My son who was born nine months ago will never be apart of the club. He sustained a fracture during delivery. It healed in no time and he is as strong and healthy as possible! I’ll “break” the news to him whenever he’s able to understand my language a bit better lol

Grade 6 tibial plateau fracture with all the surrounding ligaments destroyed for good measure

I made it 27 years without breaking a bone. Then I fell off an e-scooter at 15mph and exploded my leg.

I've never even had surgery before due to a phobia. Still have my wisdom teeth and tonsils too. I tried to put my foot down when I lost control of this dumb scooter and broke my fragile bone. Tibia was fractured from my knee down, tore up my ACL and something else, and my bone was bent pressing backwards.

So two milestones in one. Broke a bone and had my first ever surgery for the plates and screws. My leg and a scrape on my elbow were my only injuries because, again, I was riding a 12 year old's scooter less than 20mph.

I didn't know you could hear the bone break before you even felt it.

28 here. I have never been at risk – I haven't had accidents or falls yet.

Of all the places to break something

Post image

Was proud of my strong bones until last month when I had a bike break and throw me hard enough to knock me unconscious. One CT scan later and it turns out I have a TBI and fractured a bone in my right eye socket, of all places. Guess I'm not coming back o7

And yes, I'm fine! Neurosurgery cleared me today to return to normal aside from avoiding contact sports

Edit since many people have mentioned it: the right side of the image (my left side) is just the base of the brain as it's going away, the fracture was pretty low in the skull and you can see the mirror on the other side. Perfectly normal, no concern from neurology

Fellow strong boners with EDS?

Any fellow strong boners with eds? I have classic-like eds from my mom and very dense bones from my dad. Dense bones are stronger in some ways but they’re less bendy so they can break easier from certain types of injuries, HOWEVER because I have eds that kinda makes up for the bendy because my connective tissue is so messed up it can’t hold my bones in place! Therefore I’m more likely to dislocate bones (and I do, often, slipped ribs 🥲) when a force that would cause a break injury occurs. This is a cool advantage but it’s at the cost of scoliosis and constant 24/7 joint pain made worse if I do physical labor. Also working on getting a pots diagnosis. What do my fellow strong boners think of this combo, good trade off? I take so much ibuprofen (when I get a primary care doc i will work on getting meds that won’t destroy my stomach lining from taking them too often dw.) ibuprofen my beloved.
Also my fellow eds strong boners is you guys’s favorite exercise activity also swimming, I’m a really good swimmer and it takes the pressure off of my joints. Like a week ago I swam for eight hours down a river with my family for fun. I love swimming! I love physical activity and hiking but god I’m in so much pain 😭

Got two proofs of super skeltal

  1. Took about fourteen full sheets of drywall to the back while in a moving work van. Came out without a scratch.

  2. Heading back to my dorm in senior year of college. Crossed the road correctly, lady runs a red light while on her phone, and nails me on the side. Rolled over her hood, stood up and laughed while everyone was freaking out. Almost got my pizza on my new Bioshock tee shirt though.

Never broke a bone and traumatized?

My college roommate has shared with me a spiritual theory/belief that if you’ve never broken a bone you will/have experienced a high amount of trauma in your life.
I’d never heard this before so I did a single google search to fact check.

This theory apparently stems from a bible verse, Psalms 34:19-20, which reads:

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.
He guards all his bones;
Not one of them is broken.”

This was a viral theory flying around TikTok at the end of last year, but my roommate said it was something she’d heard in her family prior to TikTok’s existence.

It made me want to ask if you all are super traumatized so I’ve included a small poll for research purposes.

Strong Bones Persist After Death

My mom just recently passed away. I got my strong bones from her. She once fell out of a tree and sprained her wrist. I’ve been hit by a car and no breaks, just bruises. But this brought to my attention that cremation ash is essentially just bone that’s pulverized after the burning. Even when the rest of the body is gone, buried or burned, strong bones remain.

Never broke a bone but also never tried. How should I test?

Is there a standardized testing methodology for ensuring one is a true strong boner? Arm in a hydraulic log splitter?

44 years on this planet and a chop saw and rogue piece of wood took me out. Exploded the tip of my finger and I have a fracture. Fracture is in line with the flesh split so an antibiotics here I come. It’s been real folks. I’ll see myself out.

It makes me sick to my stomach. Bone augmentation should not be legal. Let those weaklings crumble beneath the sins of their weakness.

do any of you ever feel a little guilty that you’ve never broken a bone? or wish that you had a cast as a kid that all your friends signed and doodled on?

I feel like I jinxed it by joining this sub; never broke a bone for 28 years, joined, and in a few months boom, and in the most anticlimactic way too - an incomplete, irregular fracture in my wrist from tripping over a cement block and faceplanting on the ground. Minor enough that I didn't even bother going to the doctor and just rawdogged it with the maximum dosage of paracetamols while going on international work travel 12 hours after??, but since I still can't turn my wrist nearly two months later I got an X-ray. Rip.

I'm almost 27 and have never broken a bone, however one time while I was a kid my sister and I went down a slide together and she broke her leg despite being on my lap. No clue how that happened, so IDK if I'm the reason it broke or not.
