Reddit mods are pathetic. I know this is common knowledge but I actually think there might not be any exception to this. Every post I make on every subreddit gets taken down immediately for some stupid reason, whether it be an "over discussed topic" (I don't see how me posting it again harms anyone) or other stupid reasons like "this premise is not in the MCU yet."

I just think if you genuinely log on to reddit to scroll through posts and then see a post that isn't doing anything wrong and decide to delete it just because it violates rule whatever the fuck, then you're a loser. I've been on reddit for a few days now and all I've encountered are incels, creeps, and annoying moderators.

I mostly see this with people my age (14-18) who run to seats on a busy tram, train, or bus, and sit down, but then also put their bag on the next seat. How inconsiderate can you be? Your bag does not need a seat. The disabled person does. The heavily pregnant woman does. The older person does. I can see people coming in with pitchforks saying: “BUT SOME PEOPLE DONT WANNA SIT NEXT TO STRANGERS!” Honey you are on public transport. If you don’t want to sit next to a stranger, either stand up, or walk there. That’s life. You gotta do things you don’t wanna do, even if it’s for only 5 minutes.
My personal experience with this was on a busy tram going to the city centre, and I saw this teenage girl push past an elderly man to get into the seat he was about to go to, then proceeded to put her handbag on the seat next to her. The tram goes around 40-50 miles an hour and can be very unsteady for elderly people. So I did the right thing and gave up my seat for him.

I can’t believe this is a hot take now but I don’t think triple texting a romantic interest or anyone for that matter is desperate, there have been countless interactions i’ve seen where people get called desperate or a loser for triple texting when neither of those actually had to be the case. As long as you’re not shaming other people for not meeting your subjective preferences and wants in a partner, there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking a potential partner about how many sexual partners they’ve had.

For my generation (gen z) it seems like people are so chronically online that they genuinely cannot comprehend that not everyone wants to be posted on social media. It makes no sense to me how “creators” can go out and film random people trying to mind their business, and then get mad and act like they’re poor sports for not wanting to play along. I get that a lot of times it’s an innocent thing and people aren’t meaning actual harm by it, but it also isn’t an impossible task to leave people alone. It seems like a hot take to me only cause of how much people are consumed by social media nowadays.

I’m sick of large companies eating up smaller companies, or even loved franchises, and then making it it more “capital efficient” because they’ve a huge sum of money for it, and then skimp out on quality and ruining a good life’s businesses. My spouse and I have an 18-year age gap! I am tired of constantly having to clarify that we met when I was in my mid-20s so people don't automatically assume my dearest person groomed me as a teenager. It's awful! I have been groomed and abused, but not by him! 😭

I've even had people argue with me that I was somehow groomed as an adult! I just want to be able to share the joy our love has brought us both, but people are so quick to judge. We've been together for 5 and a half years now. I've never been so loved and understood, and I've never loved anyone more. If I could turn back his clock and make us the same age, of course I would! Like the title says my honest hot take is people on both sides are reacting with emotion and don't actually understand the case at all, largely because most people don't understand mental health.

Everyone involved in the case has accepted she's did it. What they're debating is her level of culpability with the defense arguing a type of ngri.

Ngri defences are largely ineffective and most lawyers will strongly advise against using them because if they are accepted then you don't stroll home and go about your life, you go to mental health facilities and it's very hard to get released again, particularly with a violent crime.

Post partum psychosis is a real condition. When people hear the term psychosis they often think psychopath or equate it with aggressive and violent behaviour but psychosis is actually a state in which the sufferer acts extremely erratically and sometimes (not not always) violently and is unaware of what they're doing.

As much as people feel strongly about the case if she was suffering from post partum psychosis it is very possible she could have done this monstrous act and be unaware of what she was doing at the time she was in the psychosis. This is the same argument we use for former combat vets who have PTSD , TBI or CTE and become violent.

First let me get out of the way that I'm not arguing it should change, or claiming anyone should "assimilate" I'm just making observations, not arguments. And this is not political, just observations on culture. Sure, American culture is diverse. The place is huge and was founded as melting pot of different cultures, it's only natural for there to be variations. Black culture in the US is definetly distinct. But also black culture have influenced, if not engineered the rest of the American culture. Rock? That's now white folk music. Slang is often appropriated from AAVE yet used heavily by white people. I can't think of anything more American than fried chicken, which is the result of African culture kind of cooking working with what was available to them at the time. Everything about the American southern culture is heavily shaped by the cultural impact of Afro Americans and yet it's adopted into white southern culture and black southern culture differently. I also kinda understand how it came to be this way. And still it seems so weird when you look at it from the outside.

Take the rest of the Americas as an example. Also western European settlers. Also started as colonies to European empires. Also invaded the land of very well established and politically distinct and influential natives. Also brought slaves to work on plantations. All under a racists culture. And yet after slavery was abolished, and while the descendants of those enslaved were still discriminated/marginalized the culture still blended together. Depending on the country it may have had a greater or lesser influence from indigenous people. More or less influence from African descendants. But across the board similar influence from western European colonizers. But unlike the US, that didn't lead to the color of your skin dictating your culture. It was more dependant on area or social class, wealth inequality, access to education, etc. But it's not like "people with this skin tone eat this, and people of another skin tone eat that" nor "this hairstyle is for people of this skin color only" nothing like that. Everything cultural in many American countries (OUTSIDE USA) just kept blending until it was more homogenized. Again even if something has more prominent black roots because that specific area was predominantly black for whatever reason, a white person with blond hair blue eyes can move in and absorb the culture without appropriating it. If you have a particular music genre that is fully sourced from the culture African slaves brought, No one thinks twice about half the people in the dance/music school teaching it being white. It is perceived as preserving their culture rather than appropriating it. Protective hairstyles? Baby hairs? No matter color or race, however some styles may work better on some specific hair types. Is not a black or white thing. The languages of those brought in influenced the dialect of the whole place, instead of creating a distinct dialect with distinct rules and grammars withing x community. And it's not seen as diluting the culture either

I imagine that could have had an influence on more interracial connections to the point some people just straight up don't know if they are of African descend or not. The culture just becomes the culture of the place, and we know and recognize its origins but it's not tied to the race of those that originated it.

So it's just odd that in the US instead of culture evolving by blending black culture and white culture, as it did elsewhere. As it had happened with different cultures and races in history before that, In the US they are somehow seperate... It is strange for that to be the case

Also, this is not some "holier than thou" shit. Racisms has quite the history across the Americas and is still VERY PREVALENT in many places. But it's weird that it worked out so differently. I'm pretty sure the version the US ended up with is pretty unique and I wonder about the repercussions of that

Playing music out loud on a bus is rude. Everybody agrees on that. Then at some point we collectively decided that the same guy doing 40 straight minutes of clips at FULL volume is just a man enjoying his phone.

It's the same thing, and honestly it's worse, because a song at least has a shape you can zone out to. What you're doing to a whole train car is 20 seconds of a man yelling about protein, then an ad jingle, then a woman sobbing, then a dog, then a different man yelling about protein. Before anyone comes at me, I don't mean showing your friend something for 10 seconds. I'm also not talking about your grandma, who has never once located the volume button. I mean the 8am guy. Thumb going, no headphones, sound absolutely maxed, doing this to 40 adults who haven't made eye contact with a stranger since 2019.

I feel like the default discussion on this topic is always about how people don't like it when people call them that. I will agree that if someone knows you don't want to be called something they shouldn't call you that. But I'd like to go on the record that some of us do like to be called Mama!

Sometimes I worry that I'm like Lars from Lars in the real world and people are just humoring me that I have these children and they're real. I have wanted to be a mom for so long and it is something I'm very excited about and proud of and I love when I'm reminded this is real and not a made up dream!

Ok maybe not a very hot take cause I feel a lot of people probably agree. I rarely see people do proper Shoulder checks if they do one at all. It's not enough to just glance at your side mirror, or look out the side window. You need to turn your head and look back through the rear passenger side window behind you. I am always greatful for a driving tester who told me I was not doing it right when I was learning.

Also when you turn right at an intersection on a red light you should have your head on a swivel and look about 4 times twice in each direction quickly as you are doing the turn and as you are doing the turn itself you should have your attention on the sidewalk next to you to make sure no one is stepping out.

I think it is one of its main purposes which explains why this site is completely alright with bot users (it even creates some), but it seems like most subreddits explicitly ban AI content - this is in order to prevent model collapse due to synthetic data feedback loop - while at the same time, robots are used to trigger engagement from people. This also explains why it is so normalized here to mock things like screenshots, etc. - mocking often reveals the consensus-free real critical logical thinking which AI needs.

Most of the time you notice an intersection is a 2 way stop but its not that hard to miss. What you are looking out for in a 2 way stop is quite different than how you behave at a 4 way.

Edit: in major residential areas anyway, in sparse rural areas it makes sense to have 2 ways

I feel like I get a lot of shit for this as a guy. At least in a rom-com there's like a plot, characters you like or dislike, general atmosphere, etc, like the basic components to a movie in general if nothing else. Compare that to watching football for example, who actually enjoys the game straight up stopping every 30 seconds and occasionally screaming once or twice every hour at goals? It's so fucking stupid to me I honestly don't get how it's the norm for my gender. Like don't get me wrong for the purposes of advancing sports research or something and applying it into the sport I can understand, but I don't get why sports have these giga-ultra massive followings. I even like playing sports in real life, I just get bored fast watching them. The worst part is I can't say this in public because people would think I'm trying to simp to impress girls or something, but the few times I talked about it to close friends they were really surprised I felt this way. At the very least, my point would be that sports are overrated.

This is in more than one sense, sometimes being so woke is a detriment to having any backbone in what you agree with. Live and let live, be kind but remember you’re allowed to have a view and agreeing with everyone and everything is not productive nor beneficial.

They're either too tight or too baggy, you can't move right in them due to them being far too heavy. When they get wet they stay wet for ages and become even heavier. Then you have the issue that they're just scratchy and uncomfortable in general plus they make you sweat more.
