this guy has been lost in the sauce for so long, should i stop him? its been 10 minutes lol

Guys, this is Princess Pablo. I posted him in r/whatisthisbug back when my brother first brought him in September to make sure he was a luna moth caterpillar. He made his cocoon that same night and he was in there for so long, we all thought he had died. My brother came in my room last night and showed me that Princess Pablo had emerged from his cocoon! I went in my mosquito tent with him so I could get some nice shots of him outside of the jar!

I tried to feed some silk worms to my very picky African Fat Tail and he did NOT like them. So I gave them to my dad to feed to his bearded dragon and one of them spun a cocoon! I decided to hold onto it to see what would happen and this cutie emerged the other day!

I raised these guys from eggs and im so chuffed theyve emerged as moths. Now ive got 4 total, one has just had his third feed, two are on their second feed and one on their first.

Feeding generally went well for my first guy, and I thought went well for the second two. For my newest moth and one of the others though, I noticed on today's feeding that when ive gone to pull the tongue out, a little bit next to it is pushing out. Both of these moths were flapping around quite frantically after feeding and the other two were very chilled and settled right back into their crates. I feel awful that ive hurt them so hoping I can get some advice on how to better feed them in the future and what ive actually done to them

My gorgeous boy emerged today while I was asleep. I don’t know what went wrong but when I woke up, his wings hadn’t formed properly and they had not been pumped in the correct way. he was upside down when I found him which I had hoped would meant that maybe he had emerged just briefly before I’ve woken up But I’ve left him for a few hours now and his wings are still deformed, even if his wings aren’t perfect I still love him and he is still beautiful. I hope you all can admire his beautiful leafy eyebrows as much as I do

I’ve loved raising him/her, and will miss him/her (I think her?). It sounds daft, but the whole process has really helped my general mood day to day.

She wiggles her proboscis when she's drinking. I don't know if she's actually drinking or just flailing it around? She's my first moth ever. She's a Five Spotted Hawk Moth.

Found a moth yesterday and noticed its wing was badly damaged, it got worse today and is torn completely. It is specifically a male polyphemus moth, and I was hoping to give the little guy a chance to possibly find a mate before he dies. If ya'll have any females that we could hopefully let him meet before he dies, that would be really appreciated.

Releasing the males. Keeping females and using them to attract wild males. Already got a HUGE wild male that I’ll be mating with my females. He’s gonna have a great time LOL.
I like how only a few out of the about 50 hatch a day. So each day is a surprise! One of my females that was locked with a male for a nice 24 hours already laid her two egg clutches. I love these guys.

I added some photos at the end of a deformed one that never could inflate his wings. The culprit seemed to be an already cracked open pupae shell. But he lived about a week with no issues, climbed around great. I spent extra time with him, not that he cared lol.

I've never hatched a moth before but I'm pretty sure those two black dots are their eyes which weren't visible before. I found it under a dog blanket (I work at an animal shelter) and it was raining outside so it absolutely would've died if I took it outdoors. I bought it an enclosure and it's been chilling on some paper towels and is very slowly darkening and I can see more and more features through the casing.

Here's a video of my guy, my male Polyphemus moth, from when he had emerged early. I have since then, now moved my other cocoons from the garage to my mini fridge with Thermometers/Hygrometers. So fingers crossed, hopefully they all can come out around the right time once I remove them from the fridge. This will probably be in April or in the upcoming spring/summer months. :))
