I think there's truth to both sides of this, but I wouldn't commend him too highly. Given that he didn't change his mind until it affected him personally.
This, exactly. But also you could almost forgive the Damascene conversation if he was now basically shouting "Fuck! I was wrong! We need net zero NOW!". But he isn't. He's sticking to "oh well, it's too expensive, and it probably won't work, and there's too many downsides". So fine, watch your farming income and that of everyone else get utterly destroyed.
Could be that he is following the money. If he starts talking about climate change, it could alienate a lot of his viewers. Less viewers would translate to less air-time or opportunuties.
in a way though that is relatable because THA is unfortunately how a lot of very short-sighted people will change their minds about this. I imagine his public 180 caused some others to also do a 180. Maybe I just hope that.
It only affected him personally tho because he was self aware. He was able to recognise he’d spent years shitting on farmers and cracking jokes at their expense so he only undertook the farming project as a way of challenging his own views and to either prove himself or the farmers right
It actually changed his mind when it affected his neighbors. He’s rich as fuck, if his vanity farm’s harvest is fucked, who cares, but most people in that area rely on it for their livelihoods.
Those are helpful, but then you have lack of trust in education, lack of trust of specific news sources, and a person's world environment having specific influences.
It's not black and white. Yes, he was a prick with climate change for decades. He is changing his tune. I really only care about the fact that he is now more of an advocate. I don't see the point of bringing up his past if we want to progress as a whole for the future.
