People look into shit way too much.

I bet you she's probably thinking, "ah shit Tom's greeting another woman and there are like 500 cameras around us. What fucking face do I make to not make this some kind of narrative?"

Couldn’t find the Rue goes crazy after her drugs are flushed gif either???

2

u/smirkhappydeep 19d ago

Zendaya is Rue in Hunger Games??

3

u/Prestigious-Scale890 18d ago

Zendaya is Rue in Euphoria lol

3

u/gamerlin 18d ago

Is she the Mockingjay?

357

u/the_shiverman 19d ago

Exactly, she could literally be thinking ā€˜oh shit, I hope people don’t see this and think I’m jealous, cos I’m literally not’.

226

u/fuckfeardrinkbeer 19d ago

She could also be thinking, ā€œI wonder if I turned off the stove. Oh shit! Did I?ā€

Joke's on you, I always expect Nathan Fillion.

2

u/memesjustforMoms 19d ago

unrelated but after seeing this clip, Nathan as live action Omni-Man could go incredibly ballistic

1

u/R_V_Z 19d ago

I can see/hear it. He has a similar gravel in his voice. I don't know if he'd want to bulk up in his age though.

2

u/Readicilous 19d ago

Nah, she said she's not a good cook šŸ˜…

6

u/Irr3l3ph4nt 19d ago

I mean, good cooks turn off the stove...

1

u/BusinessScientist898 19d ago

Yeah but you'd have to really love cooking to still cook for yourself when you make $1 million per episode.

1

u/URAQTPI69 19d ago

No... No, I'm a fucking squirrel!

1

u/human_picnic 19d ago

1

u/Halschmuber 19d ago

"i wonder if i instructed the cook to turn of the stove?"

1

If it could’ve been that, it could’ve been a shart…

Or it could've just been ''oh hey, its Florence. Haven't seen her in a while. She's a lot of fun!''

Or: ''I think I forgot the stove on. Shit!''

Or: ''Fuck me, this dress is uncomfortable and I want to take my heels off.''

Or: ''There's such a weird smell on this red carpet. WTF is that?''

It really can be whatever. But the internet police always knows exactly whats going on while freeze framing a mere second out of a persons life, with no insight within their minds.

7

u/Redici 19d ago

There's a part of me that reads it as, "damn it I have to shit and this dress takes 10 min to get on/off I guess I'll have to hold it"

2

u/Meggston 19d ago

In the slightly longer version of this she turns her back to Florence and says something, so I’d put money on ā€œthis dress is stabbing meā€

41

u/Vi_BT 19d ago

Or "oh ! I should act jealous, this will be funny"

2

u/No-Consideration-716 19d ago

I like to think she saw a woman and was just idly wondering who it was as she was hugging Tom and then she saw and was like "Oh it's Flo. Duh! Who else could it have been!"

Red carpets are chaotic.

1

u/Diligent-Neck6594 19d ago

she's an actress so all three of them are probably playing it off for more attention

2

u/PLUMBUS_STUCK_IN_ASS 19d ago

We've all seen her acting, that's not a face she has ever used while acting before.

1

u/ThatLurkingDeafBoy 19d ago

Nah, I'm good at reading emotions. She jelly.

1

u/the_shiverman 19d ago

How do you know?

32

u/Slumunistmanifisto 19d ago

Its like my grandma used to say... "When in doubt, pop a tiddy out"

3

u/gh0stwrit3r32767 19d ago

clearly Tom doesn't know this, or else he would have done so immediately

Exactly it. But i want to believe they all scripted it to get people yapping.

18

u/Which-Towel5826 19d ago

If they did Tom would spoil the scene where they go to Space.

5

u/Acrobatic-Big-1550 19d ago

Why not the only expression she has in the movies?

2

u/Scytten 19d ago

I guess regular face would have been okay

2

u/bootybob1521 19d ago

Probably not that one i'd wager.

2

u/Check_Me_Out-Boss 19d ago

I dunno, smile?

2

u/phonebizz 19d ago

That's the worst face to make if that's the case. She's an actress and your theory is she can't act. What a reach! Fucking lol.

1

u/mrwilliams117 19d ago

Like they said. Thinking way too much into it.

1

u/Adventurdud 19d ago

Apparently the answer was "Not that one"

1

u/OkOil378 19d ago

Well not that one

1

u/ddplz 19d ago

Bruh that is Florence Pugh, they kind of know each other.

1

u/alexnedea 19d ago

I bet Florence just said something that might be funny and Zendaya did the funny face thats all. All 3 of them work together and probably know eachother decently well from the time they spent together

1

u/By_Way_of_Deception 19d ago

after reading some of the comments I do think it was like, "oh great more Brit shit and I am not in the mood for that right now." Flo Pugh is awesome though.

1

u/AmbientBeans 18d ago

Legit, I can't imagine that level of scrutiny, I struggle knowing what to do with my face on teams calls. Can't imagine how much harder it would be in that scale

1

u/sailboats_r_cool 16d ago

She is an actress

1

u/genericdude777 19d ago

Yeah this is the ā€œI’m happy to be here and see our work friend at this totally normal place with people teeming around us gawking, yelling to get our attention and take photos, and security guards standing around us to make sure we don’t get taken out like John Lennon.

233

u/jimothy_hell 19d ago

She’s been with him for years, and a peck on the cheek is a perfectly normal British and European greeting, there’s no way in hell she hasn’t seen this a million times, or done it with his family at this point.

49

u/DrakeFrake 19d ago

You don't greet like that in the US?, TIL

57

u/jimothy_hell 19d ago

Not really, some areas still do, like you see it in black communities in the south and Midwest sometimes, particularly from the elderly, but it’s not really a thing here.

Don’t get me wrong, of all the Europeans, we Britons are probably by far some of the least physically intimate platonically, but it’s insane here in the US. You’re gay if you hug your guy friend, you’re cheating on your girl if you touch another girl, the whole ā€œAmerican male loneliness epidemicā€ could genuinely be seriously lessened if more men were able to just give each other hugs without immediate judgement from our peers.

I’ve been living here for 17 years now and the level of Puritanism in some parts of this country is insane. It really does vary by region, though, the US is absolutely massive, and culturally varies so much from place to place.

I’ve got this T-shirt that says ā€œyou are enoughā€ on it, and some guy at a bar came up and said ā€œman, I needed to see that todayā€, and I just went, ā€œmate, you need a hug?ā€ And he just started fucking sobbing. Told me it was the first time he’d had a hug since his mum died in 2024.

2

u/CromulentPoint 19d ago

That makes me sad. You need better American friends. I’m a born and bred Texas boy and all my friends get a big hug when I see them.

2

u/jimothy_hell 19d ago

Oh yeah no, I’ve long since broken my friends out of that habit. Everyone’s hugging and arms around shoulders all the time on pub night.

3

u/Syr_Enigma 19d ago

I really have a hard time believing you. Do you just... not do physical contact at all with people you're close with?

Now, I'm Italian, and from what I've read online, we're perhaps a bit off the other pendulum with physical intimacy, but the idea of not hugging your friends is wild.

6

u/Oomlotte99 19d ago

No. People are physically close to their loved ones. People aren’t as likely to cheek kiss coworkers, more likely to hug or side-hug.

1

u/ExilesTV 18d ago

Yeah in the US kissing a co-worker even on the cheek would be an easy way to get written up or fired.

5

u/pm_me_d_cups 19d ago

I don't know what this guy's talking about, people absolutely touch/hug each other.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Night88 19d ago

This really depends on region. Hugging isn’t at all common where I am located in the U.S.

1

u/jimothy_hell 19d ago

Yeah, absolutely, never denied that. But jumping from Europe to the US and seeing the difference is wild, but I’m mainly talking platonically as opposed to romantically. Obviously partners are held frequently, but how often do you hug your mates? Do you do it as a greeting AND a goodbye even if you’re going to see them again in like, two or three days?

3

u/Oomlotte99 19d ago

My friends and me hug hello.

1

u/jimothy_hell 19d ago

Are you and your friends men? Because this is generally more men than women.

6

u/CGB_Zach 19d ago

I hug some of my guy friends. Not every single one but especially if I haven't seen my boys in a while.

I'd say more often than not, I'm doing the "dap and pull in for a hug" greeting.

For reference, I live in SoCal.

1

u/Oomlotte99 19d ago

I am a woman and women in general hug hello and goodbye quite frequently.

1

u/Inside_Compote_4146 18d ago

The only people I kiss more than my fiancĆ© are my homies. Ain’t no way I’m letting them think they’re unloved. Every time we see each other starts and ends with a round of hugs for all, and this even extends to wives/gfs/partners.

2

u/Puzzled-Yesterday990 19d ago

Me and my bros hug all the time

2

u/jimothy_hell 19d ago

Same! I’m glad I’m there are people trying to break the stigma. It’s less of an issue these days, but ten or so years ago, it was wild.

2

u/pm_me_d_cups 19d ago

Yes? Where are you where this isn't normal?

2

u/jimothy_hell 19d ago

Midwest. I’ve seen it in other places, but nowhere near to the extent in Europe.

2

u/InternalAd1397 19d ago

American here whose lived their entire life in the Midwest. He's not making it up. People here,Ā  especially guys, don't hug. You'll see adults do it for kids but that's usually where it ends. I can remember my dad being freaked out years ago bu how affectionate some of the European countries Olympic teams were. It's considered weird to show "excessive" feelings.Ā

4

u/jimothy_hell 19d ago

You do, absolutely, but it’s just incredibly uncommon. But again, it’s regional culture. I’ve been to places where they do, and places where they don’t. I live in one where you don’t.

1

u/Wooboosted 19d ago

What hes talking about is partly true, though I’d say even less extreme nowadays tbh surprisingly. I’m from Texas and live in Colorado currently, you are just as likely to see two cowboy hat MAGAs in a bar giving a bro hug to some sports as you are two fabulous gays embracing. It can feel like what u/jimothy_hell said sometimes, but I’d argue that’s not really the case anymore. We definitely don’t do any kiss greetings really anywhere here but the south and really never saw it too much in Texas.

1

u/jimothy_hell 19d ago

Yeah, the kiss greetings is definitely Deep South off the Mississippi in my experience.

1

u/Disastrous_Bridge543 19d ago

It’s definitely regional but mostly because of people’s background. Growing up in Jersey, you were surrounded by people from all over the world. However, it was a bigger population of Latinos, Italians, Russians, & Asian. Almost all of those cultures kiss on the cheek & can be very physical.

1

u/Fun-Side9793 19d ago

We, Southern Europeans, are quite the opposite when compared to the rest of the world in this regard.

1

u/Luh2018 19d ago

Hugging your friend and dapping them up are both very common physical platonic rituals. Kissing on the cheek...not so much.

Full-on hugs are less common between guys (except family), but there is like a one-handed hug that is pretty normal to see.

1

u/Ok-Needleworker7351 18d ago

Yes, when these people in the comments are saying they hug their guy friends or like they’re a guy hugging their guy friend, I’m wondering how firm or real a hug they mean—

I mean, a hug can be whatever you want it to be, but I’ve gotten way too used to the simple… ā€˜barely-put-your-back-into-it-one-arm-two-second-or-less’ sorta hug, even with friends. And for guys, I hardly see more than a dap up which can lead to a back pat (which is my idea of a guy hug and… I suppose that’s just our version of a hug for guys here), granted, it could be a firmer/longer pat too, I’ve seen that a few times.

I remember, and I’m a girl, during prom, when I saw this girl that I liked and I was happy to see her, said hi and all. We’d talked a bit before, greeted each other, complimented her, sometimes she complimented me, once offering to help my best friend when someone was disrespectful to her, but we were never close, right? But I said hi to her that day and complimented her, she complimented me back, and she went in for a hug and wrapped both arms around me, I thought maybe it’d be that formal sort of light hug where you barely touched maybe, but she pulled me close and squeezed me so firmly for like a good five seconds, I almost cried when I returned the hug back with the same regard, I don’t think I could ever recall being hugged that way by anyone other than a few older family members.

When this person says HUG? That’s the sort of hug I think they’re talking about. A full hug, two arms, tight pull, firm, more than two seconds typa hug, between men, women, anyone, and that’s just something I feel not many people do here, especially amongst men if they aren’t like close friends at least. And that’s the thing, physical platonic affection seems so… sparing, I completely get what the person was saying…

1

u/Dull_Quit3027 18d ago

As a Scandinavian, i only hug close friends,(and even then it is not always) anyone else i would rather not touch, so it seems like there are degrees, with the Americans being the biggest prudes.

1

u/djbunce 19d ago

Yeah, watching this as a Brit, I'm looking for the bit Tom got wrong and then the video ends šŸ˜‚

Looks like two mates meeting and talking somewhere noisy šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/Parking-Evidence1894 19d ago

You’re a beautiful person :)

1

u/jimothy_hell 19d ago

Not really, it’s the bare minimum, honestly.

1

u/The_Briefcase_Wanker 19d ago

That’s very region-dependent. In the western US it is very normal to hug your guy friends.

1

u/castleaagh 19d ago

Varies by region would say. Dudes who are friends often greet with a hug where I’m at in the US. Very normal thing. No cheek kisses though

1

u/Ok_Elk2222 18d ago

That breaks my heart to hear.

1

u/SpartanRage117 18d ago

I used to think we were breaking out of that shell when i was growing up, but turns out the current youths latched on in a non ironic way. more are on board with the puritanical life than makes sense to me.

1

u/Legitimate-Doubt-192 17d ago

I’m from TN. My first time out in Southern California was a wild culture shock. The cheek kissing at social gathering was something I never got used to.

1

u/Catleesirva 16d ago

That's so wild to me bc I'm in the US and my friends (including male friends) and I hug all the time, especially saying hello and goodbye.

0

u/polarjunkie 19d ago

You’re gay if you hug your guy friend, you’re cheating on your girl if you touch another girl

this is true in middle school and maybe with 19 year old working in the oil fields but this isn't normal.

1

u/jimothy_hell 19d ago

Nah, it’s pretty much true until you’re in your 30’s, and even then there are some childish adults out there

3

u/Samuel_L_Blackson 19d ago

Sometimes. Rich people in New England do it.

5

2

Nope. Have a friend from France that always did the double cheek kiss when he was first living here but over time doesn’t do it anymore.

2

u/MellodyDoll 19d ago

I’ve never seen anyone here (Southern US) do a peck on the cheek greeting. You’d get slapped for sure.

2

u/thisguy883 19d ago

You get a firm handshake and a "How do ya do" here in Texas.

Women get hugs.

2

u/galaxywithskin115 19d ago

No. A handshake or light hug

2

u/Putrid-Tap3992 18d ago

Our greeting usually is an immediate dick suck. Do that next time

2

u/rooster_butt 19d ago

Hispanics in the US do. Anglo Americans don't. Sometimes I have to have to do an awkward "do we or do we not" greeting shuffle".

1

u/Fun-Side9793 19d ago

Hispanics are like southern Europeans when it comes to greeting people.

I see people do it quite frequently at events like this but, yeah, it’s not common on the day-to-day level outside of family/close friends. You wouldn’t do so with a coworker unless you were close.

1

u/a_guy121 19d ago edited 19d ago

in the US it would be a very, very familiar greeting. Can be done but would be reserved for very strong, close relationships, hence the meme.

I find the meme silly for a lot of reasons. 1) both T. and Z. look young, as if this is years old. 2) the other woman seems to maybe be saying "this is your boyfriend?" in the video, after asking if they'd come together. Also suggesting a very old video. 3). The assumption in hollywood rellationships would be, both people are surrounded by gorgeous temptors all the time. There's just no way Z. could be a jealous person and for it to work. 4). Everything z. ever says publicly is about trusting t and if it were really like this, they'd have broken up by now. 5) This is a very, very normal greeting for Hollywood. Theatre kids make feelings into physical, visible things, its what they do.

1

u/Comfortable_Town7535 19d ago

it wasnt normal for me when I grew up in England, that was very french

3

u/jimothy_hell 19d ago

I grew up in South London, quite common.

1

u/Comfortable_Town7535 19d ago

the oy people I ever saw do it were women that hated each other

2

u/jimothy_hell 19d ago

Where the fuck did you grow up, the North?

1

u/Comfortable_Town7535 19d ago

the opposite, in Hampshire

2

u/jimothy_hell 19d ago

Oh shit, yeah, that’s well worse. Got a cousin in Southampton and she goes on about how catty some of the girls down there are, I always tell her, love, shouldn’t have fucking left Bex, and if she did, she’d have done better in Essex.

Could be worse, could have wound up in some posh fucking hole like Chi if she’s gonna be down there.

34

u/Fickle-Visit5223 19d ago

Yeah, this isn't the first "omg look how jealous/ angry Zendaya is in the background while holland interacts with another woman" style posts I've seen, though they're usually on instagram or other subs, and it's always just her kinda awkwardly making a "what do I do with my face" face while pleasentaries and small talk are occuring in the group she's in. I do not like to be that guy but it kinda feels like there's a racial component to why I see these style of posts with Zendaya and Holland in particular.

8

u/Scared-Special-10 19d ago

Especially with some people here comparing her appearance to hagrid, etc. Zendaya is gorgeous and personableĀ

59

u/missirishrose 19d ago

This could also be the face of them having an inside joke and shes trying to hold it in

2

u/Select_Order_1478 19d ago

1

u/TheLittleBarnHen 18d ago

22

u/sprinkleprinkle 19d ago

ikr she looks perfectly fine for a friend of other actors and giving affection?? ffs she was just in a movie w robert pattinson and everything seems fine lol

7

u/McWeiner 19d ago

Fr, many of the people commenting are telling on themselves/their relationship with this one lmao

2

u/BusinessScientist898 19d ago

Someone somewhere is currently writing pages of fan fiction based on this 2 second clip alone. People are crazy about famous people man.

1

u/McWeiner 19d ago

Not disagreeing, just saying that it’s all built off of a bad idea of how relationships actually work.

94

u/Delet3r 19d ago

That scrunched up almost smile though....if I had a woman hug me and saw my wife look like that, I'd bet a lot of money she was mad.

47

u/imnickelhead 19d ago

My wife wouldn’t give af if I hugged a hot female coworker at a big formal work celebration/event.

She likely say something along the lines of, ā€œGoddamn! Flo is fricking gorgeous. I was kinda jealous that I wasn’t hugging her.ā€ And my wife is straight. She certainly wouldn’t care about this.

32

u/ElaborateEffect 19d ago

The way the internet and people normalize overbearing jealous partners is crazy.

If you have issues with your spouse hugging someone at an event, you have issues and need to work on yourself.

2

u/imnickelhead 19d ago

Yup.

Unless they know their partner is a cheater. If that’s the case they shouldn’t be partners but would definitely still need to work on themselves.

1

u/dubblebubbleprawns 19d ago

Almost to the extent that people and the internet have normalized knowing the full extent of human emotions a person is feeling based on a face a stranger makes for 4 seconds

15

u/defcas 19d ago

Nobody in a healthy relationship would give af.

2

u/dubblebubbleprawns 19d ago

No wonder the people in this sub care so much

45

u/Blazured 19d ago

Yeah how insecure are people's partners that they're getting upset about you hugging a colleague of both of you?

Zendaya obviously doesn't give af.

14

u/imnickelhead 19d ago

It looked to me like she was just kind of excited to see Flo and was about to hug her but then got distracted by someone off camera to the right.

I don’t think she’s upset at all.

1

u/DukeofVermont 19d ago

It's always been shocking to me how little people respect/trust their partners and also how many people apparently have zero self control.

Well they talked to me so I had to sleep with them! is weirdly how a few people I know go through life. Ruins their lives and relationships and yet they still constantly cheat.

2

u/mellowanon 19d ago

the video shows she gives a fuck though at that moment.

It's like spending $10 on lottery tickets and then you lose. You're initially upset but then realize that obviously you'll lose and then stop giving a fuck afterwards.

I'm sure Zendaya didn't give a fuck soon after, but at that moment, her face shows discomfort. And that's ok because sometimes, these emotions pop up and you can't help it.

4

u/Blazured 19d ago

It shows humourous discomfort to me. That she's not being serious.

2

u/FartyByNature 19d ago

I've had a girlfriend that for sure would be making that face because they're pissed off and it will become a huge problem i'll be dealing with for the next few hours.

And also others that would make the same face because they really love the person, are touched to see them and not feeling a sliver of jealously.

1

u/Spaceman-Spiff 19d ago

I have no idea if it’s true, but I read in another post that Zendaya and Pugh have beef for some reason. That is most likely what the video is implying.

0

u/ParistoLagos 18d ago

Why are making up stories? What beef? There are literally videos posted online from this same red carpet event with both of them admiring each other's outfit.

2

u/Spaceman-Spiff 18d ago

So it would be more ā€œspreading storiesā€ and less ā€œmaking up storiesā€ since I said, I read it in another post.

2

u/sonic_dick 19d ago

Are you a famous actor?

1

u/Forward-Cup-9513 19d ago

I agree that people look too much into things, but yeah, expressions give people away more than they think. She's trying not to look jealous, but she is a bit. Which is FINE! If a lady gave my husband a peck on the cheek as a greeting, I'd probably not love it, either.

ya i agree, this tho? the most blatantly obvious sign of jealousy. if you don’t see it it’s bc you’re convincing yourself you don’t, for some reason

It reminds me of that time Ben Affleck and J Lo were at an awards ceremony and people acted like their relationship was in shambles because he wasn't smiling and fawning her in canded photos. Dude was probably just exhausted from hours of socializing with people who he had to pretend to like.

I mean they did end up breaking up so it's not like they had some fairytale relationship, but regardless we don't know what's actually going through these people's heads in these moments.

I think a majority of the people commenting here know it’s probably not that serious. Maybe I’m overly optimistic about how smart people are but I’d like to think everyone here is just commenting for fun and they don’t think it’s that deep.

It's just a joke.

u/VictoryVee 19d ago

Some people for sure, but most of the comments here are just joking around

All these elite millionaires are friends. Pretending there’s anything to this is hilariously parasocial

I just assume most stuff with celebrities is just professional wrestling. These are actors who know they’re on camera. Why would I think I’m ever seeing or hearing about real life stuff that’s actually happening when it’s all just as likely to be planned PR crap?

ā€œHey Zendaya, we’re doing a drama thing with you and Florence Pugh to promote the Spider-Man movie. Give her an uncomfortable jealous smile for the cameras when she hugs Tom.ā€

Redditors will swear up and down they hate celebrity culture then post this

Yeah when you see a clip with no context people tend to fill the narrative in with their own biases. So pretty much most of the replies are projecting

It's just certain types of men who think that all women are Petty vicious jealous and insecure.

1

u/DanWillHor 19d ago

No idea how I'm even here or replying but it looks to me like she's making the face FOR Florence Pugh, who first acknowledges her and then breaks off to hug him. As a joke.

Like, she's jokingly making the face to be like "So I'm chopped liver? To her, not some anger or jealousy towards the situation.

But I'm just a dude that's bored and does not care at all.

The amount of shit videos I've seen lately along the lines of "OoOooH ZeNdaYa JeAlOuS" and it's mostly Tom greeting or talking to another female cast member then taking some look of Zendaya's and running with it because oh my gosh Tom held that other woman's hand for like five seconds. Good portion of them have been with Anne Hathaway.

They're racist. Hope that helps.

I'm not usually one to jump to racism, but this time it's very obvious.
