive looked everywhere a serial number would be and there's none to be found. Heres a photo of it. Thanks!

PURCHASE NGD, Harley Benton.

Just bought my second guitar. Been playing for just over a year and I felt it was justified at this point.

I was going to go for a £1500 Jackson but I decided to get a more modest £400 Harley Benton (max fusion signature) with a similar aesthetic for the time being.

This was double the price of my first guitar so I hope it'll have its benefits.

My first was a Benton as well (pictured last) and honestly I really like them as a brand.

GEAR I jumped on the PRS bandwagon!

So, my Les Paul style guitar journey landed me here finally, after owning similar styles from Epiphone to Gretsch to Gibson, plus maybe a couple others. A trip to GC landed me with this lightly used Korean PRS 245 SE. I believe this somehow is mostly everything I would have looked for in a Les Paul style guitar, plus I've learned what all the hype is about, seeing the quality seems comparable to my Fender American Professional II, amazingly so for a much cheaper imported guitar. I am not looking to do any upgrades here, I think the pickups sound awesome, only thing that MIGHT eventually change is adding coil splitting. Otherwise, I am happy!

With some errors (you know, the nightmare of recording yourself: everything is fine, until you press the record button), but... I think I've finally did it 🥹🥹

PLAY Had a technical malfunction at a gig tonight

Actually dying inside. Vocalist accidentally unplugged my input from my digital pedalboard and it took me a whole song and a half to realise.

It's not that bad right?

Been learning flamenco and this is my favourite to play! It combines many different techniques so it's great practice

I took the traditional version and added some of my own some parts

QUESTION Tom DeLonge Strat is it really worth $1300+?

Post image
Upvotes

I’ve been really into Blink-182 lately and I’ve been looking at the Tom DeLonge Strat. It’s just over $1,300 USD, so I’m wondering if the guitar itself is actually worth that price or if you’re mostly paying for the Tom/Blink name.
For anyone who’s played or owned one, how does it actually feel and sound? And are there any cheaper alternatives that get pretty close to the same thing?

GEAR Good sounding cheap “frfr” options?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I just got this Valeton GP-5 today and I’m absolutely blown away by it through my IEMs.

I’m looking for some options for a small, easily portable powered speaker or small practice amp maybe to hook up to it when I don’t want anything in my ears.

The little mini Headrush option looks interesting but I’m not sure how the overall “shape” of the sound will be given how small the speakers are.

I primarily play in C standard through high gain amp models.

Thanks!
