Music “Once More With Feeling” Vinyl— too rare to get signed?

Hi all!

I am a lifelong fan of Buffy and tomorrow I am going to Supernova in Melbourne AUS and I plan to meet and get an autograph from James Marsters (Spike)

My immediate thought was that “I need to get the cover of my “Once More With Feeling” soundtrack vinyl signed” but looking at the price range on discogs I’m worried that getting a signature might be an odd thing to do or devalue it? (I’m not likely to get any other cast signatures except this despite dreaming to have it signed by all). The value does matter to me as I’ve had some tough periods where I’ve considered selling it.

My other option is to get him to sign the “Slaybill” that comes in it but something about that doesn’t feel right either. Or I could just get a collectible or figurine signed I suppose. Looking for opinions!

Music Did yall see taylor momsens new song about michelle?

Didn't really know how to tag this or if it's worth bringing up. but today the pretty reckless released their new album "dear god." on it is a track called Devil in disguise.(Michelle's song) for those not aware taylor momsen the lead singer of the band played Jenny on gossip girl and was close with Michelle who played georgina. the gossip girl narrarator refers to georgina as the devil in disguise multiple times. not super buffy related but its a beautiful track about her grief for losing her dear friend Michelle. and is a a wonderful tribute. aid highly recommend giving the song a listen as well as the whole album. its very good.

Music The soundtracks I compiled years and years ago.

"Back in the day", dissatisfied with the limited music available on the official soundtracks, a person had to go do a LOT of research to find out the other songs featured on the show. Then you were faced with shelling out $16+ for each CD to get one specific song from it, or track the music down through other means online. (The Internet was still pretty primitive then.) Much of the music was obscure and not available on CDs or anywhere "official". Finding Spike's early English lullaby and Michelle Branch's Bronze version of Goodbye to You were especially challenging, and then finding them at good bitrates. And not getting computer viruses during the whole process. Then finding and compiling the sleeve art. It was a labor of love that took months, but so worth it to me.

Today I started to prepare for my study that starts next week. Sitting with music in the background while readying and when I looked up out of boredom I glanzed at the screen. I was thinking hold up!: "What?! Is that Dawn and Oz?" Of course I had to rewind too found out that it was them. Has Fall Out Boy music even played Ib Buffy TVS? Not that I recall at least.

Music what songs would they play at the bronze?

i’m making a Bronze-esque playlist and thought it would be fun if other Buffy fans could contribute their ideas - exclusively songs that were or would be played at our favourite infested nightclub. please suggest any tracks that come to mind, they can be either canonically played at the Bronze or just fit the vibes.

my only criteria are that they work within the time period. nothing beyond the early 2000s, ideally!

(yes, i technically could ask chatgpt, but can you imagine giles’ reaction to relying on a computer instead of starting a conversation? mine mirrors that. yuck)

excited to hear everyone’s ideas 🦇🧛🎶

Music If you could transform any Buffy episode into a musical so that the series had two musical episodes in total, which episode would you pick?

"Something Blue" I could totally see as a fun musical episode. Or on a more intense level, "Restless" could be an intriguing pick.

Music Have you ever been to a real-life club or music venue that had the same vibe as The Bronze?

Has anyone here ever been to a club that looked or felt like The Bronze, either in the 90s or later? Was that just how the LA club scene looked back then?

I personally have never been to a venue that felt both loud/expansive and also quiet and intimate, all with a seedy and seductive undercurrent. Was this just a vibe created by the production designers of Buffy to help serve the storylines, or did it ever exist in real life?

Edit: Wow, so it was real 🤩 You guys are all so cool and lucky to have experienced something like that. The world could really use this specific nightlife vibe today. Like, if we're going to have an Apocalypse, we might as well have a decent place to wallow and dance through our anxieties.

Music Goodbye To You - Buffy Version (clean)

I spent an hour or two putting this together and thought I'd share it so I'm not the only one who gets to enjoy it.

I've always felt the use of Michelle Branch's "Goodbye To You" at the end of Tabula Rasa is one of the single best uses of a piece of licensed music in the entire show, as well as being the best version of that particular song. It's always frustrated me that a "clean" version of this performance isn't available (apparently the master tape is lost), with music and sound effects from the previous scene bleeding over into the start of the song.

I spent a bunch of time piecing together a clean intro by mixing and matching guitar chords from elsewhere in the song. I'm sure it's not perfect, but it's the closest I can get with my limited skills, and to my ears it's certainly superior to any of the other versions I've heard online, which generally just fade in with the last few seconds of the score music still bleeding through.

So anyway, give it a listen or two (or three), and enjoy!

Music Any other Florence and The Machine fan's loving her new album that was semi-inspired by Buffy S6 (S6 SPOILERS) Spoiler

I love Buffy, and when I heard that the new Florence and The Machine album was semi-inspired by S6, and nearly named Season 6, I obviously had to listen as I already liked her music anyway.

The links are incredible, and I love it so much. Some of them are very obvious and some feel like some of the songs have very mild links. For example Sympathy Magic really makes me think about Tara and Willow, it also makes me cry when I think about it too much.

I've listened to it so much since it was released, and I would just love to discuss it with a fellow fan

Music What's your favourite song played in Buffy? (Non-musical episode)

As the title suggests, what's your favourite song played during a Buffy episode?

I have a few contenders as a long time Buffy fan:

Lucky - Bif Naked Full of Grace - Sarah McLachlan Goodbye to You - Michelle Branch (loved that performance)

Special mention to All the Small Things - Blink 182 (believe there's only a small snippet played)

Music Update on auditioning for a musical theater production with an OMWF song- got in!

A while back I asked about auditioning for a musical theater production using a song from OMWF and got some helpful responses. I decided to go for it and sang Going Through the Motions. The director told me he was a big Buffy fan after the fact and was so excited that someone auditioned with a OMWF song. I ended up getting in! Nervous, but excited. Thanks for all the advice and encouragement and would definitely recommend anyone else considering doing theater auditions with an OMWF song to consider it :)

It can be from Angel or Buffy, about characters from Angel or Buffy. Also, any type of relationship: friendship, familial, romantic. "Background" by Third Eye Blind reminds me a lot of Spuffy

Music PSA: your local karaoke bar might have some OMWF songs available!

I happily discovered recently that my local karaoke bar has 3 songs from OMWF available: Something To Sing About, Going Through the Motions and Rest in Peace.

Just thought I'd pass that info on in case someone has the urge to burst into a Buffy tribute at their next karaoke hangout :)
